Hard Mode Drops not Dropping
thunderai
I have attempted to vankquish all of the regions in the desolation only to fail at the last boss, but one thing i noticed was that i was not getting anything related to hard mode. No golds, very poor white weapons, just a little gold. Is anyone else seeing almost no drops come down. It is like 1 in 7 baddies produces a drop (which seems right with 8 people playing), but the drops I do get are whites, and no very often is their even gold let alone gold weapons.
Neo Nugget
i got a passage scroll the first time i went to kill scar eater yesterday O.o
Alas Poor Yorick
I suspect you are doing it with full party of heroes and henchies?
Problem is, even though gold drops are not affected by scaling, the heroes and henchies still take their share and stand a good chance of getting the gold drops.
Unfortunately, to get the real benefit of gold drops in hard mode you have to find a place to farm solo.

or team with 7 other people. you'll actually see all the drops then
Lord Natural
First couple days of HM I was getting a lot of gold drop's and lockpicks with a full team. Since then the drops have been reduced to basically the rate of old normal mode. Maybe HM solo farming is better, but with a full group it doesn't seem worth it at all, other than for locked chests.
Kook~NBK~
I think it's all a matter of luck. I just vanquished Flame Temple Corridor & Dragons Gullet with me + 5 H/H and picked up 3 golds (one a al 16 r9 max shield with the -5/20% always mod), a ranger tome, a couple of dyes, and about 4k worth of gold & misc. junk out of about 200 total enemies. Not too bad for low level areas.
Cale Roughstar
I have done plenty of solo farming HM and have been pretty dissapointed with the drops so far. Only thing worth selling has come from chests.
MagicWarrior
I also believe the anti farm code is still intact. I've been playing hard mode with a full group of henchies... and my drops are horrendous. I haven't seen a gold drop in two full weeks! Majority are either gold coins or white merch crap.
Phantom Gun
Well i'm not going to point fingers or anything, but I to havn't had any luck in HM. I tried going solo as well and still nothing but white, blue, and sometimes purple merc trash. That is if they drop anything at all. The only good thing I got was a monk tome, even though it just sits in my storage.
I wasn't that lucky before hard mode either so I guess it's normal for me. Maybe now that I got the armor I want I should start investing in chest runs. Doesn't one of the titles help increase your chances for better loot? Maybe when they did that they something got screwy for people without the title. Don't know what's up.

Something just doesn't seem right about hard mode. Other than it being harder... I haven't gotten anything good out of it in terms of loot.

I used to believe that there was anti-farm in HM despite Gailes statements claiming there was not code in HM.
Lately I'm starting to believe it's just all random. There were some threads about this topic and some people compiled some nice data that showed it was random luck and no code existed. I believe this data was linked from gwonline.net.
Farming is and has always been about persistience. Don't give up just keep killing stuff and the drops will come.

Well, I've been getting a lot more golds than usual in NM. For example, doing just the Iron Mines of Moladune bonus (no infusion) with 3 heroes, and the rest hench I got 2 gold armour drops, one from the first mob and one from the thing you have to kill for the bonus, but over the past few days, this seems to have been the trend - lots of golds, I've definately gotten more golds than dye drops over the last 3 days (2 dye, about 8-10 gold).
Alas Poor Yorick
The place I farm solo in HM is trapping the vamps in Urgoz Warren -
I really have not seen any change since the time when the vamps were suiciding and dropping loot - the ratio of golds has been pretty much constant. Yes. there are long stretches of nothing but white. But then I will get several runs with 1-3 golds in them. Overall, the average has remained constant. So I don't think there is much of a "farming code."
However, what people forget is that the vast majority of golds aren't worth much. They don't really make up for the constant steam of white, blue and money drops from before the loot nerf - oops, I meant scaling. Yes, there is always the chance that the right one will drop with perfect stats that will make it all worth while (got a req 9 elemental sword on my third lb/ss run). But short of that golds most often provide more in salvage than they do in cash.
Fact is, if you are running a full H&H team - you will probably make more money in Normal Mode. Cash drops happen more frequently, HM is weighted toward item drops, and at least you get 1/8 of the total cash - which is better than the nothing you get when the henchies take your items.
At least that has been my experience.

I have farmed an area that has 12 easy to solo dragon moss. Usually I'll do about 10 runs, I'll be lucky to get 1 gold. Are you going to tell me that out of 120 dragon moss, IN HARD MODE, that I should only be getting one gold? I know that there's obviously probability to take into consideration, but I have been doing this for many months.
ForgeWhelp
I solo the titans outside of Lions Arch and get 1-5 golds EVERY run, killing 60-80 titans in 30-40 minutes.

I haven't HMed as much as other people but what I've seen from it drop-wise hasn't been all that great so I have little incentive to go there often.

I've been vanquishing Cantha and I've gotten plenty of good stuff so sorry.

