Currently, I'm a fire specialist, but I was wondering which area you folks think is best. Air, Water, Earth, or Fire and why?

None of them are 'best' overall.
They all have there uses, each has a selection of skills that would make it better than the others at a certain role...
So, tell me... what is this 'best' element answer for?

He just wants to know which one is our favorite.
Personally, I like Earth. It is one of the most versatile elements, with AoE, spiking, and tanking skills.

Vote Earth.

Air and Fire are sort of tied in 2nd place.

Water Last. (although that doesn't mean I dislike it at all)

Not that there's much between them for me tbh.

Definite vote for earth for the versatility. Fire is is last. I'm not saying it isn't any good, I've just never liked to play it.

I run Fire in ABs, for fast AoE damage and speed buffs, and Air in GvG, for blinding and spike assist.

Fire in PvE, tied fire and water for PvP. There's just something satisfying about snaring that warrior charging towards you then calmly walking away.

Fire kills mobs
Water slows stuff down
Earth allows tanking/soloing
Air Spikes a single target

Choose one.

water's definitely the most satisfying in pvp. frozen burst, mind freeze, icy shackles, deep freeze. Fire wins pve.

In PvE Fire would be my favorite, and in PvP Air and Water would be tied first.

In this case, let's really compare. Fire is, by far, the supreme in brute force damage. Earth is less for damage, save for a few spells, and more for defense.
Air is notoriously built for single opponent combat with ,moderate defensive ability(though it is mostly used as defense against melee), and water has the least offense, yet its snares are top notch.

In PvE, how much snaring do you do? And besides farming, how much earth defense does your team want you to bring, or do the monks do that job? Aegis vs Wards? Do you kill individuals in PvE, or mobs? We can all see the PvE front runner, and why,eh?

While, in PvP, Air/Water mixed builds are prominent due to snaring and spiking through armor penetration.

I personally have grown fond of [skill=card]Sandstorm[/skill], but it doesn't do the immediate damage that [skill=card]Searing Flames[/skill] does. It being more akin to [skill=card]Savannah Heat[/skill], it would need a snare to make it ultimately more effective while not doing as much damage as SF. That would take more action and skill, thus bringing up the learning curve to effectively use it. yet, favorites tend to be decided by ease of use or effect of use. I have little use of favorites, but more for what causes mass damage and histeria. That would be either SF+GG+LF or Sandstorm and [skill=card]Churning Earth[/skill]+ [skill=card]Grasping Earth[/skill]. I'm about effectiveness, not whim or pretty frills.

Water in PvP, none in PvE. Snaring in PvP is oh so fun and frustrating for the enemy, especially in FA and alike arenas where there might not be hex removal at all.

in PvE at start of game fire is always good. personally i prefer earth now.
in PvP i like my Iceman build (water) simply because of its dmg potential but mainly because it messes with the enemies head as they are constantly snared got that irritating touche feely noob ranger hassling you? np quick snare then walk away laughing while hitting him with your ranged attacks
air is probably 2nd fave in PvP but i generally go with whatever i feel i need at the time or what the team requires.

Fire in PvE; Air and Water for the only kind of PvP I do regularly -- ABs. Blinding and snaring people is just too much fun, and Fire doesn't have a whole lot to offer in the way of defense, so I don't usually play that unless I have a monk on my team.

Fire or Earth in PvP (I tend to use RA, so AE tends to be effective), Water or Air in GvG.

Generally fire for normal pve, and earth for farming.

For PvE, Fire for the most part with the occasional BSurge or Unsteady Earth bar.

For tardland PvP (Aspenwood/AB), Fire.

For GvG, Protection Prayers (RIP Blurred).

Echo it and use Ice Prison. It works really well in keeping people on the ground.

Fire will always be the best for PvE.

I'm all about some Earth. Sandstorm is my favorite. Cast Sandstorm, count to three hit them with Deep Freeze=dead. Obsidian flame is also nice, I mean yeah the exhaustion sucks but as far as direct armor ignoring damage goes not many skills can top it. Wards can make you a party savior. In the Cathedral mission to get that stupid urn Ward of stability is a life saver. I found that a Paragon, a warder and one lone monk can be all the support a party needs if you can pull well. I also like smite running with my Earth ele. Stone striker+ stoneflesh+Mabntra of earth=0 damage. Gotta love it.

Im a swimmer, so i have to say Water all around. Also, in PvP, i really like snaring ppl and using [skill]Frigid Armor[/skill] to be resistant to SF

In ABs though, the Starburster build is very fun, as is Nuking those control points. For RA, TA, GvG, and HA though, i prefer [skill]Icy Shackles[/skill] and water AoE.
