I had a scout round but didnt see anything like this around so if I missed another thread talking about this, please forgive me & move this or delete this one.

So the idea..............

For a 3rd Birthday (as no.2 has come & gone for some people & it would be unfair on them if it was introduced as a 2nd birthday present) or as a title completion reward (ie you complete 75% of all titles available) you could get an air drop which would appear like a birthday present does in your inventory as a small box or something.

Once double clicked on, a nice little box would drop from the sky & when it hits the ground it breaks open to reveal 5 - 10 rare gold / green weapons / minipets & 10k in gold or something similar. Perhaps throw in rare items like ecto or diamonds etc?.

This would be good for players that dont farm a lot & dont have a lot of cash.
It would also be a nice alternative to minipets, which lets face it do nothing except run around making noises.

But the idea behind it is to give people something that is useful so please no minpets or fireworks or cupcakes etc :P

If anyone from anet sees this & thinks about it, i'd love to hear what your thoughts are

Thanks

um the reason ante gives minipets is a way to reward long standing player without giving them an unfair advantage..... but idk i guess this is kinda cool but idk.... so as of now im undecided.

This sounds too much like a simple and easy way to get free money. If you just want free money, you might as well suggest for everybody to get a little prize box this week-end, but the reason I look forward to my birthdays is because my character has reached a milestone, not because I just got some free cash.

Inflation FTL. Minipets don't create wealth since the money has to come from somewhere. The person who buys it for 100k +90 ectos farmed for it, or power traded for. Eventually, all ectos had to come from somebody playing UW. It is their labor time that makes ectos have value.

Giving free money that comes from no source is never good for the economy.

I'd rather see a ticket for the minipet of your choice.

its not simple, after all you would have to play for 3 years or put a lot of hard work into the titles.

thank you for your points of view though, all of you.

Please keep them coming

Do you have any idea how many deadweight characters exist for the sole purpose of getting free birthday gifts? There's no requirement for playtime or storyline progress or anything. They just have to be old. Hence the multitude of players who fill all their extra slots with pve characters they have no intention of ever developing.

Heck, a friend of mine from college played Prophecies for about three months after its release before returning to WoW...I convinced him to start GW again recently and he had eight new minipets waiting. Compare that to me: I've played for 2500 hours and have zero minipets, due to my compulsive re-rolling behavior.

I'm not saying it's an unfair system, just one which rewards certain styles of play that contribute little to the online environment.
