This is mostly inspired by this guy.

Captain Bosse's are simple normal monster with a boss aura that are not quite as powerfull as boss, but more powerfull the their comrade.

-They will be 2 level higher then their counterpart.

-they Also have 2 regen all the time.

-Will give 50% more exp and will have better drops.

- When you kill the, they give +1%moral boost, recharge Ressurection signet.

-They will not instant Recharge your whole skill bar.

In cantha/Elona the will deal 50% more damage
and in tyria condition will last 1/4 of the time.

they will randomly apear in instance, not misson or elite misson, just when your questing/Capping ect....

You cannot capture elite skills from them.

This is simply to had a bit more variety to the game, when your going exploring and such, make the game more interesting.

I think the main problem with this suggestion is that the original Guild Wars already did something very similar. In the beginning and middle stages of the game, most of the bosses you encounter are indeed only two or three levels higher than the surrounding mobs and their skills don't include an elite added to the mix, so they'll only be marginally more powerful.

Adding mini bosses would also cheapen the rarity of finding an actual boss, giving newer players more redundancy...and as for players that have already beaten all three games, that is to be expected. Extra glowing monsters won't give a whole new breath to the experience.

While this idea would be great for a hack-n-slash RPG, it loses luster in a more tactical RPG like this one. Anyway, those are my two cents.

I would suggest giving unique names to those unnamed bosses... there are some Unamed Mursaat, Ettin Minotaurs, etc...

Well, actually GW is more of a "tactical hack&slash" than an RPG (it just calls itself an RPG).
It might add some extra elements, for example: if your party is attacked by waves of and has used lots of Resurrection Signets allready, such a Captain Boss could be targetted for a quick and easy recharge of the used rez sigs.

It's not over the top. It'd doable. My only issue is that it would sort of make many monsters look multi-colored. That sort of makes the game more 'sugar and spice'-ish to me, even if it isn't the intention. Perhaps another effect other than a colored aura...

Perhaps they are only just slightly bigger. Make them 20% bigger than the others so they stand out, but not overly so.
