I know GW2 is some time away but I’m looking forward to starting afresh and all that comes with that.

We’ve all seen many changes to GW1 over the past 2 years, some good, some not so good, and many differing player opinions on those changes.

What features from the GW1, past or present, would you like to be retained in GW2 from the start, (PVE or PVP)?

This is not a wish list, (we all would like an in game auction house which has been discussed to death). Specifically, current GW1game features with maybe a few minor helpful suggestions on improvements.

My personal choices would be:

Weapon Inscriptions
Inscriptions gave players the chance to get perfect weapons and took the ‘inflation’ out of those perfect 15^50 weapon prices.

Armour Insignia
Insignia’s gave players choice and flexibility without having to buy different armour sets.

Heroes
I believe Heroes came into GW1 at about the time and would prefer not to have them initially in GW2 if only to promote co-operative play in the new game.

Titles
Yes, but I would like to see more Titles with tangible benefits from level progression.

PVE only skills
The vast majority of skills should be PVP/PVE aligned and balanced as in GW1. However, a small number of non-aligned PVE only skills, as recently introduced, may help diffuse the skill balancing issues of the past. Again these skills can be related to Title level progression or player level progression.

Character Level 20 Cap
I would like to see this retained. However, if this does increase, as has been suggested, then have Level 20 as a ceiling for maximum attribute points so that all players are on an equal footing from that stage. Above level 20 should have no strategic advantage but could, for example, unlock access to different armour skins or weapon merchants.

I've no idea how GW2 is gonna work, if they're taking it in a completely new direction or staying with pretty much the same and "more stuff".

The main reason I like GW is because of all the interesting skills and classes. How there is more than just "Power shot I", "Power shot II", "Heal", "Greater Heal", and so on. I would be very disappointed if they ditched this concept in GW2, though I would be extremely surprised if they did.

It's hard to say if a "higher level cap" would be a bad thing. For all we know, they could make the level cap 500, only you get 2-3 levels for each mob and only an attribute point every 10 levels. Just a crazy random example, but you know what I mean; even if they raise or even lower the overall cap doesn't mean anything. What matters is how long it takes and how much work it is to get there, and how big the gap between level 1 and max is.

Overall I'm not a "what I like now is best" kinda guy. I'm always open for new stuff, and they can revamp and ditch features as much as they want as long as the end product is as fun and interesting as gw1.

I can't stand Forced socialization... especially when it is described as "promoting" co-operative play. Nothing worse than having to stand around for half an hour trying to form a pick up group for a mission... only to have people drop out in the middle of it.

I would prefer if you could always go with heroes/henchies for missions/quests/gaming (and also make it possible to complete them with heroes/henchies)... cause quite frankly, co-operative play (other than with my friends - which most have left GW by now) has been a real pain in GW. If GW2 had forced co-operative play... then my interest in it would plummet.

So... I would like to keep heroes/henchies in GW2.

Undercity... shhh dont tell Gaile =P

Back to Medieval Assassins [MA]

personally i would like to see a lot of the Lore retained (which is obvious) as well as at least some of the old towns...like droks and LA 100 years into the future.

Ide like to see some of the same classes integrated into GW2 if they werent already as well as some weapon skins like fellblades and storm bows. Skill names...maybe with a few updated effetcs or even retain the old ones but either way works for me. i would abso-friggin-lutely love to retain my characters ive grinded several thousand hours for but you take what you can get -_-

as for pvp i like the sound of the world vs world battleground style pvp but i would still like to retain random arenas and HA kinda stuff. but thats just me

Three words: Echo Mending PLEASE! I want it, just don't make it viable. At all. Under any circumstance.
I would like it if they brought the 8-skill bar back in GW2. For me, that would be what really sets the game apart from WoW, where I can have Heal rank 1,2, and 4( I never liked 3 much) and 92 other different spells all on my bar. Also, no pots please.

I hope GW2 will just be an improved GW1, with some (although not too much) inspiration from other games like WoW n Everquest..
BUT.. man i would get depressed if they made it like wow with the lvl things.. its much 2 simple in that game.. pretty much, if you are lvl 70 you are always some of the best players on the server and stuff..
In GW its a lot more about right skills, equipment, and elite skills.. Not about lvls.

Thats what makes GW so good
Its not just as simple as other games, you really have to think about what inscriptions, insignias, and weapons you use !

I would like to see some titles that are profession based such as:

Novice Mesmer: Less than 20 skills for the Memser profession obtained

Advanced Mesmer: Between 20 and 30 skills for the Mesmer obtained

Champion Memser: All normal skills for the Mesmer obtained

Elite Mesmer: All normal and elite skills for the Mesmer obtained

Of course, these titles would only be available for your primary profession, and would be available by character, not cross count titles. I just want to see more recognition for advanced players who have experience on different professions. These are just examples and you can feel free to expand on them.

I want the skill system(8 skill bar/limited attributes/etc..) retained although from the interviews so far it seems like they are planning to dumb it down....

GW2 should keep heroes but not henchies, thus you're forced to socialize, but you can have your choice..

I remember reading somewhere GW2 will have an... "side kick" system like City of Heroes does.
