When I try to start up Guild Wars, the launcher will say, "Connecting to ArenaNet", and then I get the attached error message.
I have reinstalled multiple times, and it seems to fix the problem, but after a day or two, the problem comes back.
System Specs
Processor: Pentium D 940
RAM: 1gb
Video Card: ATI x1300 512mb
OS: Windows XP Home
I was on the administrator account when this happened, and there was tons of free space on the drive.
Can anyone help me out?
Unable to install.

I get exactly the same thing, most often after an update. In some cases just restarting the pc will solve it.Seems to be hit and miss what clears it, I ended up wiping all my hard drives and partitions and reinstalling windows etc. Worked till got an update and started back over again, get in intermittently but mostly ok. Do you connect to the net through a router?

Hmm. I don't use a router.
P.S. Thanks for the quick reply.
Edit: Just to confirm, restarting doesn't work.

Try disabling Tea Timer if you have it running down in the system tray

Are you by chance overclocking your system?
Or you could have a bad hard drive. Is that the only problem you have, or are other things flaky?

There are some 3rd party programs that prevent Guild Wars from patching itself. Try disabling anti-virus / anti-spyware software and try again.
