The PvE faction farming thread
icymanipulator
I was one of the people who never in a million years would have bothered to farm up faction. I sort of regret not hitting at least the first title now that the new skills are out.
The best spot I've found so far on the Kurzick side is The Eternal Grove via Vasburg Armory. A near total clear out including the bosses will get you ~2000 faction in a run in normal mode...not the greatest considering it will take 100,000 to hit the first rank.
Short and sweet, where are you folks doing your PvE (non-AB) priest bonus faction farming?

Silent Surf and Gyala Hatch explorable.
Lots of mobs and they're a decent challenge.

I'd sure love to find a decent PvE spot. Your EG spot seems good, how long does it take? I actually, for the first time ever, started ABing this weekend....it's really a lot of fun, but frustrating when you wait about 5 minutes to enter a battle, and then lose the battle and only get like, 600 points.
kazjun
Haven't tried EG yet, but you may want to try areas with faction quests. Ferndale gives you like 800 free from the supply run and then the scouting. If you're going to go and clear the place anyway. Though for timewise, you may be better off with just supply running or trapping the house battle. I mean 2000 is nice, but clearing the whole place? Takes a while don't it? Running supplies, is 400 a pop and even someone just starting should be able to do it under 5 minutes easy. Heard some even shaved it down to like 2 mins. Certainly quicker and easier than clearing whole areas. Boring though. Same with fighting the convicts on the luxon side. Easy as, just bring frozen soil to stop any res. The longest bit is running outside and then going to the challenge starter.
Haven't actually bothered FF for a while now, so maybe they've changed up the mobs or something, still nothing you shouldn't be able to run if you wanted too. And not sure how they'd stop you from trapping the house battle. Not sure how it would match up to AB gains, since you have to factor in wait times for AB. Goodluck anyway.

The Eternal Grove run will take about 30-40 minutes depending on how well put together the team is. Its the identical run to the boss farming route which can be found in detail....

I hit my limit with AB. The battles tend to be extremely lopsided particularly in Fort Aspenwood. I'd rather rely on my own skills to clear PvE zones than a haphazardly thrown together PvP team any day of the week. This also says nothing for AFKers which are still a huge issue.
Edit: I have chosen priest rewards over repeatable quests simply because even slim you have a chance to score a rare drop or a boss drop. It sounds nuts but on my third run in EG I got a Scar Eater, it made my day!

Hmmm 30 min at about 2,000 faction....thats 50 times to get 100,000 faction, so if i did it right it would take 25 hours to get 100k faction? Maybe someone should double check my math lol. if its right faction farming is a much better option. But seriously someone check my math

There are a couple of threads in the farming forum on this:

With effective use of boss bonuses you can get ~8-10k faction per hour in HM.

Standard repeatable-quest faction farming is definitely faster, but good god does it get old. I really prefer the bounty method.
That said, I don't really know any good spots yet. I got 5000 from clearing Morostav Trail in HM, but that took a good hour or so.

@Neo Nugget - I never claimed it was the most efficient, it just beats the endless monotony and adds some more options now that we have an NPC bonus who rewards per kill.
If you follow the map in the link and ONLY hit the bosses and surrounding groups you could probably do the entire run in around 15 minutes and net yourself around 1000 faction maybe more. If you did it in HM its probably closer to 2000.

Farm "Tarnen the Bully" outside of house in HM and kill up to 25 before him. Takes roughly 5-8min. max (once you figure out a good team build) total run nets you about 500-550 points (due to boss bonus). Rinse repeat.
I would recommend making a new char and buying skills for them.
Assuming you get 500points every 7min. you'll get a total of roughly 4k total in a one hour span. roughly 21k in five hours. After buying skills thats a total of 42k after five hours of farming.
Still very slow...but a start.

I have been doing Rhea's Crater, leaving from Aurios Mines. Lots of bosses, and the sharp corners and narrow confines help you nuke and protect your eternally retarded heroes and henchies. Also, in HM the Oni on the bridge have been dropping me good stuff.

Jade Arena repeatable Luxon quest (400 faction) can be done in 5 minutes or less as long as you bring Frozen Soil. I used this quest to get Legendary Survivor.
Vahn Roi
Jade Arena is pretty nice when it doesn't glitch.
Am I the only one that feels having the double faction weekend a week ago rather than this past weekend was a bit of dirty trick on anet's part? I'm among the people who used it as a chance to finally farm some jade for 15k Luxon armor so I spent all my faction on jade before you got the title bonus for doing so.
I mean how many people saw Luxon/Kurzick skills coming?

Yeah we kinda got ripped off. It doesn't help that there is no equivalent to the Sulfurous Wastes or RoT in Factions either. The boss bonuses seem a little out of line considering both SS/LB have a maximum effective title of 50,000. You need twice that to even attain the skills.
Esprit
So, you are looking for a quick way to earn faction? I'm fine with there not being a way you can make 2,000 faction in five minutes, it devalues the title.

Ditto. On the Luxon side, this has to be the fastest, easiest way to get Xp + faction. On the other hand, it gets really boring really fast.

