People of Guild Wars!

Lend me your ears! The PvE community would like to call upon those of you who have maxed out your heroes to their maximum capacity (level wise) and have them perfectly set up skill wise.

Please share with us your combination of three heroes and what build type they use. You don't really have to break down every skill you have them use. You could just say: "I run Olias as MM"... Something to that effect. If you want to go more in-depth about what works for you, Go for it! It doesn't have to be all three heroes, it could just be like 1 or so, but I'd like the opinion of people who use their heroes to the max!

So show the greats of Ascalon, Istan, and Shing Jea what you make of your closest companions (no not your pet -ecto- )...

Hi Vengeance

I'll kick this off for you:

Myself: SS Curses Necro
Olias: MM Necro
Koss: Hundred Blades sword Warrior
Dunkoro: Straight Healing Monk

Our builds vary slightly depending on the area we are going to go to/Enemies we will be facing, but I find we have a core set-up that works like a dream.

For Henchies:
8 man party area: I use one Healer Hench, one Ranger Hench, one Warrior Hench, one Paragon hench.

If I know I need it in a certain area, I will sometimes drop Koss for Tahlkora set up Protection, and replace the healer Hench with another melee Hench.

Thats me Hero/Hench set up as I don't usually play with other humans

This works for me:

Myself as E/D mystic regen / stoneflesh earth tank with some powerful DoT spells.
Alcolyte Sousuke as E/* Searing flames/meteor shower nuker
Zhed Shadowhoof as E/Me earth warder and Sandstorm thrower
Tahlkora as Mo/* Shield of Regen monk

Yes, a lot of E's in here. Together we can take massive damage and deal a lot of damage as well. We have to stay together for the wards to work tho.

I'm a ranger primarly and mostly go with my ranger,

eventhough I do have a warrior, monk and ele available.

When I'm on my ranger my setup depends a bit on where I go.
For an 8-man party, I mainly go B/P and have two ranger heroes with me either as B/P too or as ranger spikers with Keen Arrow, Dual Shot, Barrage and Lightning Reflexes, rebirth, troll, rest is up to you.
Then I go with Dunkoro as healer monk, either with WoH or Divert Hexes.

The rest, I bring two hench healers, and depending on campaign, Paragon and mesmer/dervish/ele, Ritualist and assassin/warrior/ele or warrior/mesmer and ele.
I do like mesmers, especially inside the Vortex.

On a 4 man team I go ranger as barrage spiker as my above mentioned heroes, a necro hero as MM/degen, monk with healing/anti hex and mostly a warrior/dervish

Works for me, but haven't really found my 4 man team for HM yet, not that much into vanquishing here.

interesante... Seems basic enough and, I imagine, it works in almost all situations. I might try this out, do you have Koss set up as a tank or Dmg. dude? Because Hundred Blades, if I remember correctly, is more of a damage dealing skill as opposed to tanking.

Koss – Warrior/Necro (Sword Skills and Plague Touch)
Alcolyte Sousuke Elementalist/Monk or Mesmer (Searing Flames and Meteor Shower Rez chant or Leech signet)
Tahlkora as Monk/Mesmer (Shield of Regeneration / Leech Signet / Power drain)

You need to taylor your heros to the area in HM. I've found broadhead arrow quite nice for HM. I'd never take it for normal mode since you can just brute force normal with SF.

Thank you much!
it's a pleasure.

Koss is all about doing damage to multiple targets (hence Flail, Hundred Blades, Sun and Moon Slash), Ollie's minions are the flesh wall/tanks, while I use Barbs, SS and Mark of Pain - they drop so fast I usually can't get more than 1 or 2 casts of SS and MoP and maybe 2 or 3 casts of Barbs off before i have no more targets... and I have yet to need to use Signet of Lost Souls which is on my bar as "energy management"... the foes die too fast... LOL.

