With the recent changes to the faction award systems for the co-operative Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry missions in Factions, I believe that the raised stakes for victory mean that simple, random teams no longer make these missions appeal to me. To me, fighting six times for the Luxons and getting only about 3000 faction total made it a waste of my time in terms of gaining faction. For the record, I netted 2 wins and 4 losses, with each loss getting me a max of 300 faction, and each win got me about 800 faction. I spent about a total of 2-3 hours playing Fort Aspenwood in this time.
In light of this, I feel that Anet should look at allowing optional teams for these missions. Players that don't want a team/don't have a team can simply just click 'enter battle', while I propose that other people can gather up to 4 people a team.
When each 'team' of 1-4 people hits the enter button, the system assigns them a number and notes the number of people in the party. The computer then starts the with the next number on the list, notes the number of people, and proceeds to the next number until it reaches eight people, then the battle ensues.
While this may need to be implemented differently depending on how GW is programmed, I feel that, considering that we basically get next to nothing for losing, trying to form a co-ordinated team may be the best chance players have for victory.
