Old timer returning, with a question
Minwanabi
Yo, used to play a while back, and had a simple question--would I be better off installing the original CD for guild wars, or downloading the client off the webpage? Is the downloadable client complete, but will I have to spend basically entire days patching the original CD? Thanks.
Dzan
Installing from the original cd will save you maybe 15 minutes.

well im not all knowing about this but, whichever way you will have to download all the extra files that arent on your CD, and this will take however long it takes. If the files were all in the client then youd just spend that long downloading the client. I dont think there is that much in the client however and would advise using the CD as that will already have some of the files on it.
Basically whichever way you do it there shouldnt be a huge time difference and it will take a long time if you have a slow connection.

It shouldn't matter really because you're going to have long download times no matter which you do. I got a new laptop and when I downloaded the client, I had to download all the patches and the towns and what not. Was a big pain in the butt to have 10000 files to download everywhere I went.

when you 1st go in you'll have to download all updates, but after that's done, if you exit, go to your GW icon and add -image to the end of the command line, it will download all the other files that need to be done. However, once they're all downloaded, you need to remove -image in order to be able to play

Yeah, if you have a good internet connection -image is the way to go. Just set it to run overnight, and you'll be golden. There's I think around 92000 files total now.

^^^ was gonna post exactly that. Don't even bother with the CD, just -image it, drink a beer, and go to bed