This build wipes NM and is doing great in HM - half way to vanquishing Elona

BUT half the battle is won with careful thought and flagging, and careful Aggroing/pulling of mobs... not with the exact builds or combinations of heroes. I've managed fine when I have had to include certain heroes for certain missions.

i personly am i monk, i run LoD/infuse buildworks fine

hero 1 : koss. currently an axe damage dealer with Eviscerate, its a deadly move
Hero 2 : Olias. as a jagged bones minion master, with 5 bodies down he has 10 minioons up, and soon after there all jagged, very nice saves me healing most of the time
Hero 3 : Zhed SF Metor shower ele works nicly even if he forgets to spam SF the 4 secs of -8dg work well with the -3 form bleeding form horrors.

if im in a misson with a lack of bodies, THK for instance id take a secon SF ele or dunkoro/Tahlkora (HB/Divert, one of the only monk elites heros know how to use).

works very nicely. if im to hero i got, Mesmer hero, one more monk hero ranger hero then either necro hero/warrior hero/paragon hero depending on where i am

hope it helps

I'm very boring in this sense, since 90% of the time I take Olias as my MM and Zhed / Sousuke (depending on whom I have) as SF ele. The 3rd spot rotates more, but more often than not I either have Margrid/Jin as BHA / interrupt or Morgahn with Motivation/Command build.

With my warrior I use:

Dunkoro: Healing: Word of healing
Zhed: Air spiker: Invkore Lighting
Jin: interupter : broad arrow head

Don't remember their exact built.

This gives me a good base for almost everythign in game, I can easily change it if I need too, but I rarely do.

myself: ranger, build varies a lot with specific needs, but some general faves are splinter barrage, burning arrow/apply poison/interrupts, and traps (smoke trap ftw!)

hero1: Tahlkora ZB/prot (party of 4 or VERY hard areas) or Razah the MM)
hero2: (4 party max): Razah the MM (in 8 people): either Razah or Zhed with SF/meteors
hero3: (in 4 party max):Koss with cyclone/splinter weapon; (in 8 party); Sousuke SF nuker or Curse Necro.
henches: most of the time both healer henches, warrior, and one ele(herta is my fave) but some places last spot is swapped, like interruption hench in jade sea.

So: always have Razah my splody MM, and IF I bring monk hero it's zb/prot, and I like running 2 SF nukers.

my set up is pretty boring and i use it pretty much all the time. playing as watever build for watever profession, my heros and henchies are always the same, cept for a change or two depending on the place.
1.barrager jin or magrid (barrage, screamingshot, distrac shot, savage shot, troll, throw dirt(i shud change this cus they like to run in to blind ppl but never got around to it), mend touch, rebirth)
2.koss (depending on whatever weapon i have available, either crippslash,gash, sunmoon or cleave dismember executioner with distracting blow, WY, mend touch, rebirth)
3.lod dunkoro or tahlkora (rof,lod,kiss,word of comf, rejuv signet,dismiss,rem hex,chant)
4.mm olias or master of whisp (golem, shamblin, vamp, horror, with botm, h.area,sols, rebirth)

i always take the barrager and lod and switch out warr and mm depending on how the mission is. if its fast and barely and runnin between mobs, then mm. if alot of running and pre-setting up is not needed, go with koss.

for 8 man parties, i take devona for charge!, eve for br, cynn for some elem dmg, and a prot hench to complement my healerhero. if none available, then jus get healer hench.

if in nightfall and the mission/quest requires a particular hero, ill set up zhed as sf (aura restoration, fireattune, sf, g.gaze, l.flame, m.showers,fireball, chant) or melon as some selfsufficient reapersweeper (f. intervention, m.regen, v.boon, conviction, reapersweep, victorious sweep, chill victory, rebirth).

im liking this thread. ppl can learn ways to set up their heros efficiently. so many ppl join groups and is hellbent on using their heros and the heros have the crappiest build ever. makes me even not want to group with the guy. if his/her heroes got shit builds, most likely, the guy himself has a shit build. im guessin ppl jus say ooh yes hero and jus drag some skills onto the bar. (barrage with ton of preps. mm with all animate spells and no way to heal em.) its funny when you group with ppl like these cus it makes u wonder how they even got to that pt in the game, but at the same time, im like damn this guys dedication is badazz, he probably got pwnt a million times before he got here.

