Help! Computer freezing :(

Ok, well, I was just playing like usual, having no more lag than any other players, but then I went to do the Jokanur Diggings mission on my dervish. Now every time that I get about 80% done, my computer gets like 5k ms and crashes with a *stop error* as microsoft calls it. No pop up boxes or anything, just crashes

So far to fix it i've tried downloading the latest Nvidia drivers (94.24) and it didn't fix it.

My computer specs are -
Windows XP Professional
AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core processor 3800+
1022MB RAM
DirectX 9.0c
NVidia 7600 GT video card - 256 mb

I attached part of my dxdiag too if that helps (the whole thing was too big to upload). I don't know whats wrong, because i haven't had this happen anywhere else, but near the end of the mission my computer just stops :'(

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Anyone wanna lay odds it's the NV4_disp.dll stop error message?

If it is that, is there a solution?

Edit- Yeah, NV4_disp.dll is the message I get sometimes when my computer crashes and restarts. I've got the blank screen of death, my life's overrrrr Ok, anyways. Is there any way to solve the BSOD or not, because I really want to finish this stupid mission and it doesnt happen anywhere else in this game.

I don't know if this will help but...

I just bought a new lap top with dual core and 1 gig of RAM figuring it should have enough power to run GW at moderate settings. But it kept crashing to desktop and sometimes even shutting down the computer.

So I became curious and decided to see what each core was doing during GW play. One core was more active than the other by far.

I think GW can only play on a single core at a time and, since each core sees only half the memory in the system, that core is trying to run with 512 MB instead of 1 gig - 512 is the minimum required for Nightfall.

I just installed 2 gigs of memory this morning and it seems to make a huge difference. Frame rate is not much better but there have been no lags or crashes so for and, even with a low frame rate (15-35 fms) the game is running very smoothly at above moderate settings. Since you are running dual core you might try upgrading to more RAM as your first step.

Ahh, I never even thought of that. I'll have to try that. I finally was able to finish the mission at least though :P I think heat might have had something to do with it, because I put a fan on the back of my PC and it hasn't happened as often.

Gaaaak - Looks like I got bad info from the computer store and have been corrected.

Dual processors see only half the memory. Dual cores share the memory.

Still, adding RAM solved my problem so it couldn't hurt to try.
