besides the fact that you'll have to play PvE to be able to play PvP at a decent level (which is exactly what we're trying to move away from), the problem is that popular bars are popular for a reason. It's not like you can come up with somehting just as good. People didn't run LoD/RC backlines for the entire last month because they weren't creative, they ran them because it's the only way to prevent the retarded condition spam from para's, rangers and cripslash warriors from blowing you up. People aren't all running SoD all of a sudden because they're not creative, it's because the meta has moved again, and SoD is the best way to not die.
I'm sorry, it would just be a very bad idea.

Wrong thought leads to terrible idea.

You know why people keep copying build and don't think of new ones ? Because those builds work effectively. And of course number of good builds will be limited. It is not because people are too lazy to think any new build.

I can think of 948725789 new builds which are very original and include craziest skill combo that no one ever heard of, but those will suck and no one will use them. So copyright or not can't help it.

Totally /notsigned.

This is the worst idea ever.

Who said it's imperative you think of your own build anyway? A lot of people don't use builds, they just put together a whole lot of skills that will be useful for whatever situation they are going in to. If a build is the easiest, then there's a reason why people use it a lot. It would simply destroy the fun of this game. If you enjoy making builds that's your prerogative, but some people simply don't, and this idea would ruin the fun of the entire game.

Oh well if that's right might as well close down the thread. the idea was coming from the point of view that there were still viable builds out there. And that people could be encouraged to find them.

The charging for them was obviously over zealous (a bad idea), but I thought people would still want to come up with new builds and share them for something like a title.

I don't know whether I am happy or sad that all the viable builds have been found. I suppose I am sad.

You do need money AND a pve character to make a Guild, and you need a cape to buy a guild hall.

Ownership of ideas, constructions, etc is actually contrary to communism, but the idea is horrible. The only one who has ownership here is ANet, and we paid for licensed use. Soon we will be patenting skills and such?

I actually like this idea. I mean, how much money has entered the game because of 55hp farming? About a whole ton. And how many people invented the 55hp build? 1,2,3? And what would have happened if you invented it and kept the build secret? You'd be rolling in cash while other people ate your table scraps. Seriously, if I invented the 55hp build, I would have kept it secret and I know that YOU would have too. Oh, I bet that you'll post indignantly that of course you wouldn't, but secretly, deep down, you want to get an edge on everyone around you. And I'll bet that if you invented the next revolutionary build that betters the 55hp, you'l keep it your most jealous secret.

However, I look from the other end of the spectrum. Instead, if a particular build is announced on this forum or somewhere else that proves to be sufficiently popular, ANet should in some way, monetary or otherwise, thank the person who has allowed GW players to look at their game in a different way.

you know what you could do to make this idea viable, instead of charging make it to where when when you put the build together it says originally made by such and such, they get credit, you dont get boned, everyone is happy.

Who knows but if they had had the ability to register it we would know their names.

Anyway I've edited the original post.

Clearly the charging aspect was really wrong. As it wasn't really the point of the post just forget that aspect.

Just a bad idea, try to encourage players to come up with builds any other way.

Well, give us a suggestion then. The majority of GWGuruers don't seem to realise that just saying "/notsigned, it's a rubbish idea" doesn't help the OP, whilst constructive criticism does.
