Hi,
I bought my game yesterday (basic one), started the installation, first disc - connecting, downloading and installing, all went fine 'till it asked me to insert disc no 2 (BTW I already tried to disable my anti virus) when I insert the second disc it simply.... stuck (Not Responding), the installation window is stuck and the only way to get rid of it is reset and I hate doin' it :S

I already tried 3 times, every time I uninstall it and begin the new installation only to get disappointed again...

Anything I can do? is this a known issue? or is it just me being unlucky like hell?

P.S - I guess it's a good thing I didn't bought any of the expansion packs :\
for a lame reason it is.

Thanks in advance

I would suggest downloading the client via the website

http://www.guildwars.com/downloads/gwsetup.zip

Let that run then sit back and let it all download...it will take awhile....besure that if you are behind a firewall that you open up the ports that are needed to run GW. If you do a quick search for gw ports or some such here i am sure you will find what you need.

Good Luck

And remember one very important thing... all the chapters are part of one whole big game, you buy the chapter code to unlock the content... when you have the game installed, you technically have all three chapters installed on your computer and only need to add the key code to your account to activate the other content

there are some amazing deals on the chapters at the moment, like play.com having all three chapters at £10 each, which is an amazing bargain at the moment

Just remember that when you install, before you start, do a full image of the game to save loading times in game, to do it, right click on your desktop icon for guild wars (I suggest you make another icon to do this with), goto properties and in the Target box you should see:

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"

...Or the installation path that you installed it too... Anyway, in that box, add -image at the end of the line, so you should end up with:

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image

Now apply the changes and double click this icon to run the image and update the client and all the files to the most recent versions and the game will run a lot smoother

Hope that helps and if you need a hand, PM me here

ah....hollydays....boring...nothin to do....so i checked the internet if some1 has the same prob as i did. and i found you....so ill hellp.....
the answer is so logic...do it like this:
copy the files from your 1 cd to a folder on your desktop
and from your 2 cd just copy the gw2 file from data/gw/ to a file that was on your 1 cd (allso) data/gw/.theres allso a file called gw1 there. so on the 1 cd directory you should have gw1 and gw2 file. you got it?
now go to the file on your 1 cd named CDROM (data/CDROM)
there you have writen disc=1,2. change it to disc=1,1 and....thats it...
you can install it now from your desktop...
