Mesmer Suggestion.

I was chatting with Alliance the other day and we came up with a decent idea for a skill.

Something like backfire, but instead of being a plain X damage on spell cast, have the spell being cast, cast on teh castor :O. So if an Ele casts flare(lulz) the flare is cast on the Ele. Now you're probably like LULZENCHANTMENTS? Well enchantment and heals will not be cast on yourself or teammates but on the mesmer who used the backfire-like hex on you.

This would make the Mesmer alright in PvE! Though I see this raping any monk boss.

Of course the flare animation wouldn't like boomerang, shoot it out, it stops right before the enemy and boomerangs right back to the caster

So those type of animations would have to just be 'disabled' and unanimated where the caster just takes the damage.

That might be a little potent. There'd have to be a condition to it, like whenever foe casts spell which targets an ally, that spell is cast on target foe instead. It'd also have to have a long recharge time, or it would really be easy to shutdown someone. You'd just have to have enough people which have it. It'd finish off an elementalist quick or at least keep him from using spells.

Im suprised there isnt an illusion skill that allows u make a enemy target you in a place where you are not (using an illusion of u so they dont hit u for x seconds) or other such actual illusion skills.

Yesterday I were against a flare elly with my mesmer. I diverted flare. I diverted mind blast. Fun fun. They just never stop casting no matter whats on them.

I like it, I really do.

Inspired by your idea I came up with this:

Confusion.
15 Energy - 2 Cast - 30 Recharge
Hex Spell. For 1...10 seconds, whenever target foe casts a Spell that targets a foe, that spell is cast on himself.

Annoyance
10 Energy - 1/4 Cast- 20 Recharge
Spell. If target foe is casting a Spell that targets a foe, that Spell is cast on himself. If that spell targets an ally, that spell is cast on you.


Should be a LOT of fun

Shadow form, aura of res, enchantments that only target YOU, would they just fail or what? Since you cant cast them on other people. Seems like if you did it to a monk they would heal themselves instead of their allies more logically due to the description.

Now for the down part. Being able to do this on anyone, including bosses with overwhelming moves, it would probably have to be an elite would it not?

Sounds like a good idea to me but I do not see it working out.
