As a recovering alcoholic, the Drunkard title has always struck me as being particularly tasteless and socially irresponsible.

Ya, ya, I know it's "just a game" and in-game behaviour doesn't neccessarily correlate to real world behaviour but to present maintaining a constant state of inebriation as something "fun" to be "rewarded" just sends a very, very wrong message.

Drunkard title is not that bad at all. It Take about 167hours to accomlish and can be pretty funny running aroud completely drunk in the elite areas.
The price is too high though.
Sweet tooth is more stupid because you only buy the stuff and double klick untill your fingers fall off nothing grat to do except wasting money.

Some titles like the treasure hunter/wisdom just take too much time.
All titles should take about 100-200hours to accomplish not more and not much less.

best titles so far are the cartographers.

Some titles are not bad, but cheesy:
* Survivor (for one max survivor who got it by playing game you get dozens of people who safely farmed XP and completelly devauled it.)
How else do you expect to get max survivor? Factions and Nightfall missions have 4500 exp for masters x 33 missions = 148500 and Proph missions get you 2000 exp for mish/bonus x 25 missions = 50000 which is ~ 200,000 total. I dont feel like getting into quests, but ill make a rough estimate that there is 500,000-1,000,000 exp worth out there. That leaves about 100,000-600,000 more to get the title....where are you going to get that? (This is after you have done EVERYTHING WITHOUT DYING mind you) 30 core skills + 111 nf skills + 90 factions skills + 60 proph skills = 291 elites x 5000 exp > 1,337,600..... People make characters solely for survivor, so shouldn't they try to do it in the best (read easiest) way possible? It is ridiculous to try to beat all three campaigns w/o dying...so i don't think survivor is devalued at all.

I think Lucky/Unlucky is ridiculous....if you do it by the boardwalk games. I never did it that way and I have made plenty of progress just off of lockpick use. I love that my friend dumped 150k one weekend for that and only got to t1....

I think Legendary Defender of Ascalon is ridiculous. For starters, to get the title, in my understanding, you have to let the Charr kill you twelve billion times. That fails. The execution of the get-to-Lvl-20 in Pre-Searing makes it ridiculous. If there was a more logical way, it wouldn't be a ridiculous title. I also think the Lucky and Unlucky titles are pushing it, because they have a very slight connection to a supposed accomplishment in the game world.

The Protector and Cartographer titles, and, to an extent, the Treasure Hunter and Wisdom titles as well, are "extremely reasonable." As someone who doesn't get involved much in PvP, I feel less able to comment on which titles are more reasonable. Generally, though, their upper tiers look ridiculous to my eyes.

Max level survivor is NOT hard to attain...all you have to do is make it as far as Lutgardis Conservatory then door for FFF...2k expirience, 150 gold and 400Kurzick faction about every 60 seconds.

I wont comment on PVP titles, I have no interest in that and thus cannot comment on them really.

For me, the ridiculous titles are Treasure Hunter/Wisdom.

Yes, ale hound and sweet titles are pretty bad too, but they are kind of not really playing the game titles.

And yes, the luxon/kurzick, lucky/unlucky are pretty gross, but they are at least account wide.

But Treasure Hunter/Wisdom are pretty grueling to get AND character based.

This just leads into a stunted play experience, IMO. The cost of keys is prohibitive, so the only thing that really pushes me into wasting so much cash in there is the associated titles that can come with them. But since this is character based, I tend to just do that on one character, else why bother? So I end up pretty much chest running or exploring and opening a chest from time to time on ONE out of 9 of my characters. I am thus neglecting several characters just because of the need to focus all energies on one character in order to have any hope of seeing those titles raise ever so slowly. I do not even envision the day I will max those titles on that character...

I don't know anything about the PvP titles so can't comment, but in PvE the only ones I think mean anything are Protector, Guardian and cartographer as you've actually got to have played and completed the game and visited every area.

The ones I don't particulary like are survivor as it's such a pain in the arse when one joins a pug and screws up missions/quests by quiting before dying and skill hunter as it seems totally pointless capping elites on a character that you won't use or in some cases as they're for a primary attribute can't use - skill hunter would've been much more impressive if it was account wide and you had to cap every elite for every characters primary profession ie. to max it you'd need to cap all the primary profession elites on 10 different characters (just their primary ones count) rather than have to cap all elites on one character.

Anywhere but Guild Wars now, sadly.

It's a shame, this game had so much potential, but is ruined due to stale gameplay and lame updates

I think the most ridiculous title is by far Legendary Defender of Ascalon, for the reasons stated above.

The titles that show true skill.

