Sanctum Cay on HM
slipout
SO my gf and i are both monks and are having a helluv a time trying to beat this mission, we've failed probably 10 times. Does anyone have a build they could suggest to run this? keep in mind, we're both monks. Thanks
Sophitia Leafblade
I dont think the mission is runnable in HM, the damage ud take is simply too much. Although saying that it could be possible with a bonder at the edge of the radar (untested) although im not sure even that would be able to cope with the damage u take from the Savants on its own (the Savants are the biggest problem on that mission, they can own an entire party in seconds if u dont kill or shut them down)
All i could suggest is to Take Norgu as an interuptor Anti Caster + Empathy and lock him onto any Savant that comes towards you. Id also an Invoke Lightning Spiker Ele with blind to sort out the Mantles and a Ss Necro. Then get your Partner to Take Razah with Bloodsong, pain and the rest Restoration (using preservation). One Monk as a Bonder and the Other as either a Healer and/or protector.
Also if you can equip Mantra of Flame to greatly reduce damage and some energy gain.

I'm pretty sure you can't run this but if you have 2 monks then I'd suggest a ZB/LoD dual monk setup since those white mantle eles at the end can get very nasty. When I did it with my bf I had hexbreaker I believe because those white mantle mesmers and necros like to hit you with shame and mark of subversion at the very last second of your casting time.
Sophitia had some good suggestions but my party makeup was different, I brought a Olias as SS spammer since white mantle attack at insane rate, 2 sf eles, a mm to help make minions to keep the white mantle busy, raz as shelter/union spammer with rit lord as his elite, Tahlk setup as LoD heal monk.
Had absolutely no problems doing this mission 1st time through

I was stuck on this mission for ages until I found out an..alternate way to play it. It's somewhere else in this forum that someone posted!
Get to the end and don't approach the Vizir. Flag your heroes RIGHT back. Run along the side as if you are doing the bonus, and return back. This should start everything running to where the Vizir spawns. If not, you might need to inch forward to the position he spawns at, you can get quite close!
Once they start running, wait... for a while.
After things start approaching, get out your trusty longbow and pull the nearest, and run like the wind. All of them will come running.
They'll settle down, some will return, others will stay spread out at the top. You can kill in 2-4s.
Repeat... You can get in longbow range of the vizir, but no closer, be careful!

i didnt say i was trying to run the mission, we have no problem getting to the vizier, once we get there.. we get stomped thats all.. but i think im gunna try norgu for interrupts, 2SF eles and a MM.. i find that SS doesnt work very well, not for me anyways. thanks for the suggestions.. heck, if anyone wanted to help, that'd be even better. Ign = i slipout i..... just incase haha

JMFD is correct. If you have a full team or just heros you can wait on the top of the hill overlooking the Vizier. Make sure you bring a longbow to pull. As the Mantle move in you pull them up the hill and kill them off. You won't get them all right away and they will start to pile up on the dock. Make sure your team stays up on the hill while one of you slowly moves your way onto the beach while holding against the hill. You should be able to pull the mob and they will ALL come for you. Run your butt off back up onto the grass and back down the pathway. Most of the mob will break off and return. The ones that don't you keep pulling and kill off. Just repeat that until there's none left on the dock. Just do the bonus after.

I believe I ran something like this for Sanctum HM.
2x Monk
Warrior
Melandru's Derv
SS Necro with barbs and MoP
MM
The key is to always target to savants. They are really the main threat, and with no monk support they fall very quickly. Using the barbs/mop combo with warrior pressure rocks all of tyria (in particular mursaat), but I find it works well in general when you want single targets to be falling quickly.
Also, don't design your melee builds as tanks. Give them attack speed boosts (flail, heart, respectively) to make the best of the necro buffs. I have no confidence in a heroes ability to combo, so I always run Koss as axe so he can mindlessly spam Eviscerate, Exec, D Blow and 1 misc. without micro-management. With Melonni, Wearying Strike spam can be annoying when she's out of form, but if you get it ready for the right moment, Melandru's should be up for most of your dock defense. GL

grats on completely it !!!!! but i would also like to offer how i completed it as a ranger. my self a BHA ranger, one tank(guildie), 1 SF ele (guildie), 1 yes 1 monk prot/heal, MofW SS necro, Zhed SF ele. the trickie part was after the bonus. we had no issues getting to the bonus area. we instead did bonus, then re-scraped the wall back way past the beach. i then proceeded to pull small groups of mantle to us. we dispatched them quite easily and safely with out Vizier ever spawning. once there are no more, go to the docks let the vizier do his thing and its off to sanctum cay. woohoo

did this mission with guildies yesterday, basically we had 2 b/p rangers, melandru derv with crippling strike ( so our team can kite) , 1 heal monk, 1 prot monk, 1 echo SH ele. We also used the longbow but sometimes it was quite hard, I was particularly impressed (dont know if I should have been, dont play much HM) when we aggroed about 12 enemies and once and killed them all in 1 aggro at the end. What I'm wondering is how aurora glade will be