What grind doesn't get boring after a short period of time?

Nah I meant both ways of doing it aside from NPC blessing or repeatable quest. I have just lost all patience for AB and specifically Fort Aspenwood competitive mission is out of hand with AFKers.

Nothing can beat old good Lutgardis FFF few months there and savior was mine .
Neo Nugget
Yep thats what im doing today. Im at 53k on my title, i would like to make decent progress today toward my 100k goal.
Sword
this title is still ridicolous ... 10 million is an insane of amount of repetive farming
icymanipulator
Surely there are people out there with R12...not many but there has to be at least a couple. I'd actually like to see how many people have hit R10 and what sort of dedication of time/effort that would take to reach. In the absence of insane PvE farming spots on par with Sulfurous Wastes or the Stygian Veil its gotta take a long while of doing nothing but farming faction.
As an example if you ran just nothing but the arena on the Luxon side @400 per you'd be looking at 12,500 trips to hit 5 mil, 25,000 to hit 10 mil. I can't see doing that many trips to anything for the sake of maxing out a title. It even puts it far above lucky/unlucky and those titles are at least afk-able.

Yeah when i was ff'ing today i saw a r10. But i would rather the priest points count toward a different title that the skills would be linked to, like a factions version of sunspear.
The Great Al
the max is 10 MILLION? Figure, FFF nets you on average 1,000 points every 10 minutes (probably a bit more, but weighing in some bad runs). 10,000 points for 100 minutes, 100,000 for 1,000 minutes, 1,000,000 for 10,000 minutes, and 10 million for 100,000 minutes. 100,000 minutes is about 70 days of 24 hour farming. If you farmed 6 hours a day, it'd take you 280 days to obtain max.
VinnyRidira
I generally farm Altruum Ruins in hardmode for Faction. You run up the hill avoiding the double group. Kill the wardens to the right and the others on the bridge. Luring one of the bottom groups in. Kill the other bottom group. This is 21 wardens. Go up the path to kill the Necro boss, we have had his green weapon at least 3 times. The 4 extra's in that path get you your 25 before the boss. After the necro Kill the ele boss and go thru to kill the monk boss. 10 minute for 1000k. There are additional things you can do like go into the temple and kill the wardens plus the Ranger boss. Never had him drop his bow. So for another 5 minutes about another 500 faction. I want to try Eternal Grove but find Altruum to be quite adequate and never in the hands of the Luxons.

Unless there has finally been a nerf, the quickest way would be with the Kurzick repeatable quest, I believe there is a specific team build required.
http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:Team_-_Lutgardis_FFF
IMO this is an exploit really, seeing as it is impossible to do the same with the Luxon equivalent quest, and it entails doing the quest in a way never intended.
I believe this was used widely by Kurzick guilds to hold House zu Heltzer.

I was not aware the Luxon's were at this disadvantage.

I believe this was used widely by Kurzick guilds to hold House zu Heltzer. This is a good guild farm as you take 8 players, 4 runners and a door man and three hang abouts - you get 8 * 400 kurzick to feed the ever diminishing Alliance. 10% a day really sucks. Luxon is hard to farm, even getting the initial 10k to get to Gyala Hatchery is a pain in the fundimental orifice.
But I do not have that many people I play with regularly. So Arborstone is where I farm sometimes.

First, do all your bounty hunting in Hard Mode. It goes twice as fast. Second, find a spot that has a bunch of Bosses clustered reletively close together so once you have 25 kills, you can nail one boss right after another and collect several bonuses all at once.
Arborstone has 3 bosses near the Altrumm Ruins door, just to the left.
Eternal Grove has 2 bosses near the door to Vasburg Armory, and another 3 clustered not too much further away.
Morning Veil Falls has 4 bosses near the door to Durheim Archives. The Ritualist Boss can be difficult on Hard Mode though.
All of these locations can net you 1000 - 1750ish Faction in 8 -12 minutes fairly consistantly.
Or, you could do Team Lutgardis Runs for 400 faction in 1.5-2.5 minutes, depending on the skill level of your team.
Or, you could do the Braur Academy Duel of the Houses quest for 400 faction every 2.5 minutes with Heroes/Henchmen. (480 Faction in the same time if you choose to go Hard Mode with the bounty active) I reccomend a dual Searing Flames Hero Setup for this. The Duelists tend to bunch up a lot.

Wow, after reading that Lutgardis build...a designated "door-runner". GJ Anet...G...J...
It's definitely an exploit but I would do it if i were Kurzick.

Nothing beats Kurzick FFF or Luxon Jade Arena runs (with a good build, you can do Jade Arena in 2-3 minutes), however I can imagine doing them repeatedly for more than an hour.
Hard mode boss runs are good because you can get some good items too. I use a There's Nothing to Fear + Save Yourselves + They're On Fire paragon for those (makes any boss in Factions fairly easy).
People have listed some good Kurzick sites for HM boss runs. I have done Boreas Seabed (3 bosses: Sskai, Geoffer, and Milodestus) for Luxon, but I'm looking for some other good Luxon sites.
