What exactly are you asking here a run to a mission or through one? There a runners that will run you to mission outpost and there runner that will run you through them. They are both separate though not the same as they will do the misson.

No. There is a point to it. If a quest or mission is difficult, you can get someone to do it for you for a fee. If it takes a long time, or it's too difficult to get to a certain town/outpost, getting a run to the place would be useful.

For instance, many people do "desert tours" and run your character to each location, thus, all you have to do is beat the missions instead of trekking around unlocking everything.

Certain places are difficult to get too if you are a lower level player. But on the other hand they are desireable. If you have a new character in Prophecies that has access to cash via Storage, etc. some players want to get directly to Droknar's Forge to buy high-end armour. Temple of Ages is another popular destination. From within Factions and Nightfall, you get dropped off at Lion's Arch the first time you get into Prophecies (with the exception of a Crystal Desert access point from Nightfall). A lot of people want to be run backwards to Ascalon with all stops in between or taken to Droknars Forge via Lornar's Pass.

First time through Prophecies you should play all the missions. But after you have been through the game a couple of times, you may find yourself wanting to skip certain parts of the game with a new character.

Some missions are a pain too. I did ruins of morah 3 times i think and for the rest of my chars, i got ran through the mission mainly because i got tired of it and also because i don't like the mission very much.
