Run a Minion Master build and you should find it fairly easy. Also, this is probably fairly obvious, but make sure you're taking the Healer Henchman. Take the Ritualist Henchman too if there is one (Not been to Zen Daijun for a while now).

First off, there are several quests you can do to buff up your level. I believe my average level is 15-16 when doing that mission. While not completely required, it'll make beating the mission that much easier. Anyway, indeed you should run a basic MM build. Plenty of corpses to exploit here.
I recommend the following party:
You
Professor Gai (support healer)
Sister Tai (main healer)
Talon Silverwing (tank)
Anyone else you deem fit. Perhaps Panaku for extra frontline damage or Kai Ying for some earth wards and the like.
Take note of several trouble spots too.
1. After the first bridge, there is a large number of afflicted, including necromancers that will tear you apart if you fight them inside the miasma. Try pulling them (flagging your henchmen behind you and then using your staff to aggro the enemy) into the bridge. As long as your backline doesn't get the degen from the miasma, you should be able to defeat the necromancers with little trouble.
2. Soon after, you'll see a boss with a tightly knit group of afflicted guarding a central shrine. Ignore this group completely. I don't know how most people do this part, but I never bother with the boss. The morale boost isn't important and the risk of party members dying is too high. Instead, take the right path, where eventually you should come to a waterfall with lots of afflicted bulls.
This is generally considered the easier and faster path. (So don't take the cave.)
3. On your way to the dragon bridge, there are many enemies that can easily group together and overwhelm you. So take it easy and watch your radar. You don't want several patrols merging into one attack force.
4. There are two bosses towards the end. The ritualist one poses a great threat. Yijo's spirit rift is known to do amazing amounts of damage and one or two of these will wipe your party out. If you see a spirit rift forming, flag your heroes out of the radius. Target the ritualist first! After that, you need to fight another group of afflicted, including a monk boss.
Don't worry about the cloud covering the room. It doesn't cause any degeneration. So heal up, gear up, and kick that last mob out of Zen!
Hopefully this helps.
