I came back from a 10 month layoff from playing WoW. When Obsidian shards and Ecto where the most expensive items in the game. Now i come back and i see that although Vabbian is more cool looking accesible and cheaper, their items are uber expensive. And the prices has come down for Fissure armor.
My question is simple. Which holds more prestige in the world of GW Vabbian or Obsidian armor?
Sorry if this thread was already made, but i just want to buy the right choice of armor.
Which armor holds more prestigue? Obsidian or Vabbian?

Well, most obsidian looks good. I think the sin and rit vabbi are the only good looking ones.

If you really want to go for one or the other though, I think it's probably Vabbian, as Rubies now cost more than Ectos. Also, I think most of the Vabbian armour looks very better, and is more detailed, than the fissure stuff.

Well if you just looked how much ecto does fow armor needs and how much rubby+saphire does vabbi needs you could understood. Vabbi needs like less then 30 of both but fow needs 120 of ecto+saphire

To be honest, if you would make some kind of poll just to see which armor OTHER people like better so you buy the one THEY like, you shouldn't buy any "prestige" armor at all...

Well I think most FoW armor is lacking in a lot of detail I mean there are alot of 1k sets that have more details than FoW now. If I were you I'd try to go for Vabbian, it looks better than FoW (in detail) and it's cheaper, but you still get some respect of having it. And just about everyone now days thinks if you have FoW you eBay'd every cent that went into it. But then again it depends on what class you get Vabbian for, because some of the armor doesn't look like it's worth the money.
IMO don't get armor for the prestigue because you'll end up getting more insults just having it, but if you like how it looks go for it.

didn't realize people still respected others on the value of their items. only times i've ever got comments on my armors is if it was dyed a nice color or when i was swapping between all 25 ele armor sets to see if i could find any good combinations.

I still have my 15k Luxon on my male Necromancer, best looking armor set in the game IMO, I think some of the newer armors aren't good enough for the high price tag.

To give you an idea what I feel about FoW armor. I earned FoW armor on my monk before factions came out. Once factions came out and I saw 1.5k Kurzick armor, I didn't even think twice before switching to that and salvaging my FoW. Even though I didn't get any ecto back, I still feel it was a good move.

most fow is butt ugly (cept maybe the mesmer ladys boots---) in my opinion.
I go more for looks that cost....so I dont think many people now look at fow or vabbian as prestige, but what looks good together (combined with other armors) or the dye combos. (and personally black is BORING).

Vabbian armor is much easier to get as you get FREE trade contracts from quests and If you have more then one char in nf you can easily get all the gem mats you need, Same with killing djinns, white jeweled dagger drops = gems

FoW is a lot harder to get, to the point where you may be called an eBayer. Not just that, but, I agree, most of it is pretty ugly and can be beaten by various 1.5k or 15k armor dyed black.

I was going to get FOW for my Ele but decided to take a new Mes through all 3 campaigns instead. Money better spent.
As for the question, prefer Vabbian on both Ele and Mes, (which I have).
Personal choice.

I still think the female necromancer FoW armour is completely awesome. Although the comments I get on it are dwindling away.
It is a matter of taste, and there are so many other "prestige" things in the game, especially titles, that have taken away from the presitige of certain items that it does not really matter anymore. It used to be that the only way to truly show off in town was with armour or your Hero's ascent emote.
I saw some clown repeatedly spamming in town that he was now a "Legendary Spearmarshall" over and over again. Congratulations, you farmed for a few hours as a worm in Hard Mode, get over yourself.
We just do these things to please ourselves or call attention to ourselves, some of us just need the attention more than others.

FoW....I got mine when there was only prophecies, I thought it was the best looking necro armor in the game, so I farmed UW / Fow for months for materiels and got it....still the best feeling Ive had in GW, I truly felt a sense of accomplishment.
on the other hand most of my weapons are greens....so I guess it just depends on what you want to spend ur money on .
