What made you name your charater?

Grim Weeper - my first character, just me trying to be smart..
Ooo Pretty Fire- Originally an ele (Thus the name), but remade as a warrior, my most played character, despite me hating the name now.
Lullaby To Paralyze- Mosquito song from QOTSA/ the album.
Desert Sessions - Alternate band for the QOTSA singer..
Illogical Harm - Was listening to a song, changed words slightly to suit what a mesmer does.

well the moonlight surname I *hehe* stole from a friend, and the first names were just names I liked.. first names are:

al my chars have the last name "Van Valnor". This was taken from a comic series called Thorgal where a assasin like female character was named "Chris Van Valnor" (dutch version )

My wife and brother also play this game and use the same last name to show the family ties... anyway, here my toons:

monk: Tanatloc Van Valnor (tanatloc = other char from same comic)
ele: Rahl Van Valnor (rahl = wizards last name from fantasy book)
necro: Jagang Van Valnor (jagang = bad guy from same fantasy book)
ranger: Sparrow Van Valnor (someone wants to look like mister Depp)
dervish: Muad Dib Van Valnor (hey... the guy rides worms... it had to be him)
warrior: Galatorn Van Valnor (comic again... typo here too)
assasin: River Van Valnor (from "Serenity" film/series)
ele 2: Nicci Van Valnor (nice looking female magician from same book)
mesmer: Shota Van Valnor (same book... not really happy with this one..)

it's always good fun if someone whispers you when they recognise the reference and let you know...

and got some pets named: Tweety, Thorgal, Pino (= big bird) and Gargamel... luckily there's no need to be original when naming you're pets :-)

giga strike: the name was made about 7 years ago and was simply a combination of a couple words that i liked. it was also partly inspired by digimon.

ashley soulripper: my brother thought it sounded cool.

melandru chick: a female ranger.

X odins wrath X: my brother thought it sounded cool.

As a former table top RPG player/GM, I like to make all of my characters unique, so all of my names have a background behind it. And some of them even included some research on the internet to find names in other languages (for Factions and NF). Programs for creating names, usually used in other RPGs also helped. The list:

ACC#1:
Agrios Invictus (W/Mo): agrios is my alter ego on the net, it was the natural choice for my first char. It comes from a music and has origins on acient greek too. Since I like "hero" concept, making him /Mo reminds the archetypical Paladin class on D&D.

Daicev the Red(E/N): Daicev was my first and only villain char on a D&D like campaign that I was playing with some friends. Thats why hes originally E/N. the Red comes of the sound of the name, looks like russian. So, Red=Russian. Got it?

Raven Esper Scout (R/Me): Thats my least enjoyable name. Raven its cool, because its lonely attitude matches with the ranger profession. But since hes a /Me I decided to find some word that remind me some psychic powers and came up with Esper. But It wasnt good yet, it lacked something. So I came up with scout. Still better, but not good.

ACC#2: At the time, there was no available separate slots to buy, since I wanted to play all classes I decided to get another acc.

Keyra Blackthorn(N/W): Keyra comes from a south american girl that rocked the internet with her natural attributes some time ago. Blackthorn its a good name to an "evil" char, and came originally from GURPS. I Decided to make her /W so she could use a fellblade properly.

Scarlet Leene(Me/E): Scarlet its cos she is a red haired bombshell, and Leene comes from a videogame char. Bombshell=bomb=explosion=fire= /E.

Holy Wushia(Mo/R): Some of my fave names. Holy its because hes a monk, and Wushia is the name for that martial arts genre with people flying and doing some supernatural feats. I decided to make it /R to remind the idea of the japanese Zen Archers.

And then, extra slots came and I abandoned my secondary acc. When Factions came I decided to make a Necro and a Mez, my favorite chars of the acc#2.

Kshatriya Sheetal(N/Rit): Thats tough. These are two Indian names meaning "cold" and "noble person". Something like "Queen of the Cold". And Cold=death magic, she was a MM with Ritualist secondary, to improve the "deathly" appeal.

Fei Luan(Me/Mo): for my second mez, I decided to make her look like some kind of J-pop female singer, so I could use a red hair again. One of the words of her name means red in Chinese.

For Nightfall I decided to have some Arab/African names and, for the first time, going metagame when choosing a secondary class.

Muse Johara(P/W): Muse cause she is a inspiring leader and Johara means jewel in arab. I tried to make her look like some cross of Beyoncee and Storm (x-men). The warrior shouts became a natural choice when thinking of a secondary class. And the warrior weapons have good synergy with heavy armor.

Zahid Asad(D/W): His name contains words meaning "Pious/Devout" and "Lion" in arab. For an unknown reason, some Muslim names I tried to choose were not avaliable. I chose warrior secondary to compensate his medium armor with stances.

My war is based off of my old RP character Nelo Disaresta which is split based from devil may cry and disgaea.

My ele i think was my next char is based from a random thought i had Deepfreeze Assassin

My monk i made during the naruto phase which i sorely regret lol Uchiha Black Sheep

Mesmer....same reason X I Neji Hyuga I X and anyone who wanst to argue its 2 u's im basing this from japanese spelling and subtitles. =P

aaand the same with my actual assassin (i like to be confusing) Byakugan Half Breed

my rit, derv, and para are all based from my war. rit: Nelo The Sable (also somewhat from final fantasy 7:dirge of cerberus) derv: Nelo the Reaper and para: Commander Disaresta

Chia Roscuro- Its an art technique that uses light and shadows, good for a rit plus I think Chia is a cool name

Me Thunk Things-explains pretty much what I think of warriors
Relm Incendie- a fire Nuker, Kinda fits.

