Cut-off from green?

I'm wondering if this is a stretch of bad luck, or coincidence or something. i used to farm the crap (well, consistantly if not frequently) out of a few different greens and fissure and stuff with my warrior but then absolutely no greens dropped anymore (this started maybe a few months after factions came out, way before loot scaling). i even upped my farming when i started to suspect that character possibly was "cut off" from green drops (greens still drop randomly on other characters). it's been a while since i even tried to get a green with her...anyone else notice this or have i just had a long stretch of character-specific bad luck?

"Woe is me!"

Overfarmed area by the multitudes. (Denied by Anet)

Farm code has set in.

Bad luck.

Farmer woes are so tiring.

Well, I've vanquished every area in every campaign...with the exception of Rotscale (but will have it done after dinner) and have had the "luck" of getting exactly 1 green item doing so...which I promptly trashed as it royally sucked.

Aside from vanquishing, my character has never had luck with green drops except for Sorrow's Furnace, but I do seem to get a lot of rare skins with low req's; however, I don't actively farm for greens, either...

almost as tiring as the flamboyantly melodramatic and self-righteous; i would hardly classify it as a "woe" nor myself a "farmer". maybe i'll try her out again for a bit. greens aren't loot-scaled, correct?

I killed 6 bosses on cap runs with a full hench group and got 3 greens.
I killed several bosses on two separate faction runs and got a green on each run on the same boss.
I've killed specific bosses all day and had no greens.
I've killed many bosses all day and had no greens.
I killed lots of behemoths with my party of 5 people and got two totem axes between us.
I've determined it is random, so don't worry

Farmed Sunspear / Lightbringer points from 15K to 50K by using the Junundu in an 8 man-party (Heroes/henchmen). Killed the Ritualist boss every run, but never had the green drop for me.

Later did complete Canthan Skill Hunter on Normal Mode, 8-man parties. No single green drop for me for killing over 100 bosses.

Bad luck.=P

Loot-scaling is different than farming code. The area is overfarmed, so you will be getting less greens, compared to when the area was first farmed, throw in some bad lucky, and that's a recipe for no greens.

oh, overfarmed...so anet tracks the total number of greens that drop in total and modify drop-rates?

i'd imagine that no one is going to get that crappy purifier offhand ever now then. that's good, picked up way too many of those while doing the main quest (like...every 3rd character to go through there).

does someone have a link to a post that covers all these nuances? i can't use search apparently.

Don't talk as if these are facts, they are just your impressions, of which you absolutely have no statistical evidence to be true.

Sometimes I get mad by all the lockpicks that break, I start jotting them down to see whether I'm doomed on a statistical significant level. And that just to find out its random.

drops are random. period.

if the drop rate lowered according to overfarming, i'd guess that sorrows furnace would drop absolutely nothing by now, eh? not the case.

Sorrows Furnace is still one of the best places to go have fun in and yes greens still drop there. My guild does SF once in awhile and its just alot of fun going back to Tyria and exploring. Sometimes you just need to go back home because you miss it

Ive always wondered this, and wish Anet would say something about it. But, it DOES seem that the more people farming an area, the less drops there are.

For example, when the colossal farm first came out, I was one of the very first people to dip my feet into it. I would net about 3-5 golds per run, which was beyond impressive to me. After everyone found out about it, it would take several runs just to get one gold. Same thing happened with Urgoz, and the suicide exploit, when I first did it, and not may others were doing it at the time, I would get a gold per run, eventually, this dwindled to 1 gold per 5 runs. Im not gonna farm something for one gold per 5 runs, so I stopped. However, I got on at a ridiculously early time, when nobody was in Urgoz, and got several good golds off the bat.

Several of my guildies/friends have noticed this too. Is it just us, or do other people notice it.

that's why it's hard to say. sometimes nothing makes a more clear pattern than random chance. i think it's the hippocampus in the brain that makes patterns from perception (i think it's the part that tells you a couch is a couch even when you've never seen it before...or when it's a love seat and you have no idea what a "love seat" is).

it's the vagueness that's the most uncomfortable. sneaking that kind of coding in would be cheesier than i'd hope anet is. third option would be that it's a bug .
