hi all

ive been playing gw for a little while now and am really enjoying it. the trouble is that due to family commitments i sometimes have to logoff or go afk with little notice, so i cant really commit to a players group not knowing how much time i have. so i was wondering in peoples opinion can the game be played through with just henchies? i know pvp's out, and that's ok, but i would like to go through the storyline and pve area's. i know from reading that henchies aren't as good as people but can it be done? also i only have prophecies but would it be more practical with nightfall and the heroes feature to play through single?

Many thx, sorry bout the length

I've only completed the first two campaigns with henchmen. I've completed Nightfall with Heroes and henchmen. While yes it is possible with henchies, it'll be much more easier and comfortable with heroes in your party (you only get Heroes if you've purchased NF, though).

yes yes and yes.....i have done all 3 campaigns with protectors with henchies. if you happen to have nightfall then hero/hench is the way to go since you can set up their skill bars to compliment your own and vice versa. Granted just henchies is quite hard and will take some patience it can be very much be done.

Yes you can complete the storylines with just henchies. I've completed every mission I've seen so far with only henchies. Some of them will require real players if you want Masters (Eternal Grove) unless you're a super awesome leet player capable of soloing.

I think there is some PvE content that you will not be able to access without real players (The Deep, Urgoz, Fow, etc), but those are high end areas that are not required to "complete" a game. And again, if you're a super awesome leet player you can solo those as well.

However, personally, I think you miss a lot of the fun of the game by always going alone. The henchies just aren't the best conversationalists. My advice would be to find a good guild and team up with guildies for missions and quests. Just tell them ahead of time that you may not be able to stay for the whole mission. PUGs would be really angry at you, but guildies usually understand and accept it if you're upfront about it. (If not, find a different guild)

You sound like me. You can hench/hero everything. You can even ask/pay someone to go to the Underworld or FOW with you just to leave so you can use there heros and explore. I just finished getting Mission / Bonus for Prophesies. I have completed Nightfall and Factions with Hench and heroes as well. My new project I am going to try for masters on Factions and Nightfall with just Hench /heroes. Good luck to you. Try a mission then if you fail and are having problems read Wiki for guides on how to do.

If you are thinking about getting heroes then keep in mind that you have to unlock the skills that they use. If don't play several different classes and don't do any PvP then the number of skills you will be able to equip them with will be limited.
You can do a bit of PvP though in Random Arenas or maybe Team Arenas which will give you the faction you can use to unlock skills you may need.

If you don't have Nightfall, get it now even for just the heroes. They are really great and a lot better than normal henches. I normally have 3-5 guildies to play with most of the time and I don't really pugs anymore.

Last Sunday, for the first time in ages I decided to pug with me ele, on the last mission in NF, and it was horrid. Nobody listened to any tactic, usign hard res, no anti knockdown, not interupt the claw etc. Get wiped, so I bring out my heroes and henches, and went on to killed Abbadon, get master as well.

With the right skills setup, heroes can surpass any human easily. I still like to team up with people as long as they're not pugs. If you on your own alot, get Nightfall now!