The drops are weird... a friend from DVDF gets so many elite tomes... either from enemies or chests. I generally get crap... i went through a day or 2 of been the only 1 to get Warden armours... but that seems to have stopped too now.
arcanemacabre
Eh, I get decent stuff in HM. No complaints here. No matter how many times I repeat an area, I get the same random occurrence, not diminishing returns.
Art Of Perfection
First day of hard mode I got 3 golds a mission WITH HENCH and tomes and all. Recently even soloing I've gotten NO golds or tomes and have heard popular farming spots like outside nebu or whatever it's called were nerfed.
I see anet sticks with its promises of good drops and riches

There's no way Gaile is lying to us. She's either:
1. telling the truth, and there really is no anti-farming code
2. Anet just told her to tell us that there's no code even if there is, in which case you could make a case for her lying, but she wouldnt be allowed to tell us something that Anet didn't want us to know.

elite tomes, they exist??? Have yet to get one, and recently havent gotten any reg ones either.....though I have been getting better stuff on my NM quests etc....
I notice if I stop playing one of my toons for say a week or two they get better stuff, so I would say that anti-farming is still here, maybe renamed, but alas still here.

Kotetsu Rain
I just think that HM drops are okay but that the drop rate for Elite tomes are really low.
For a joke I decided that instead of warming dyes last weekend I decided to see if I could farm Elite Necro Tomes from Sessk, Woe Spreader using the A/E Solo Green Farmer build. The whole weekend I tried AND:
Got 1 Passage to the UW Scroll
Got 1 Passage to FoW Scroll
4 gold items
7 Woe Spreaders
Warrior Tome (normal)
NO Elite Tomes
You make a conclusion

Hard Mode stuff does drop. I've wurm farmed for LB/SS points last weekend (Usually in a party of 6) and I saw many golds. I got a gold one in the 2 or 3 runs. Nothing spectacular, but it does drop.

Drops are much lower than the beginning at the introduction of HM.
Most of the golds I have are from chests. Yes chests will grant you great drops. However, it is at the expense of 1k200 to 1k500. And it can drop some purple from these chests.
Just vainquish an area without taking any lockpick, you'll be disappointed.
The ratio risk/reward is so low that only solo farming is interesting.
Sophitia Leafblade
Ive been doing Tryia HM missions with a couple of guildies and we normally get 1-5 gold drops between us, i notice also that upon completion of objectives in HM most chests spawn. Such as when we completed the bonus mission in Dunes and chest spawned right next to me which was handy , theres been numerious purple drops too. As a person whos always had terrible luck with drops i have to say the HM drops are alot better than the drop rate ive had pre-HM.

As well I find that it's very un-random. For instance, I'll get 2 dyes in a single run and none for 6 runs. Over all it's kinda random but the frequency almost seems charted.

For me, drops in HM are about as good as drops in NM before.
I get about 2 goldies a week, and nothing else that is special. Before Hard Mode came out, I got about the same when doing quests, missions.
In the beginning of HM, I sometimes got 2 golds a day, or even per mission/quest. Now, it seems it's away again. I think they secretly still decreased everything to 1/8th, like they wanted to do in the first place.

I have a guildie that pops elite tome after elite tome from HM chests while we're vanquishing, often multiple per area. I've seen 3 in 40 areas vanquished. No one in my guild has ever seen a passage scroll. Tough luck I guess.
freekedoutfish
I have to admit that compared to when HM was first added, to now! The drop rate for tomes, golds and dyes in hard mode seems to have fallen.
Maybe its just bad luck. But when I was doing Tyria in HM, I was getting golds nearly all the time, along with quite a few golds.
But while doing Cantha in HM, the drop rate was evidently lower!

7 golds
15 purples
2 tomes
.-.
thats from 5 HM farm runs.
I imagine if i went with people, id have seen more gold drops.

Aside from a lock pick that dropped in HM and subsequently opened (then broke the pick) a chest that offered a nice gold- I have seen no other golds.
I'm not a hard core player so my 'experience' is indeed limited- but the only thing HM has offered me is challenge. I am (financially) rewarded more in NM soloing than in HM (solo or teamed).

I vanquished 10 zones on the weekend w/H&H and the only golds were from chests. I spent more on lockpicks than received from the loot vanquishing. No repeated zones.
When HM was introduced, I did solo a lot of areas and was impressed with the loot.
Now, I dont think its worth it to vanquish a chapter.

I've run H/H and teams with a full party of Rl players. TBH, it seems like the drops are a lot worse than they used to be before HM. I'm talking about when it was just one difficulty and teams would see 2-3 golds in a mission or running a long quest. In HM, now, we're lucky to see two. most is purples and blues and whites or craft materials. Lockpicks break opening chests for a white skill tome or purple rune...
maybe its just me, but I get better money chest running in NM =/ Is quicker and I see more golds.

Ok Im getting really sick of this crap. Gaile says that the devs read this forum, so Im calling them out. I dare any dev to get himself a set of manhood and come on this form and tell us if there is or isnt some kind of anti-farm code. And I dont mean a quick note re-hashing what is on the update notes. Also please don't just talk about re-zoning over and over. I want you to say if loot has been nerfed or designed to slow down over time.
P A L P H R A M O N D
Last two days I have gotten 3 gold Armors (sup Death best), a gold Jade Sword (req 13), 3 Lockpicks . . . and an Orange Dye! While (trying) vanquishing some Luxon areas and farming faction. All Heroes/Hench too.
