Yes, it's the common PvP Burning Arrow build, and the build that hasn't left my rangers bar (With the occasional Pin Down over res) since she got Burning Arrow. Though, I may occassionaly dust off the old Barrage. I am addicted to the "Jack of all trades" status this build has. I've found it much more efficient than any other original (Yet, possibly, less effective) build used by random rangers. Are other people enjoying this in PvE? It got me masters all the way through Elona. If not, what other builds could be more effective? Do post. o.o

Yeah, that's what I have been running on my ranger when I PvE with it for quite a while now. It's pretty much the best all-round build there is for a ranger now. Barrage is nice, but fairly pointless in normal builds or without large numbers of barragers, trapping is again nice, but needs a specialised team to work.
What is so good about the BA build is that it has good survivability, high single target damage output, and can shutdown key targets, which makes it, as you said, and excellent Jack of all trades build.

I have to say that I enjoy Burning Arrow/Apply Poison as the two anchors to my most used build.
There are many ways to "juice up" this build...I use a variation that allowed me to solo everything (other than the missions) in Nightfall, without henchmen or heroes.
Things to consider:
1. Do you really need two interrupts in most circumstances?
2. How many conditions to you encounter if you have blocking stances?
3. If you want to be the focal point of absorbing damage, is Natural Stride the best/only stance you want to take?
Again...from a base, this build is pretty good. But the answer to "Why be original" is...you can actually make a much better build if you consider what you're facing in PvE, and why it may be different than in PvP.

Another build that is arguably more effective:
[skill]Broad Head Arrow[/skill][skill]Savage Shot[/skill][skill]Distracting Shot[/skill][skill]Apply Poison[/skill][skill]Troll Unguent[/skill][skill]Epidemic[/skill][skill]Natural Stride[/skill]
Pretty much the same, with two skills switched out
Very helpful for the HM bosses and mobs that do a billion damage with their AoE spells, and in fact I changed my Margrid from the BA to BHA when I got to HM.

I'd have to agree that for general use, Burning Arrow builds are great.
The only other elite I've used much as my ranger recently has been Broadhead Arrow (with Epidemic, naturally ), specifically for caster heavy areas, or for a single, insane caster (thinking of the Drought)
EDIT: @ Holy... Great minds think alike, yours is simply 1 minute faster

Well, I think we can agree that BA and BHA are the best bow elites sout their, PvE and PvP, but I wouldn't count out some others, Prepared shot, magebane are all good contenders in my mind.
Age
So much for Incendiary Arrow for BA looks nice.
Master Ketsu
You pretty much have to BHA or at least concussion in hard mode. The cast time buff on some of the skills makes it so even if you fire the split second they cast your arrow may still not make it on time.

While it definately isn't origional, I've been using the BA build in a lot of situations for quite a while now. While I enjoy trying different builds, I find myself coming back to this one very often. It works well in RA since it's pretty self sufficient and very versatile. In AB it's great for the same reasons along with it's ability to solo cap shrines easily (just equip a longbow and have fun killing NPCs without aggroing). In PvE it's also a great build. Since you often know what you will be facing in PvE, you can easily switch out Mending Touch for another utility skill of choice in order to adapt varying situations.
However, I haven't used this build in HM much, but that's largely because manual interupts aren't as useful as something like BHA or Choking Gas due to enemy fast cast. Beyond this, it really is a good build that works well in a lot of different situations.

I agree, this build is extremely useful.
My ranger uses this build (or a varient) in PvE as well as in low PvP such as RA and AB.
Hopefully ANet wont nerf it.

cripshot imo
KazeMitsui
12+1+1 exp
9+1 marks
9+1 wilderness
3 prot or whatever is left over
imo cause 12 exp will just not cut it for keeping this build running for a while...

For A direct damage version in pvp
14 Expertise
15 marks
Switch [skill]Apply poison[/skill] for [skill]read the wind[/skill]
Switch [skill]Natural stride[/skill] for [skill]lightning reflexes[/skill]
Switch [skill]Troll unguent[/skill] for [skill]Screaming shot[/skill]
Still gives 10 degen, and the damage from BA will be 75~115

Silversword22
This is a super-effective build, but if you're bored with it why not give Mark of Rodgort (with fiery bow) and Poison Arrow combined with Read the Wind (instead of apply poison) a shot?

I got guardian of Elona, Tyria and Cantha without ever running a burning arrow bar.
Fevered archer worked well in places, used a BHA occaisionally, sometimes a pet build, pretty often an R/A dagger setup, choking gas saw use, I even pulled out touch rangering and R/W stance-tanking, as well as running an R/Rt spirit spam. Oh, and I ran JI/Barrage for the undead heavy areas, and probably some other builds I've forgotten.

I tried the burning arrow ranger, i couldn't get on with it. I'm not sure why, its incredibly effective, i just wasn't feeling it. I enjoy barraging in AB as you can easily take out a shrine in about 20secs.
Now, however, ive fallen in love with the packhunter build:
[card]Spear of Lightning[/card][card]Blazing Spear[/card][card]Merciless Spear[/card][card]Poisonous Bite[/card][card]Tiger's Fury[/card][card]Heal As One[/card][card]Charm Animal[/card][card]Run As One[/card]
Provides as much degen as burning arrow when you apply poisonous bite and then hit blazing spear, even if its not for as long. Spear of lightning is great for damage and building up adren' for blazing spear and merciless spear once they are below 50% (although, im thinking of swapping merciless for something else.. possibly something thats a little more damaging). Heal as one is an incredible skill, and combined with run as one for mobility its an extremely effective AB build.
Plus, its always fun to lock your pet onto a monk and have him harrass a monk whilst you pound on their squishies.

This, my fellow ranger lovers, is awesomeness personified. Feast your eyes on a legend in the making. Every sick to death heavy energy build you ever wanted to play is useable with this little baby as the elite of your bar.
Yes, burning arrow does a hell of a job in the act of killing, but PS has to be a close second due to its damage+prep+e management status.
Use it. Embrace it. Love it.

I actually dislike running with 16 marks, but that's because I usually gvg gank or split assist (BA =/= ganker). 525+ (ish) hp is really nice to have most of the time.
I think you can afford to take your expertise down to 9, since (if I remember correctly) the breakpoint for a 5e skill to become a 2e skill (and thus a 10e to a 4e) occurs at expertise 13, but I could be wrong. I've been away for a little while.
I do love the utility of a Burning Arrow ranger though...not going to bother with those who call it gimmicky, if they don't like it, they don't have to, I'll still beat them.
Most of the build's versatility (imo) actually comes from the interrupts, but that's a discussion for another time.
Glad to see that someone else is having fun with one of my favorite builds.

Use it. Embrace it. Love it. qft, I've been/seen devastation from people abusing the spammability of this. Too bad it's moronically hard to cap but yea it's a great alternative to Burning Arrow.

Dropped mending touch once in a TA build with a RC monk with us.
Both went R/Me with arcane mimicry. I had a prepared shot-concussion shot build, the other ranger had a burning arrow build.
Its true you can only keep arcane mimicary up for a low period of time, but god it lets you see just how broken having both burning arrow and prepared shot would be if one of them wasnt elite. We won 2 glad points with it, mainly because we threw every teams monk off by the sudden performance boost.

I did the same thing with Koss and my warrior using Crip Slash and Dragon Slash. Can we say Utter Mayhem? That works for places like TA/AB and in PvE. Skill is about what you use just as much as how well you use it.