What I do is I have Koss set up with [skill]dragon slash[/skill] and instead of a rez I use [skill]"To the Limit!"[/skill]. I figure if people are going to start dieing he will be the first anyways. Also I run Tahlkora as all protect and Dunkoro as a [skill]light of deliverance[/skill] monk. For extra damage I will use Olias as a MM and I run Master of Whispers as a blood necro with [skill]spoil victor[/skill]. My ranger heros use either [skill]barrage[/skill] or [skill]burning arrow[/skill]. Norgu is pure interrupt with [skill]migraine[/skill] just in case and for HM where the enemies cast faster. My ele heros use [skill]searing flames[/skill] because I don't trust them to do AoE effectively. I don't have a rit so I don't know how to set up a build that the AI can use so I don't use Razah. Goren is an idiot so he is ignored. I have Morgahn set up with [skill]song of restoration[/skill] and other chants with a couple of spear skills to go along with it. Zenmai doesn't get used either because I don't know enough about Assassin's to give her a good skill bar. And last but not least I use Melonni with [skill]avatar of melandru[/skill] for condition heavy areas or if I just want a break from Koss.

Depend on where i am.

Usually i will use this setup.

Me: MM
Olias: MM
Zhed: SF Nuker
Dunkoro: LoD Healer (Yes, you need to micro the LoD)

Dual MM works in most places. 20 minions as meat shield is the best things now in pve. I still missed the no minions limit.

PVE in normal mode is all about efficiency of killing.

I notice most setups so far use hero monks. I have not found this necessary.

My three heroes:

Olias: MM with LOD as the elite
Zhed: SF Nuker/Me with inspiration for energy mgmt / interrupt
Acolyte S: Same as Zhed

With Olias throwing in the random LoD as needed, I only need one Hench Monk. That allows just that much more firepower.

All my heroes have Ranger secondary and they each have a lvl 20 pet, that makes an 8 man party an 11 man party, pets dont share loot, dont get rez minus and add 3 bits of extra damage to a fight, heck, they can even off tank if healed and prot well.

I use my R/M with both hero rangers and Masters of Whispers (MM). I and my ranger heroes have Black Moas as pets, the heroes run a interupt/degen build while I go degen/dmg with conflag for the extra kick. We finished every mision w/masters and have captured every skill in a little over 7 weeks. I modify a little from mission to mission but basically its been "one size fits all".

What Elites do you give your ranger heroes, cause if they're interrupt degen I can think of a few to give them. How well are the ranger heroes at interrupting anyways?

I don't really stick with just one set of heroes, and most of my heroes for each character are set up differently so as they work well with the profession I'm playing.

My main character is Elementalist. I usually use Earth Magic. My most used heroes would be:

Hero 1: Sousuke - Earth Elementalist {Elite: Unsteady Ground}
Hero 2: Tahlkora - Protection {Elite: Shield of Deflection or Life Sheath}
Hero 3: Razah - Protective Spirits {Elite: Ritual Lord}

Other heroes which get a fair bit of use:
General Morgahn - Command build {Elite: Defensive Anthem}
Olias - Minion Master {Elite: Aura of the Lich}
Dunkoro - Healer {Elite: Light of Deliverance}
Norgu - Interrupter {Elite: Mantra of Recovery}
Jin - Beast Master {Elite: Ferocious Strike}

Not-So-Used Heroes:
Margrid the Sly - Generic Archer / Interrupter {Elite: Prepared Shot}
Master of Whispers - SS Necro {Elite: Spiteful Spirit}
Koss - Hammer Warrior {Elite: Devastating Hammer}
Goren - Axe Warrior {Elite: Eviscerate}
Melonni - Useless Dervish {Elite: Reaper's Sweep}
Zhed Shadowhoof - Air Spiker {Elite: Invoke Lightning}
Zenmai - Useless Assassin {Elite: Shadow Prison}

That's about it. I generally take the heroes which best suit the situation, also sometimes I feel sorry for some of the ones which rarely get a trip out so I'll give them a little treat now and again. I was going to set up Melonni with Ebon Dust Aura as I tried it on another character's Melonni and it worked really quite well.

Sometime when I'm really lazy, me and a couple of guildes would just make a B/P team. Yeah just normal B/P tomb build with a mixture of R/Rt and R/Mo, swap out order nec for whatever really, sometime we even run duel MM (zigger's build). 2-3 human players the rest are heroes, ROT is as easy as it get with this. But we had to switch to a more direct dmg build at the last mission in NF.

Another hero team build is as bad as above It's sf team with tof para, the more sf the more fun, 1 mm and 1 monk. Yeah these are builds for lazy people like me, but they worked like a charm.
