Regretted a reroll?
drago34
Have you ever regretted rerolling a toon in guild wars? The reason I ask is I am thinking very seriously about rerolling my dervish but was curious if other people have regretted doing it.
Bryant Again
My necro. His face looked cooler way back when. Now he looks fat.
-My 2nd warrior. I was bored with my Tyrian one, so when Factions rolled out I rolled a Factions warrior so I could experience the starting isle content, as well. I capped about 2 million Xp on him in about a month, loaded him with tons of high-end gear, etc. Then I got bored with him, went to my Prophecies warrior and deleted my Factions one. I actually don't regret it too much, even though I wasted over 700-1mk. I was just bored.
-My current warrior's hair. Again, like the necro, his hair seemed cool at the time...

I see, that sucks. I can't stand my dervish's face and I can't stand the name haha.

Deleted all my characters besides my main warrior... Then a month later I recreated most due to new farming builds (Solo fow necro... regretted deleting my necro) and birthday presents
Omniclasm
Have deleted....
Mesmer x3
Ranger x2
Ritualist
Elementalist
Couldn't stand my Ritualists name, hated deleting him, but 2 weeks later he was just as good as the old one, and had survivor. :P
Mesmer, sometimes I regret it, buying all the skills again gets expensive.
Elementalist, I can't even remember what face/hair he had.
Ranger...was too noob to care.

Yes I do specially my first few "Good ones" not the "testers" or I would have a few 2nd year mini pets by now
as it is i have to wait 1 or 2 more months now for em. LMAO
But thems the breaks and some of my first Charrs were much better than what I can make now
Plus were very far in the game
So buy slots try not to reroll didn't have the slots back then.
Edit Spelling chucker didn't work.......

When I bought my second account, I had to move one of my toons accross so that it would be 3+pvp on one account and 3+mule on the other. My first ever character drew the short straw and got re-made on the other account, only to be deleted and re-created again 3 months later when the online store came online.

Lol, I have re-rolled my monk 4 times now. First two times was in prophecies, last two in factions. 3 of those times I got her to 20, max armor (once she had 15k), and a few elites. Don't know why I kept deleting her, honestly. Just kinda got tired of heal/prot everywhere, smiting wasn't powerful enough, and I despise the monk farm builds - so I just kept deleting her. I'm giving her another try because of the PvE-only skills, and because I had a free spot after deleting my Dervish. Bleh.
I've redone warriors, sins, eles, and mesmers a couple of times, too. Half the time I get them to 20 and max armor before I decide to re-roll. A lot of wasted time, I guess, but I had fun, so it's not too wasted.

Cottage Pie
re-roll? no. but i had a mate accidentally delete my main, in short i had 8 chars all called cottage pie, sai, psi, pyre, die, etc...and a mix-up happened when he came to 'have a go' on guild wars.
rerolling from that is somewhat 'difficult', you realise you no longer have the ectos and perfect monk things that took you a while to collect because they were simply rare, rather than just expensive, all skills on one char, loads of places explored, etc, the entire game changes.
I basically just kill people these days, tbh it's much better than telling yourself "i must have this much cash by X time" or get whatever ubar item. imho, farming to me now seems simply ill-behaviour.

I remade my Paragon three times, my Mesmer twice and my Ritualist once. Never really regretted doing so, but I did wish I hadn't put so much money and time into them beforehand. Many sets of 15k armor scrapped...
Gwmaster
hell yes i do regret, i mean i rerolled all my characters a week ago, so far i got 2 lvl 12s and im having a hard time playing since i get bored so quick. And since i deleted every money and equipment, i have to start from scratch, kinda hard i tell you. Its like i just wasted 3,5k hours of my life
Omniclasm
Will suck at first, but in the long run you will be happier with your better looking, better named Dervish. Was in the same boat with my Rit, just take the dive, I am very happy that I have mine renamed

If you dont play much anyway, just wait for GwEn to come out and see if there are any character changing options. I know it is something that has never gotten any real feedback from anet, but they have a way of bringing much-asked features when we arent expecting it.

My first character, a ranger...deleted her one night...don't remember why but I know I lost a couple good sets of 15k and about 100k in gold when I did it. I know I wasn't drunk when I did it because I've only been drunk twice (I only drink on special occasions) in my life...and I was never near a computer. I just figure I came up with some stupid reason and didn't think it through. I realized what I did the next morning and have been kicking myself ever since. She would have been my first 2 year old character...only have one right now...the second character I created...my warrior.
just gotta think those kinds of choices through...and make sure you recover everything you can before you actually delete the character. Now when I delete characters I strip the characters bare before deleting them. I make sure I'm absolute certain I'm not deleting anything vital...

