Do Invisibility Spells exist?

Hi,

GW is my second MMORPG. Back in 2002 I played Everquest for a few months. One of the highlight spells/skills was the shaman's Invisibility spell. I was wondering if any class has this spell or any spell that makes you immune-to-attacks by certain NPC's in certain areas.

Example: Immune/Invisible to Charr would make it less tedious to run people in the low level areas.

So does anything like this or remotely like what I'm looking for exist.

I play a Mo/*, where * = Ranger/Warrior/Mesmer depending on the task. (Ya I ascended and a did a couple secondary profession quests)

Basically, no. There a few spells that make you near-invincible for a few seconds (such as Shadow Form, Mark of Protection, or Obsidian Flesh), but nothing like invisibility or outright-invincibility.

Running is possible for the majority of areas, but it takes a fair amount of skill to run some of the higher-level areas- there's no cheat-like "monsters don't attack you" skill that makes the run easy.

One of the reasons why there's nothing like invisibility is that it'd be extremely difficult to make work in PvP. There are a bunch of PvE-only skills coming out (10 Sunspear skills in a week or two, and 50 more in the upcoming expansion), so maybe there'll be some sort of invisibility vs. monsters in there.

Back when AOE reaction was really wonky, you could run if you had Balth Aura cause the AI would run away from you ^^

Thanks for the quick responses. I'm at work at the moment and any website with the word game in the address is filtered....so i can't access that guildwiki page.

What I do like about this game is the amount of skill it takes, I just wish they'd ease up a bit sometimes - like a get of jail free card you can use.

The invisibility spell I'm talking about would be like a signet for PVE only that last 10-30 seconds and recharges after a morale boost or something.

Sounds a bit fair right?

Are you joking? There is absolutely no need for such a spell, and the extra coding required to make you non-detectable to enemy AI will never be done.

And I doubt you even considered how this would cheapen exploring the game.

Invisibility would pretty much equate to invincibility with the exception of getting hit by any AoE damage or effects. This pretty much equates to the effects of [skill]Shadow Form[/skill]. These don't make your character invisible since they can still be seen and targetted, but they can't be hit by anything with the enchantment up except for AoE damage/effects.

Mist form doesn't make any spells fail. It prevents damage from combat.

No invisibility spells as of yet, though, as others have noted, there are other spells/skills which create a similar ability to go about your business without getting bothered too much by attacking monsters.
If you go by the pve help forums, I think there should be a few questions about running in there, and perhaps the answers will assist you.
Also, there have been skills suggested in Sardelac before(as Invisibility itself is usually shot down quite quickly as being overpowered) that would do things such as decrease the size of your aggro circle. If I remember correctly it was a suggestion for a new class or for an additional ranger skill. I'm afraid its been long enough I wouldn't know where to put a link.
We'll just have to wait to see what Anet does with the new skills coming out, as well as for EotN and GW 2.

But that's just my two cents

Invisibility is an often cheap and exploitable mechanic in PvP, and would require counters that didn't exist in GW's inception that would lead to an unprecedented level of build wars. Notice that Anet avoided the issue entirely by going with shadow steps for the Assassin instead of the kind of stealth skills you'd typically expect (especially from "shadow arts")

Crap, well I'm neither an elementalist nor assassin and I don't really plan on playing E ever....and I need to buy factions sometime soon because the assassin skills keep appealing to me more and more everytime I read about them.

When I do my runs, I use 5 spells, whose names escapes, but they do the following protection prayer

Regen Health (Elite Skill)
Turn all dmg into health (maximum 50-something HP)
All attacks do 10-15 LESS dmg
A single attack cant take away more than 10% of your health.
Add an extra 150-180 extra health - lasts as long as enchantment lasts
and then of course I use a ranger running spell, the name of which also escapes me lol. This seems to get the job done most of the time, though I do have a 25% failure rate when trying to run someone from LA to ToA and then to Sanctum Cay.

I'm wanting to maximize my potential on that type of run.

Anyone have any idea what skill I should use.

As I mentioned up above, I alternate between Mo/R, Mo/W, & Mo/Me.

I don't ever plan on going the 55HP route, but I might take the spirit bonding route instead or make my own since it's partially working, but needs some fine tuning.

Without any enchantments and with only two +hp armor mods, I have 565hp. With the +health enchantment, I'm already looking at 700+.

I plan on buying nightfall in the next few weeks - just waiting for my little brother to catch up to me lvl/mission-wise in the game before we both move on.

Thanks for input. I do see why invisibility is unnecessary...

uhhh...you're obviously not a programmer, I'm positive this wouldn't require THAT much coding.but you're right in the sense that there's no need for it.

For 5...10 seconds, target ally moves 33% faster

Even at nothing in air magic, you still get a 5 second 33% faster run. I use it with my mesmer when I need to run her to places. The draws back are when you re-apply it, you need to stop for a second or so, and it cost 10 e. However, the fact that you can keep this up most of the time at 33% faster speed is a good trade off. In normal mode, with that speed, you can break aggro easily with most mobs.

Or, if you get NightFall in the futrue, try

5 Energy, 30 Recharge
For 10 seconds, you move 25% faster. This stance is refreshed whenever you take Elemental damage.
