I'm starting a new monk, one area I don't know much about. I've already read the benefits of each secondary, so I'm really not asking for that list. I'm more trying to find Monks out there (healing for the most part) that have experience and mind telling me what their toughest problem is with his/her character and for that matter the best thing... Thanks in advance.

The toughest problem I've had with my monk is dealing with heroes/henchmen. When you spend so much time targeting allies it's difficult to direct the AI to make effective attack formations or to call targets/focus fire. Smiting monks have no problems with this though.

This problem can be dealt with by teaming up with at least one other human player who can do all the hench management for you. Though when you do get into PUGs early on in your learning curve, it helps a lot if you explain that you're new to being a monk. I've found that most players are gracious enough to take a little more responsibility for their health bars that way and make your job in the team a bit easier to handle.

Biggest problem that a secondary can actually help with is energy management. You're probably going to want to go /E for Glyph of Lesser Energy or /Me for various inspiration skills notably, Channeling.

Channeling isnt so useful in PvE as Inspired/Revealed hex.

As a monk energy will be your biggest hurdle so it's best to go with a secondary to help with that. E.g. Glyph of lesser energy from the elementalist, several skills from the Mesmer inspiration attribute, and a few others from other professions, like a funky paragon motivation skill called Leader's Zeal. Try to look for the best option that suits your playstyle.

There should be a few monk guides on the forum strategy section so you should check those out when you get the time.
