Help! I'm typing in Greek!

Tonight as I was playing, all of a sudden, I was typing in Greek letters. I checked my language options in the menu windows, but they both still said English. So, I closed out the game, restarted it, and I was back to typing in English...for about half an hour. Then it did it again...it switched back to Greek.

So I closed out, restarted, and again, back to English. But half an hour later...back to Greek. I did this 3-4 times.

Finally, I just gave up, and stopped typing. I would check it every 2-3 mins or so to see if it switched back to typing in English. But after about 10 minutes, it only typed red vertical bars, and a note said, "Guild Wars does not support that text type. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Does anyone know what is going on, or how I can stop this from happening?

First things first, see if the typing occurs in other programs.
Then, scan your computer for any sort of virus


theres 2 possibilities: Try reinstalling your keyboard drivers, and try reinstalling guildwars, even the huge gw.dat file. there might be something corrupted.
Not sure what else it could be.....

does it only occur in guild wars or in everything??

Just in Guild Wars. I was able to still "communicate" by minimizing gw, opening wordpad, typing what I wanted to say in Wordpad, then copy-pasting it back into gw.

I figured it out, and so am posting it here, just in cast this happens to anyone else.

I have language support turned on through my Windows Control Panel, and the Greek was set to a shortcut key Alt+Shift.

As I was playing the game, I sometimes (apparently) hit this key combination as I was targeting foes and looking for drops (I don't use ctrl, but shift).

Anyway, I turned it off, and now no more problems. But now that I know how to do it, maybe I'll turn it back on so I can speak Greek to my guildies...and in towns. It could be fun....

If it's only in guild wars, your keyboard drivers can't be the problem.
The best advice I can give you is delete everything and reinstall guild wars. (yes, that's a 3,4 GB download. it's going to take a while)
