Last year there was an in-game festival called Dragon Festival at the first week of July. Back then, I did not play GW yet, but for what I read it was a nice happening.

When will this years Dragon Festival be? Also the beginning of July? (Next week) I can't find any info at the GW site. I would like to know because I can plan some free time to play then.

I would like to know this as well, since the original was billed as the ANNUAL dragon festival . . . .

hypothetically thinking here...it could be that cantha's dragon festival is kinda like the chinese new year---never quite happening on the same calender date?

But methinks that since the crew is working on both gwen and gw2 and all those weekend events that the dragon festival took a really really far back seat-----

would be nice to get some more lucky points so I hope they do one again sometime this summer (winter for you southern hemi folks).

My assumption is that it will be next weekend and we will get wind of it tomorrow officially. I believe it was over the 4th of July last year. Since the holiday is on a Wednesday I would "Assume" it would start Friday thru Wednesday.

I deleted the only character that ever had the '06 dragon mask, and this was before festival hat NPCs, so I wouldn't mind getting an '07 variant.

Same here, hopefully they will stick to the same schedule this year.

That's what I'm thinking as well, they don't usually announce events until the week before, so I'm still hopeful it will be on the 6th-8th. It could also be the 29th-1st since they havn't announced what this weekends event is yet. Though your 5 day long extravaganza from Friday to Wensday sounds good!

Well Dragonfest was an extended 4 day long weekend last year. It corresponded with Forth of July which was, I believe, on a Saturday last year (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). So yeah, more then likely, it will be next weekend (though it could be the one after that and start on July 4th Wednesday and end on Sunday).

Would you mind terribly pointing me to the webpage where it's billed as annual. It doesn't say annual anywhere on the GW site and the wiki states it was a Summer 2006 event that will POSSIBLY happen again in 2007... per Gaile and the Frog.

Thanks for your help.

EDIT: NVM - I found it. It's on the gamewikis.org site, not the wiki.guildwars.com site. And the wiki.guildwars.com site is the official sanctioned site, so...

No promises I guess until we see it on the GW site eh? IF we see it on the GW site that is.

Sorry to hear that there is no festival. I have been looking forward to it for quite some time. Sorry that they are so busy making a new gave to support the one we have.

Sparks, as has been said multiple times, they have a team devoted entirely to events. They are planning something, just not the same as last year.

Really, an entire team devoted to events? An entire team comes up with triple dye drops or extra lockpicks or more points for this or that? Creativity people, creativity!

I have been looking forward to dragon fest 07 as well, since I didn't own factions at this time last year.

Along with the witches hat the dragon mask is the only hat I don't own, and I was looking forward to beetle racing and more work on lucky title.

No, an entire team comes up with new things for wintersday, halloween etc. Dye drop weekends etc are just little mini events intended to keep things fresh and give a large percentage of the game population something fun to do. most likely they have most of the team planning for the next big event (probably either a preview event for GW:EN or the release) and one or two people planning out the weekend events, getting special items such as golden eggs created, etc. That said, I'm not an ANet employee and I could be entirely wrong.

Well they got to have something...

Afterall everyones off for the 4th. And the Halloween event ( which is best IMO ) took place on work day.

So yeah, for such a big event to have its big ending on a tuesday kind of sucked.
