Is it actually playable to have all your Heros secondarys as Rangers and get them all pets ? That way if you do it as well you can get an extra 4 attackers on a team, and joining up with someone else who did it, a team of 16. So good idea or ravings of a madman ?

can work, but then you also might consider bringing a minionmaster.

If you're talking about pets for the sake of pets with 0 points in BM, it used to be good but now that pet deaths disable your hero's skills too, it's not as viable anymore.

Not everywhere. Four (or 8) pets at normal BM levels will happily chip away hitpoints, but they're also for melee characters and can take lots of damage together when exposed to AoE spells. Be carefull or your monks will be working overtime.

I run with pets all the time. My usual team build is me (W/R), Two necro MM (N/R) and Tahikora as a boon protector with ranger secondary. We all have lvl 20 wolves, and that pack of wolves looks cool in my opinion. Of course, the MMs use the pet corpses for making minions, I use IWAY, and only one char puts revive animal on their bar.

Works well once the minion army is up (Order of Pain and twenty minonis is nice, add in Mark of Pain and SS and the damage is awesome). Also, if you are farming greens you can flag the heroes away once the bosses cohorts are dead and the minions will stay and help you kill the boss - can you say better easier drops !

Unfortunately, skills like order of pain do not apply to the pets. Also, be aware that although the skill description for skills like call of protection or call of haste look like they should affect all pets, they only affect your own.

Not sure if it's a good idea. Short of IWAY, why would you? My ranger runs jin and margrid as BP and my olias is a N/R MM to get more bodies. And my thumper heroes all run at like 12 BM.

But just /R for the pets? I guess if none of your heroes are using their secondaries and you can spare a skill lot to get more meat shields, but I find that there's almost always more useful skills for secondaries. For melee, going /N for plague touch or /P for the shouts is more useful, and for just about all casters going /Me for inspiration interrupts and energy management is more useful than a pet.
