Put storage back how it was!
Jongo River
I just don't get this update. It's like when Microsoft tries to update it's OS by moving stuff around and calling it "innovation". Anyway, here's my niggles:
Storage was used as a meeting point by traders - now it's split at opposite ends of an outpost.
The new boxes seem to be at least an equal distance from useful NPCs - making them completely redundant.
The box positions are too organised. The boxes are aligned with straight map edges - OK, that's a bit picky, but from an artistic perspective, it does make the game look amateurish.
It was funny that there were places the agents wouldn't go and just left a box there. That's lost now.
Oh and that central recessed area in Kamadan looks horribly empty.
Please put it back how it was!

It won't change because to be honest, nobody cares. Does it affect your gaming, your skills? No.

Actually, I do kind of miss the Agents being there. I do like the fact that they moved the chests more out of the way, but it was nice to actually walk up to an NPC instead of a faceless box.

I liked the fact that in RoT there were no Xunlai agents, made a difference. But then, the moving of the Xunlai agents was suggested on this forum a few days before it happened in-game making it the fastest time ever for a community suggested change to be implemented

Yeah, Realm of Torment was too scary for the Xunlai.=P
Enko
what was the point of the change anyways?
Lonesamurai
they've moved them? i noticed they put an extra group in Ascalon, but Lion's Arch they are int eh same place, kamadan is just in the little nook where the dying dwarf was at christmas and kaineng is in the same place, but just neatened up...
Sorry, not seeing it, and i like the whole chest thing with one agent (or no agent in the realms of tormeant areas). besides, i like being able to actually open the "Storage Chest" to get to my "Storage"

Wow, changes since I last logged in. I haven't seen the changes in person yet, but I must say so far I don't really like the sound of them...
It was said once before, why fix something that wasn't broken?

Does-it-Matter
There had been a slew of petitions about people saying they would have to run all the way across town to get to Storage and then back, or they'd map in at one point and have to traverse the town to even get near storage. That sort of thing.
So ANet added more storage boxes so persons could better access them and the variety of NPCs without having to run too far.

I honestly had to do a double take on this thread. That someone has complained about this is unbelievable. Does it honsetly bother you, that they...
1) Removd a couple of NPCs and made the storage boxes selectable.
2) Moved them about 2 inches to the left or right in a few outposts.
...if it does, then OMG!!!
I really, cannot see any negative side effects to this. I cant see how, in anyway, this effects gameplay, trading, communications or any aspect of the game.
I spent the weekend moving through quite a few outposts ingame, and I cant say I even noticed they had moved. The only place I noticed a huge change in placement was Kam in Factions.
They moved them (get ready for this) to the side!!!! *GASP!!!
As for them removing a few NPCs and making the boxes selectable!! So what?
Which town? I cant say I noticed that happening!
How has putting the storage boxes at equal distances from the NPC made anything redundant? The NPC is there to actually let you buy storage or expand your account! The boxes are simply there to open your storage!
The boxes are too organised! ROLF! God forbid!!! End of the world stuff here!!
Are you completely sure you know what your talking about. They havent removed all the NPCs and just left a big box by itself. They have one NPC 1 or 2 boxes.
The boxes arent alone.
Im sorry if im being harsh, but this really does go under the catergory of least important thing ever!!
It doesnt need changed back! It has no negative side effects! They probably did it, to try and improve performance by having less NPCs in towns and to make it less cluttered.

i like how it is... as someone said... we're meant to use the chests because there's where our storage is... not in some NPC's pocket...

heehee, level 24 Storage Chests
mimics anyone?
I can see it now... "The Day The Storage Chests Attacked!!!" film at 9

I agree with the OP. I mean the central square of Kamadan looks awfully empty, not to mention that break-dancing beetle in the middle of it. Furthermore, I don't feel comfortable with that all "I'm talking to a Xunlai Chest" thing. Ok, we were all touched by Abbadon but talking to chests? Hellooooooo. Not *my* cup of tea, thankyouverymuch.
Oh, and what's the deal with lvl 24 chest and a lvl 16 Xunlai agent? WTF? Are they preparing us for GW2: Attack of the Chests? Or will we be getting Xunlai Chest minipets for our 3rd birthday? Well, I could go for a mini Chest but only if they gave us a minipet Luggage.
p.s. Also, I'd like to see some more quests involving the Xunlai. We know more about the Mursaat than we know of the people we give our money and stuff to. Where are their headquarters? Where is the Xunlai Academy where their wizards are trained in the Fine Art of Compressing Player's Items? Who is the Xunlai of all Xunlai? Come on aNet! Breathe some life into the most used and ubiqitous NPCs of the game.

I accept I overlooked the possibility of zoning in closer to the new sets, but those locations don't strike me as typical zoning points, anyway.

If so, then why would it need to be near the other trade NPCs?
and when were they ever?

They obviously put them, that way because their actingl like NPCs. I guess selectable objects have to lock onto the grid!! *assumes* And cant be put on an angle!

How else would you open the chest up, unless you could actually select it in a similar way to an NPC?
Granted the system isnt perfect, because they have obviously just replaced the NPC with the storage box image. But im sure thats something they will change.
I just dont understand why any of this is an issue? So they removed some NPCs and just left the crates there! So they put them in a straight line instead of actually on a sque. I just dont see the issue is all!

When the Xunlai agent isn't around, in GW2, you'll have the chance to steal from the chest, but you have to fight the chest in a duel to the death. If you lose, they take all your gold.
Why the crap would I care if they use chests? Get over it.

Yep, I mean't storage crates and no, they don't *need* to be near other NPCs, but I could at least see a use for new ones, if they were. Just putting a second set next to a lesser used entrance seems pointless (especially if it's not a zoning "spawn" point, like the Kaineng example). |
Im going to have to find this storage box next to an entrance, otherwise im not going to understand you on this.

Up the stairs, at the side of the Bejunkan Pier exit. Can't miss it - just look for the spot with no players.

Well... it took 2 years for our characters to learn how to open a box... ¬¬...
I'm proud of them...
Now, for me is normal. Xunali give you the service, and you open your vault.
Now... for the empty space... let's just put something there like... eh... an NPC to make trading easier or smoething like that... Xunlai trade agents, for example...
