Paragon farming The Falls
roysland
Now that Melandrus Resilience has been slightly buffed, i thought I'd take my paragon out for a walk in The Falls.
Just as the wikibuild, I used Melandru's Resilience as the elite. MR nullifies all degen except the Conjure Phantasm by the Wind Riders. I tried a slightly different build at first, with some points in motivation to bring mending refrain, and troll unguent. But they weren't really necessary, so I modified it.
The final setup:
[skill=card]Blazing Spear[/skill][skill=card]Vicious Attack[/skill][skill=card]Enduring Harmony[/skill][skill=card]"Fall Back!"[/skill][skill=card]Aggressive Refrain[/skill][skill=card]"Go for the Eyes!"[/skill][skill=card]"Never Surrender!"[/skill][skill=card]Melandru's Resilience[/skill]
Command: 8 + 1 + 2
Leadership: 8 + 1
Spear Mastery: 11 + 1
Wilderness Survival: 9
Template Code: OQKkgllrJiijCOIbi3xubLsPe4A
Used Luluh's Spear for the fire damage, and Shagu's Anthem as a shield.
With only one running skill, it was scary running through the large groups of Jungle trolls. And since Europe had favor, I thought I'd stop by the shrine for a blessing. Take the "For Conquest" blessing, and it really makes it easier.
I still have to run away from the Jungle Trolls, as their Power Attack really hurts. I usually kill the spiders and the scales just for fun.
I've farmed The Falls earlier with both my Ranger and Warrior, but this build was far more effective than the wiki build. I always had problems killing the Windriders, but my paragon had no problem finishing off groups of 10-15 Windriders. They are fortunately stupid enough to try Cry of Frustration on my shouts, so when it was time to use my spear attacks, they hardly ever got interrupted. Oh, I even got the Forgotton Fan.
The Life Pods are an annoyance, but after building up some adrenaline, they died pretty easily when I used Vicious Attack + GftE then immediatly follow up with Blazing spear. Even groups of four Pods was doable. It took some time, but once one of them went down, they died pretty quickly.
My lucky day.. The Totem Axe dropped too.
Final result; Lot's of crap, two golds (including a max req 9 tactics shield +60 hp when hexed) and two greens. After I sold the crap to the merchant, I was 3k richer.

How long did it take for you to complete the run? is it profitable enough??
Elkodust
haha, i saw you post this on wiki a while ago. Nice build.

It's definitely not the most profitable run, but once I clear the trolls, it's usually a 30-45 minute run, depending on spawns. The totem axe drops almost every time, sometimes twice. Just sold the axe for 8k.
I guess it's a matter of opinion and experience on how profitable it is. For me, it's great fun and rewarding.

i like this! very fun
no damage tank
surely HM would be more profitable? if only there was a build for HM... (totem axes and more loot... woo!)
DarklingKiller
well maybe in HM you can fight ur way there then flag heroes/henchies away?
no damage tank
hmm... surely an SoA spell blocker + smiter wud be able to do it? tanker takes arcane echo too

I'm quite sure a build of similar character could solo The Falls in hardmode, neither the Wind Riders or the Life Pods have any nasty skills as long as you don't rely on enchantments and spells. The Wind Riders get Migraine and the Life Pods get Signet of Judgment.
The problem as I see it is getting past the spiders and trolls in the first place. In normal mode, I always have like 20-30 trolls chasing me as I run to safety. And the Redwood Shepherds have barbed trap. And the fight against the Life Pods will take forever, as it seems like monsters in hardmode have almost unlimited energy.
And it seems like the Life Pods will more likely use Holy Wrath if you're a melee attacker, they rarely enchant themselfs if I play with my ranger or paragon.

Grats on being able to sell it at 8k.
It's been stable at 5k for the longest time, but I did see someone a while back selling it at 8k... Maybe it was you? j/k
My ranger does the Totem Axe farming, I've yet to cap Mel's Resilience on my warrior (and now my paragon too!) to try them out. Maybe I'll skip the warrior (let her focus on VWK farming) and leave this to my paragon as a break from TOPK hero/hench farming.
Nice guide, thanks for posting it!
