3rd Birthday present

Hi folks!
My first day at GW Guru, and I already have an idea... The 3rd year of GW isn't too far off anymore, and B-day means B-day presents! So folks how do you like this idea of mine: 3rd Birthday present (when charracter is 3 years old) is a... Minipet Yourself! It will do the things you do: play drums, dance,.. It will cheer when you are fighting and moaning and bowing its head when your'e dead... And! It's appeareance will depend on yours! So if you are wearing par exapmle, Kurzick 15K, a Crustaline Sword and an Exalted Aegis he will also be wearing it! You remove your helm and replace it by something else, so does he! And if you trade it to someone the Minipet Yourself will change into that player! So if you guys like my idea... Tell me! I'll be glad to hear your reponses

Its 11 months off... i'd say thats far off. Seriously its *slightly* too early to be thinking about lots of suggestions so Anet can ignore them and give us another mini-pet.

No, wouldn't that be a little bit hard? A minipet that changes every time you change your armor? The only way I think it could be done is by making a mini version of every weapon / armor skin in the game, and basically make the minipet into a mini person wearing your armor, which I suppose would take up a fair bit of server space.

11 months is a long time. It's silly to speculate when we don't know what kind of creatures we're going to encounter in GW:EN.

I reckon a mini-norn or mini-sylvari could be possible. Maybe a mini-destroyer?

Agreed. However ANet has already stated as Auction House is not possible for GW1 and is still a "maybe" for GW2.

I think that Minipets were some form of "leveling" the market, originally. But their purpose is somewhat in a curious state now. Correct me, if I'm wrong, but I believe they are one of the few things in GW that do not have a function whatsoever. While they are a nice "thank you" gift, I think something the public can use is a more amiable subject than just a prestigious element.

Now tell me how an Auction House or an improved trading system would account as individual Birthday gifts?

i would like this and it would not be that hard, weapons and armor already scale, when you make a small character they are smaller, so this would just be an extreme version. also the changing of the armor would not be hard, your model is already loaded so they just gotta duplicate it and shrink it. easy as that.

also i would love this, and i think minipets are the best presents cause think about it. GW is a game about skill not time played, it says so on the box. so how do we say thanks to the players that stuck with it without ruining the game for those who are getting started, a vanity item.

actually it would be very hard, considering they have to do it for every single char.
now maybe if you could buy one from anet it would be pretty cool. but the chances of it happening are slim and none.

11 months is far too far away, and part of the purpose of mini pets is that they can be sold, and therefore keep the market afloat. Who wants a mini pet of someone else? And if everyone gets one on their 3rd birthday there's no point in buying anyone elses.

At this current time they are a collectors item. While it would be cute, it would serve even LESS practical purpose than they do now.

And I agree with Tarun. Rather than spending so much time and energy on creating mini pets, it would be good to have them work on something useful instead. (which I think Bazompora, was Tarun's point, therefore not really off topic at all. Try to understand the point of someone's post before you start challenging them.)

Not everyone will be close to his/her 3rd birthday in 11 months, so there still will be a market.

How can it serve for less than nothing (which is how much purpose all miniatures so far have)?

• The system for miniatures is long time in place, scaling existing models for new miniatures wouldn't be a capital effort;
• people have so much been hyped towards miniatures (by Arenanet themselves), that it would cause widespread severe dissatisfaction, if the (albeit unspoken) promise of new miniatures would be taken away.
• Tarun was diverting the subject of the discussion towards another AH & trade discussion, so yes he was deviating off-topic (I don't go post in the AH suggestion thread they'd better focus on miniatures, don't I?).

Well, thanks to the people who /signed my purpose. And also thanks to the people who didn't. But guys think about it! I think it would be awesome... And adding an auction house will be handy but... Then we will start copying WoW! Now I'm realy scared already, I think GW2 will be something like 'The Cheaper Version of WoW'. But never mind... Thanks again for visiting my first post^^

Quoted for truth, I sold my 2nd anniversary pets anyway, I really couldn't care less about minipets, at least I get some gold for it from someone with too much platinum to spare.
Also they're randomly picked so it doesn't even reward you for going that extra mile in GW, people that check their accounts once every few months can get better pets than people with over 10 million exp characters and loads of maxed titles. That's not even really fair, but a different point altogether.
But Anet don't make the same mistake again to think we all want pets. General opinion isn't very creative and the whole concept of a present other than a minipet seems to be above and beyond the limits of the imagination of your average players. Last time they gave us minipets because apparently that was what had been suggested the most. Geez, I wonder why... If the first anniversary present had been special offhand items, then I can bet the most heard suggestion for this year would not have been minipets but even more special offhand items.
So my advice to Anet if they want to make people happy with the anniversary in 2008 is to just ignore the whole idea of minipets and make up something cool and new that won't be randomly distributed and also somehow relevant to your character. That will make the most loyal fans (those that have played throughout that whole period) the happiest.

Woooow! Maybe it would be cool to use the minipet Yourself as some kind of personal henchman! Hell yeah... It would be cool if he could fight for you!

i think a system of you can update the pet for 20k if you want to change its armor or weapon would be needed

secondly stop complaining about no auction house in every single mini pet or eventpost it is getting annoying and does not apply.
