New Player...
Salokin X
Hi every, I just bought yesterday the game Guild Wars - Game Of The Year, and while looking around Necro guides, I found out that the game is VERY complicated, so I thinking of starting a new character.
I would just need some advices from you guys first:
- What is the easier character to pick as a primary?
- What is the easir character to pick as a secoundary?
And I have some other questions:
- Is this game good? 'Cause I never find anyone out of town, which makes this game really boring.
- What is the benefit of making a party with other players?
Well I guess that's it. I hope you could help me get unbored of this game.

First off, welcome to Guild Wars. There is no easier primary or secondary, everyone has various experiences with the classes. Just play around and see what you like. Erm..."Is the game good?" I'd have to say the 3 million players must say yes. The reason that you find no one out of the towns is b/c GW is instanced, meaning when you leave town only your party has that "copy" of the map. The benefit of making a party is being able to have an easier time as a newbie and having fun.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

Well the easiest class to play is warrior...i would suggest starting out with that and getting it to lvl 20 then go back and start a new character of your choice. Yes the game is complicated but only as complicated as you make it...you can be very detailed or very relaxed depends on your playing style.
GW is all instanced expcept for in towns...so unless you go with other "real" players in your group you will not see them in an explorable area.
The benefits of taking RL peeps with you is that you can converse and USUALLY they are better at playing the game than AI henchman/Heros....
Just take your time as much as possilbe and don't rush around...learn the game...and play it how you want to...
A great site besides this one is www.guildwiki.org and of course the Main Guildwars.com site and its wiki is coming along nicely as well but not as detailed as the first one i mentioned.
Good Luck

well, I dont see the point of making a intenced game, dont u think the game would be better if it was normal, seing people that are not in your party outside of town?
btw, ty for the help

Well, first off, the game box says it's instanced. And no, I don't think it'd be better, I don't want to see more idiots then I need ruining my gaming experience. You want persistance, go sell your soul for WoW. ;-)

You won't find anyone out of town's as those areas are instanced, which makes a copy of the area only for you and for your party. Whilst it can make it lonely, it also prevents loot stealing, other people chaining monsters through your party etc. Making a party with other players gives you people to talk to, and the person could have previous characters so knows what they're doing, so can help you further. Of course, some people could just group, then when their bits been done leave.
For primaries, people will say different things. Some will say elementalists or rangers, but it's really a matter of preference. If you want in your face damage dealing, pick a warrior, for ranged damage, with the option of a pet, pick a ranger. If you want to use magic, pick an elementalist for damage, a monk for healing and support, a mesmer for hexing, degen and other methods of inhibiting foes play, and necromancers for playing with dead things, and some support
For secondaries, for a first time player monk could be recommended, as those skills can be used for helping keep yourself alive, and for a reusable resurrection skill. Personally, I chose ranger for the pets, but it's a personal choice

other question: i created a necromancer (as primary) and for secoundary i got the elementalist, is this a good combination for a starter?
and i heard something that i can only go to pvp if im lvl 20, is that true? while in pvp, if i kill some1 there, do i get exp?

There are some low lvl pvp arenas you can start in, or you can create a pvp charecter with will automatically start at lvl20, but since you don't have a lot of skills unlocked on your account it might be easier to play a bit of PVE first to get those unlocks and learn the game.

PvXwiki
In order to find a build that suits you, and then modify it to make it your own. You may also want to check out the skills on Guild Wiki in order to make a build of your very own.
I Don't play necromancer too much (if any) so I can't really help you there, but every combination has it's own features. Also note You can change your secondary later in the game.
You can Pvp at any level, from 1-10 go to Ascalon Arena. 10-15 go to Yak's Bend Arena and 15-20 go to Lions Arch Arena. Also note that If you go to lions arch area, make sure you are level 20 because anyone can make PvP character, and play in Lions Arch. Pvp Characters always start at level 20, and are usually designed to put pressure in your playing, and make you hesitate...
Having that said, I have one more thing to add..

That being said, enjoy your game

P.S. They plan to add non-instanced areas in GW2 in case you're interested

Even though it's Guild Wars' "unoffical" gaming competion, there is no reason to discriminate against the game. It is a fun game, and most people here haven't even played it before. Actually I would guess about 90% of the people on this board that "bag" on WoW, haven't even experienced the game before. So you don't need to say : |

You shouldn't see GW as a real MMORPG. See it as an FPS without a crosshair or aiming, combined with a card game and some RPG based damage system.

Lol, Yep...
Anyone ever played through the whole game in First Person? lemme tell you, those monsters look a helluva lot scarier up close and personal, special if your someone whose in the back all the time...