PvE
1. Vanquisher
2. Cartographer
3. Guardian

PvP
1. Gladiator
2. Friend of the Luxon/Kurzick
3. Champion

But really, some aspects of even legit titles are ludacris. Who has won or will ever win 2160 high ranked GvG battles to get rank 9 champion?

Honestly, it will all depend on your style of play and your personal choice as to which titles you feel are worth going after and which ones are worth just letting fall by the wayside. Some titles are in fact just time sinks, some are agrind fest, some are purely money sinks, some are purely PVP and others are purely PVE. Just all depends on what you want out of your gaming expierence.

Legendary Defender of Ascalon is the only one I hate. It's completely ridiculous to get, and involves very little skill. You don't even have to play the game to get it, you just have to leave the game on for hours at a time.

In my opinion, they should change the method of getting it. At least throw in some higher level enemies for once you reach the higher levels, so there's at least still some gameplay involved.

In all due honesty I think that treasure hunter and wisdom should be account-based. Ppl id all their golds on the same char anyway. Also they go and chest run with the same char so I really don't see a problem. I have r2 of wisdom and chest opening on 2 chars... I'd rather have r3 of both on just on char.

The Sweet Tooth title borders directly on most reasonable/unreasonable for me. Sure, it's a gold sink, but it's also horrendously stupid to get - just buy candy, click-click LOL TITLE.

Sweet Tooth is a waste, as people said its just about farming for money then clicking like crazy.
Legendary Defender of Ascalon, eh this one is all about being AFK and death lvling. Its a bit hard to get since it takes a while (my char for this has been lvl 18 for the past week =/)
Drunkard is also one of the more useless skills, all you do is sit there and click on a timer Or use an auto clicker and go afk.

Gamer Title: Kinda difficult to get anywhere with the title without an event going on.

LDoA: even if it were Legendary Deaths of Ascalon..this title would still seem pointless. There is nothing truly legendary about this title and takes too long to really get anywhere.

Survivor: I tired and failed at this many times. Just not worth it IMO for me to do. Others like the challenge of it, so I will leave it to them.

Drunkard: Stand. Click. Wait. Click some more. Wait. Click some more. Keep standing....for hours. : /

/signed for the "quester title".

I'm pretty sure I've done all possible quests in Tyria and Canth on my main character. I'm working on elona now.

Legendary quester would be good for having done all possible ones at least once, rather that than a title for having done x number of quests, which would be an incentive for people to find a repeatable, easy and fast one and grind it to death.

maxing titles area a grind fest x10. protector titles are the only non grind titles in the game. everything else require too much grind imo. farming for money to acheive max drunkard or any of the other max gold sink titles require too much time as well.

other then self-fulfilment, i dont see why people invest so much time just to have text reading "I'm Very Important" or w/e below their characters names imo, it should read something like " I Have Way Too Much Free Time On My Hands". joking aside, people probably dont even notice the titles you have displayed in the first place.

more incentives for pve titles like emotes and i may be tempted to "grind" for them.

The quest title would absolutely be a sensible addition -As so many have pointed out here, it would be a title achieved through playing the game, something which most of the 'ridiculous' titles aren't.

It's the whole balance thing that kind of seems ill thought out. Again as some have commented, sunspear and LB max are now achievable in with what I would consider a sensible amount of time and effort, yet others require huge investments of time and/or money.

I suspect that because the whole idea of titles was 'tacked on' to the original game mechanics (particularly those which have some sort of effect on in game play), the developers themselves realise some of the shortcomings of the current system and GW2 will see some radical changes to the way achievement rewards are implemented.

Interesting how in any thread about titles, it always seems to be the survivor title that generates the most 'heat'........

I psoted in another thread about how titles do actually benefit you in some way whether or not the benefit is noticable or not is a different story. A lot of the benefits are in the form of general game knowledge. The Protector/Guardian Title Tracks provide you with invaluable knowledge of how to beat the missions that you can use to help friends or guildmates. The Skill Hunter Title track allows you to have diverse builds for you and especially your heroes. Teh Cartographer Title Track even has a benefit. It helps if you need to run friends or guildmates places or if you just wanna show em around. Vanquisher Titles go great with the Cartographer Titles. Sunspear will supposedly get you some skills later on.

I don't really care much for the PvP titles as I don't PvP. Same goes with the Faction Titles. The Drunkard/Sweet Tooth titles are pointless and makes me feel sorry for people when I see them with it.

LDoA, as someone said earlier, would be respectable if it didn't involve so much AFK'ing.

The Maxed Titles Title is just as ridiculous as it sounds...
