Earthquakes in Tyria(Cantha speciffically)
willie nelson
I've been preparing my chars for GW:EN, and the time has come to take some of them that haven't visited Cantha through those missions. The thing is, most of Kaineng City (outside of the Centre + Raisu Palace) doesn't really look like it has been built with seismic hazard in mind(in fact most of it looks like it's going to be blown away by a slightly stronger wind )
So imagine what's gonna happen when earthquakes hit... (If I had any money on my chars I'd organize a Kaineng:Aftermath drawing contest )

eh well the rupture will probably open up outside the city, down in kurzick land

Everything is made of wood there. I wonder why it hasn't been burned down already. They must have an excellent fire department there.

many years have passed tho...

what and since they hired a civil engineer and kaineng will be layed out in a sensible manner on one level, we can only hope.

kaineng is such a hole that a few earthquakes would probably improve that slum.

Really Tyria and Elona are two regions on the same continent (supposedly, still hasn't been proven completely)....we just don't know what that continent name is...but Cantha is definitely not part of it.
Kale Ironfist
Tyria is the name of the planet/world if people didn't know. It is also the name of a continent.
MrFuzzles
I always thought tyria and elona were two separate regions, and that there was no given name for the continent or "world". I've always referred to tyria as "prophecies lands", for lack of a better term.

It'll be interesting to see how they are going to explain earthquakes occurring.

There is loads of the Canthan map that is inaccessible at this time. My guess is the earthquakes will open up on the western edge of the mainland, below the "kaineng" area.

Good I hate that part of the game

My bet is Gwen will show up in Kaineng, do her stuff (ie. Burn everything), and dance in the middle singing "THE ROOF! THE ROOF! THE ROOF IS ON FIRE!".
Pretty simple to burn Cantha down, just one misplaces match is all it needs. And if a disturbed Gwen visits...

One of the last things heard in Kaineng...
Childs voice: Mommy! Mommy! I just learned firestorm! Watch!
Panicked woman: Noooo!

Almost all the Kaineng quests had a way of sucking the enjoyment out of playing but I still loved the huge buildings and city/slum scenery. The artwork was incredible even on my POS pc. On top of that there was an initial feeling of scale unlike prophecies. It's too bad we couldn't interact with the map though - I would have loved to cast some AoE spell and let part of a building/bridge rain down on the Jade or Am Fah, find some hidden pathway through a building that lead to a rare chest or difficult boss mob, or even fall/knock someone off a rooftop.
I always thought I was the only one who liked the Kaineng area (ignoring the quests), surely there must be someone else who appreciates it

I like the Kaineng area, but sometimes it can get repetitive.
And I'm still confused about where the hell Cantha gets all its food. I didn't see any farms... at least Tyria had farms, and Elona was so spread out that it would be able to feed itself. But Cantha... how the hell can it support itself?
Earthquakes would devastate the region though if they did happen.

My guess a few of the Asuras were working on some kind of invention and it blew up causing tremors and earthquakes :P LOL, I really don't know but it sounds interesting to know how the earthquakes happened.
Diablo???
The seering is a pretty good example of what it'll look like, lol.

Kaineng City is already on fire. In the Undercity and Nahpui Quarter. Those are just about the only parts of the city I like.
It's quite amazing that the whole city hasn't burned down given how out-of-control those fires seem. And the fact that no one is doing anything to stop them.

Its kinda funny how some of the people that complain about a lack of realism also complain about the city slums....
aaje vhanli
I got the impression that Cantha was Northwest of Tyria and Elona was Southeast of Tyria while GWEN will introduce the Northeast; closing up the whole of the map.

you guys are worried about fire's? Have you never noticed the steaming rivers of sh*t flowing everywhere? LOL that has always concerned me, isnt that hazerdous to the health?
