Just got NF and I'm really loving it, the scenery is beautiful and the monsters just look down right fierce. The addition of the hero's is a brilliant new element of game play for me to tinker around with. But I have noticed that the hero's AI isn't great..... Koss will use Aftershock before Hammer Bash had charged up or waste Dwarven Battle Stance on a melee fighter, I realize that I can disable his skills and click which skills I think are best for him, in what ever order I see fit..... but doing that plus looking after my own skills is proving to be a bit of a challenge and with 2 more hero's to come I'm going to have to be doing an awful lot of multi tasking and maybe not paying enough attention to my own skill deck.
What I was thinking was some sort of function that would make it easier for us, the players that like to command our hero's with absolute authority. I think something simple would be best like being able to hold in the Shift key and pressing 1 would cause your primary hero(#1) to use his skill mapped to the 1 key. Then releasing Shift would allow you to fire off your own skills as normal. Once you get used to having a certain build with let's say Koss you could effectively control him plus your own actions, hopefully allowing you to focus better on the monster in front of you instead of the UI.
This should make 1 hero extremely effective and not force you to settle with a simple build that he can mange on his own i.e. his initial AI. To compliment that you could have the further option of shuting off his skill AI so you wouldn't have to have big red messy censor symbols over all 8 of his skills. With time it will become second nature for you to be effectively playing two roles at once and fully utilize the hero's potential......
What do you guys reckon?
Idea for better hero skills usage..

An AI sentence line would fix this, though I dont know if its possible in the current coding structure of the game.
Much like FFXII's "gambit" system, we can customize skill usage to the letter:
Hammer Bash
Use when target can be knocked down.
Aftershock
Use when a target in range is knocked down.
Dwarven Battle Stance
Use when a Necromancer, Elementalist, Mesmer, Monk and Ritualist class is in range. Target only Necromancer, Elementalist, Mesmer, Monk and Ritualist class while this skill is active.
