Help me understand Roleplay and PvP modes please

Well I'm playing this game for about a week, and yesterday it came to my mind.

If I create a Roleplaying char will I be able to participate in any PvP Combats?
Or will I have to make another char in PvP mode?

If I have to create another in PvP, what's the point of Roleplaying mode?

Thanks for reading and sorry for the poor english.

Role-playing characters can access both PvE ans PvP areas, however, you have to level them up, buy 'em max equipment etc.

PvP characters are created at max level, with max weapons and armour. They can only access PvP areas.

Hmm nice,

So it's better to have a rpg char because them I would have more skills and rare items I would farm, right?

For PvP it is better to have a PvP character because you have access to everything unlocked with Balthazar faction and everything unlocked on all your other characters. It also gives you a much easier way to change everything. So, if you want to PvP I strongly reccommend you make a PvP character.

What's the point of RPG?

The items you would get shouldn't be better to pvp, because of rares that you wouldn't have on a PvP character?

For PvP, PvP-generated characters are better - you can use any skill, rune, or modifier you've unlocked on your acount, and you can delete them, change them etc. at a whim. Also, you can spawn as much gear as you want (or need) instantly as a PvP char - trust me, it's a real pain getting a whole bunch of +10 AL vs. X shields as a PvE char.

The thing is, rare items offer NO advantage whatsoever over normal, PvP-spawned items.

The point of RPG is to have fun, or whatever. Some people don't like slaughtering pasty German kids.

Hmm but I DO HAVE do unlock skills, runes and modifiers on a RPG character to be able to use in PvP.

I need to beat up the game on RPG mode first them.

Thanks for the answers all of you.

Or you can buy a PvP Unlock Pack, which unlocks all skills etc.

Or unlock them via Balthazar Faction.

And how do I get those things? The unlock pack and Balthazar Faction?

PvP unlock packs are bought with real cash at the Online Store accessible through the character select screen. Balthazar Faction is earned through any form of PvP, but without having any skills unlocked beforehand you will have to play a while with crappy builds. If you're not interested in PvE at all, go with the unlock packs. If you are interested in PvE, play the game at least once through before you move onto PvP and you'll be a lot better off. Plus, if you actually want to do serious PvP, you're going to need all three games.

Balthazar points can be recieved from basically any form of pvp, its the usual currency for pvp activities.

PVP packs however will cost you real money, but they unlock every single skill for a certain campaign. You can find the packs in the Guild Wars Official Store at the top right of your screen as you pick your character, and the packs are under the PVP Editions section.

Playing through the game can help you understand a lot of the basic mechanics that will be confusing if you try to PvP from the start. Also it helps you get a nice basic set of skills/runes/upgrades to use in PvP.

But I'm gonna unlock only the skills of both classes I am (W/Mo in this case), right?

About serious PvP, yes, I intend to, but for now I first need to know the game, and them find a way to purchase Factions, since here in my country it's impossible.

You can change your secondary profession (Monk) later in the game, that way you can unlock skills of other professions as well. Or when you start playing PvP you can use the faction points you earn to unlock skills of other professions.

The point of PvE is to enjoy the story line and explore the game, the added bonus is that skills, items etc that you unlock along the way can also be used when you play PvP.

The main difference between items in PvE and PvP is their appearance. All the generic items created for PvP only have the same appearance for everyone.

I would recommend playing through the game, at the same time do a little bit of PvP in some of the arenas. That way you can start building up your faction to unlock skills/mods for future PvP use.

Skills and mods that you unlock with faction cannot be used by your character in PvE.

You can buy Factions through the online store in the game client .....if you have a credit card...
