New on the GW site: http://www.guildwars.com/competitive...2007/rules.php
A first comment: glad to see these rules categorised and summarised in one place (previously we had to go back to the beta-test news, and to the "general rules", and some of that info was outdated as well).
Having said that, I have a few questions and doubts about these rules (I'm thinking exclusively GvG here, don't know a thing about HvH), maybe you all can help me better understand:
1. "Participants who forfeit a match for any reason are dropped from the remainder of the automated tournament. They still collect all prizes or rewards that they have already earned"
&
"At the end of the rounds of Swiss competition for each tournament, all participants may earn Tournament Reward Points (TRPs) and/or qualifier points (QPs) based upon their final rank in the tournament"
&
"Tournament Reward Points are awarded at the end of a tournament to the top 25% finishers. Only guilds or players who have played at least one game receive points"
Question: there was an update to the rules, during last month, saying that Guilds forfaiting first match would not get any Qualifier Point (QP). Now the rules don't mention this anymore, and only Tournament Reward Points (TRP) are linked to "at least one game played". So has this rule been cancelled?
2. The following two rules in the MONTHLY (monthly, m o n t h l y) Automated Tournaments:
"Automated GvG tournaments have a maximum of 32 participating guilds per event, with a maximum of five (5) rounds of Swiss competition"
&
"When more than 32 guilds or 64 individuals register for a specific automated tournament, additional copies of that tournament are created. Each copy has a minimum of participants: eight (8) for 1v1 and five (5) for GvG. The copies have no more than the previously stated maximums. Thus it is possible, with a large number of participants, for several copies of a tournament to run simultaneously"
&
"Each tournament and its copies offer the same prize opportunities"
Question: I understand these rules apply to the Daily ATS, but how does this work for the End-of-season event? Currently, Tolkano tells us that the June Tournament admits 128 guilds/round, so if 129 guilds register, will we have 2 Tournaments with the same prizes, or the 129th registering guild will be rejected?
3. "Automated Tournament Schedule: The starting times of tournaments rotate throughout the week to provide fair competitive opportunities for participants in all time zones"
Question: is it just me, or are these times for the daily ATS off? Currently, for example, the Sunday evening ATS is set at 20.00 GMT, and yesterday (sunday) it actually started at 19.00 GMT... and it was like that (1 hour earlier) for all the past week, so we assumed all times were anticipated. So who has it right, Tolkano or Anet? xD Note that the scheduled June Tournament is dead right, btw (Tolkano Time = Anet Time)
4. "Monthly Automated Tournaments Championship - GvG Playoffs Participation - At the end of the rounds of Swiss competition, the top sixteen (16) guilds continue in single elimination play to determine the final standings for the playoffs"
Question: how many Swiss Rounds are there in the monthly playoff? the "5 max" listed also for the daily ATS? (in May there were 6 rounds, btw) Will there really be the single elimination play for the top16? (in May, although foreseen in the rules, there wasn't one)
5. -no mention in the rules-
Question: what will be the sequence of Maps for the Tournaments? Will we stick to the current fixed cycle of maps for the daily ATS? Will we have different maps? random maps? which maps for the Monthly Tournament Swiss Rounds? and for the Single Elimination Play?
I would be grateful if anyone with a better understanding or simply more info than me (or, in the best situation, Anet ^^) help me understand these points.
Thanks in advance.
