I just got back in too playing Guild Wars after about a year or so, and ever since I started the game completely freezes whenever I go into an explorable area and fight. It does not freeze if I stay in town, and I can travel from place to place fine. When it freezes I hear this noise in my computer that sounds like its powering down. I have to turn my computer off, I cant ctrl alt dlt or anything.

Another problem is my graphics, As soon as my character loads, the graphics become blurred and things change color.

I dont know alot about computers, but I have the cheap $400 Dell. I have high-speed internet. It ran fine in the past without problems, until I stopped playing for a year and when I came back this is what it did.

I attached some screenshots of what the graphics look like.

How many threads do you need to start about this? I'll post in this since this one has screenshots.

Looks to me like either your gw.dat is broken and the game can't find the textures it needs or your video card is faulty.

Try renaming or deleting your gw.dat file to make the game re-download its data. You won't lose any account-related stuff from doing so; that's stored on the game servers. If that doesn't help at least we've eliminated that possibility, leaving your video card to blame.

You have £200 Dell? Sounds like you need a new PC to me!

You need a new PC, a £200 Dell isn't going to cut it!

Well I experienced the same problem but it wasn't my computer its your video card and make sure that you update Direct X that seemed to help me...If you have EoTN you might have this problem just try to get the CD and download it to your computer the GW internet Downloads doesn't give you all the files...You should also consider getting a new pc.

Yup he seems to know what hes saying i say that if you can get your hands on all the CD's of the game you should just uninstall everything then redo everything using the CD.

A $400 Dell probably doesn't even have a video card. Most likely it's some sort of "integrated graphics".
