Hey everyone,
My first character was an E/Mo, and I have had him for a while now, and while I enjoy it, I was thinking of changing secondaries and trying something new. This is sort of a Mesmer in disguise build, but it takes advantage of some Ele skills too. Keep in mind the attributes aren't exact because I haven't actually made this build yet. Thanks for your advice.
Attributes:
-Energy Storage >= 12
-Domination Magic >= 12
-Earth Magic >=9
Skills:
1.) Aura of Restoration (health)
2.) Master of Magic {E} (energy management)
3.) Kinetic Armor (emergency defense boost, not critical so I am not worried about enchantment stripping)
4.) Empathy
5.) Wastrel's Worry
6.) Cry of Frustration
7.) Backfire
8.) Power Spike
Weapons:
-Swift Ether (or Portal) Staff of Devotion
-Everlasting Ghostly Staff
-Kantoh's Walking Stick
-(a Domination Magic based staff)
Runes:
-Superior Domination
-Minor Earth
-Minor or Major Energy Storage
-Major (or Superior if possible) Vigor
-Vitae or Attunement
Insignias:
-combination of Survivors, Radiants, and Blesseds
Basic Idea:
This build uses Mesmer skills with the energy bonus from Energy Storage. With Aura and Master of Magic, you can basically continually gain health and energy, and if conditions are right, you can maintain +56 armor with Kinetic Armor. Your damage dealing comes with the hexes. Empathy and Wastel's Worry are more or less targeted at melee attackers while Backfire and Power Spike are meant for spellcasters. Cry of Frustration could go either way. Cry of Frustration and Power Spike also give the option of interrupts and have relatively low energy costs and fast casting times.
I have no idea how this build would work, which is why I am asking your opinions. I just thought it would be fun.

It's an idea that crops up every so often i.e. using the Ele energy pool to fuel Mes skills. The downside is the lack of Fast Casting and the +attributes from runes.
But it can be done. Ages ago I used to successfully run my Ele as a "stealth" mesmer and did several FoW/Grenths runs

-Superior Domination <-- not happening
runes can only be placed on the primary profession's armor.
Unless you use all 1/4 second or 3/4 second casts, there is no reason to run mostly mesmer skills.

The concept works better with master of magic smiters
[skill]zealot's fire[/skill][skill]master of magic[/skill][skill]balthazar's aura[/skill][skill]reversal of fortune[/skill][skill]draw conditions[/skill][skill]Judge's insight[/skill][skill]smite hex[/skill][skill]resurrection chant[/skill]
Mesmers aren't really spammy enough to take full advantage of master of magic. Wastrel's worry doesn't count, because that really does nothing you particulary want anyway. The above build actually works insanely well in the Kryta undead areas in hard mode.