I have had a Kagome(like inuyasha) and Krawl (char name in same story as aly)

To make a short story long, I have a daughter. Ever since she was a little baby she used her feet to touch things. I call it "monkeyfooting" (like the apes in the Planet of the Apes remake, using their feet to write, etc). So as a playful nickname I call her "Monkeyfoot". Her middle name is Rayne, and sometimes when I'm feeling affectionate I call her "my raindrop" or "Raindrop".

So I named my mesmer Raindrop Monkeyfoot. She's now my favourite character, just past 7 mil XP and counting.

Some other names

Tortoise Nervosa - There was this Night Court episode and Dan was a in a big hurry, but his client moved really really slow, the client had "tortoise nervosa". Kind of like my reflexes when monking.

Five Minute Major, and Red Wingstorm - I'm a hockey fan, Detroit Redwings in particular.

Icy The Light - Icy Dead People was taken, so this will have to do.

Locutus Of Boing - A play on Star Trek's Locutus of Borg, I thought it was funny at the time.

Two Dozen Whiskeys - One of my favourite pass-times.

Eye Of The Donut - Just thought it was funny.

Meatier Shower, Sirius Dogbreath, Why July, Bonds Eye - I love playing around with words.

So me and my friend were talking on GW, and he made up this whole story about how in WW2 we defeated the Germans by training dogs to run under German tanks and then strap mines onto their backs.

Then we hit on the idea that we could do the same things with pandas if we were ever in a war with China. It would also work perfectly since the Chinese would never shoot a panda.

I'm Chinese. I thought that it was the leetest idea ever. 2+2=?

Therefore, all my names begin with Leet Panda. The part after that depends on the class. Kills for warrior, Blights for monk (made it and made all the PvP weapon sets and armor back in the days of factions, never wanted to remake it), Summons for rit, Appears for sin, Shoots for Ranger, Annoys for Mesmer, Is Magic for Ele.

Undead Gun:from CS, i used to play it alot, and that's the name i use in there
Morlin Ebonstar: my 1st war just wanna him be tough
No mercy forever: mesmer, meant to shut down everything
Chase My arrow: ranger
Cat Eyed Lich: ele, seems to be evil witch
Afficted Nurse: was meant to be those afflicted, but spelled wrong
Soulless Intuition: rit, Intuition is from MTG, a card game
Shadowy Infiltrator:Sin, Infiltrator also from the card game MTG
Stick in your face: para, just for fun
Reap the Reaper: dervish, also for fun
Serra The Exlated:2nd war, both serra and Exlated are the angel in MTG card game
Lips of the Demon:2nd ele, hinder's song Lips of an angel

I was playing back in the betas, and there we're sample names(forgot the one i based this one off), and I labled him Dark Myth enventually. Then A-net had a character wipe, and renamed him Lost Myth. Then another and labled him Dark Synth. Stuck ever since.

Me/Mo: Blooregarrd Q Kazoo

-i got that name from "Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends". Its a cartoon on cartoon network.

My warrior: Derek Crown Guard - Influenced from a series of books that I read. A character named Derek Crownguard

My Assassin: The Minister of Sin - Came from the lyrics of a Symphony X song.

Fire Ele: Lady Thersaadi - Dunno, just made it up.

Dervish: Qamar Nadir - Same as above

Ritualist: Luthien Ciryaton - First name comes from a character in Lord of the Rings. The lady Luthien, and I made up the Surname.

Earth Ele: Kanan Stoneflinger - First name is from the same series as the first, elven king Kith-Kanan. Second name is because of the earth ele part.

Ranger: Alirath Forgedawn - Just made it up

Necro: True Flameseeker - Lich Lord be Damned! I AM THE FLAMESEEKER.

Defective Ambulance: I just started, wanted to play a monk and didnt think i could do it >>

Jaden Wilder: No clue, but this is quite fitting for a female ranger IMO

Tobias Wilder: Nephew wanted a brother for jaden

Here's the names I usually use for my pvp characters.

Varg Azagthoth (named after Varg Vikenres from the band Burzum and Trey Azathoth from the band Morbid Angel)

Izlude Deschain (named after Izlude Tingel from Final Fantasy Tactics and Roland Deschain from Stephen King's Dark Tower books.

Albert Grishnackh (Albert is my first name, Grishnackh is part of Varg Vikernes' stage name)

For Knot - Paragon named after the "For Knot!!" shouting meme my friend and I adopted. Knot is a mutual friend of ours who cannot play Guild Wars, and I'm sure he still has no idea we do it.

In Memory Of Senna - My tribute to Ayrton Senna.

Rebecca Siddons - Named after one of the key characters in System Shock 2 who is generally overlooked by most players who have never beaten the game.

Spazzer Ravana - Adopted the last name as a reference back to the Shivan Destroyer SD Ravana from Freespace 2.

All my characters have greek first names. It's something I always use for naming RP chars in games I play. I'm a pretty big fan of greek mythology.

Helene Flashfinger - was thinking of Flamefinger, after a diablo2 boss in Tristan - Geleb, but decided to make her an air ele so I went with "flash".
Andromede Amidala - Star Wars marathon I had some days prior to creating her.
Antigone Amidala - Andromede wanted a little sister.
Persephone Atreides - eating hallucinogenic spices while riding sand wurms FTW.
Athene Ashurtashpi - named after a Morrowind daedra shrine Ashurnabitashpi but the character creator couldn't handle so many letters.
Ariadne Shadowspan - ritualist mule named after my first gw char I deleted.
Terpsychore Naiomea - can't remember where I got that from.