I had to re-roll my Monk when they did the facial alterations. Before, she looked pretty good. After, she looked like Princess Leah and Alfred E. Newman's love child - eewwww.

I think im in the same boat as you, currently my main is an assassin but I dont like his name or face or basically anything about him. Currently he has all assassin skills, 3 15k armors, a few sets of green daggers and rare skin daggers customized to him, and finished all 3 campaigns. He also has 650 hours played in the last 12 month. If i do re-roll im not gonna delete him, gonna keep him just so I get my presents xD

I regret deleting 2 of my 24-month old characters that I hadn't ever logged onto after creation before I knew about birthday presents.

with the addition of the ability to buy more character slots I've eliminated the boredom...I always have something to do. Incidentally...I've made that first character my Survivor character...tried several times at LS...got half way past indomitable a couple times. If I get bored or frustrated with survivor I go work on something else...whether it be farming or some title...I always have something I can work on...so the urge to reroll characters is reduced significantly.

Only time ive regretted re-roll is when i forgot to take all my greens and runes off my chars heroes. DOH!

Nah. ANet should just add some paperbags to the game so we can just put them over our fugly charas' face.

Yes, I regret deleting my second character. I got a Ranger to around Aurora Glade and became...frustrated...with trying to hench that mission (early days of GW when others also had quite a few issues with henching it).
I was using her more as a domination mesmer than a Ranger and didn't see the character going anywhere. I ended up making a monk (smiting) and an axe warrior. She languished around for a while, I even bothered to get her a Halloween mask IIRC. I finally decided I wanted an elementalist so I deleted her. This was WELL before we could purchase character slots and the days of GuildWiki being a well known resource or being able to purchase any unlocked skill from any skill trainer. I had no idea about a trapper or barrage ranger (and even if I did still had a ways to go before access to those skills) and at that point in the game Ranger royally suck and the mobs are too much to depend on your secondary as you primary attack. Add in that the hench died a lot and I had no reusable rez and I was simply irritated - now I know enough that I wouldn't have a problem with it.
Now not only would she have gotten her second birthday present by now but I wouldn't have had to redo one later on. Since then I normally just live with it if the character has much play time on them at all. I only re-roll if I hate something on them. I also used to have "experimental" characters, I found that after some point they became real ones. My oldest current character is the afore mentioned smite monk, I *hate* her name but by the time I learned what I wanted too she was too far to delete as I didn't want to redo the same thing all over again. I found I make sure every character I make is acceptable as a "real" anymore.
*shrug* I keep thinking about re-rolling my current ranger as I prefer the skin I used before, but he is old enough and has too many skills unlocked. I will regret re-rolling him more than I want the different skin.

Re-Rolled my sin, and my necro. My sin because I wanted at least survivor (1) on her, which I did get. My necro because I couldn't stand how she looked. (Why are NF necro's so fugly?) Made her new in Cantha, she now has 15K kurzick and survivor(2) =D.

Well...I regret that I would have had 7-8 characters at least a year old by now, and at least 4 of them being 2 year old characters, but instead...
I have one 2 year old characters and three 1 year old characters...
So many missed birthday presents...
Other than that, no I don't regret re-rolling at all, especially with tomes now added to the game. Makes going after all those skills I used to have a lot easier.

Fug has gotta go!
No regrets.
Especially after the announcement of GW2. Because that made it very clear that everything in GW has an expiry date. So no use to clinging onto stuff that you don't like and absolutely NO reason whatsoever to buy an additional char slot. If i need space - i just delete something old.
Pets?
Screw 'em.
When GW2 comes out no-one will care that you had a mini-Rurik.
So on my main account - my oldest char is 7 months old and i keep thinking of remaking him.
And i just deleted this guy a few weeks ago - he was my most played char, he had tons of stuff (he was my storage in the last months and because he had so much stuff himself - he needed a storage char himself!) but there is no point in hanging on to worthless stuff.

Re-rolled my ranger - my main and first character - a little over a year ago cause I couldn't stand his hair! I regret losing his age - would have had his 2nd bday now instead of his 1st - and having the explored map areas for no longer accessible arenas as I've been going for Tyrian grandmaster cartographer. lol
Traveller
I kinda regret re-rolling my male elementalist into a female one. But this was back in 2005 and he had a hideous hairstyle (what was I thinking?). I also played my male assassin up until Arborstone and then got fed up with it - but then started a female one a year later and had much more fun.
I try to create characters very throughly so I know I can look at 'em for a long time, since getting all that equipment and skills again is a long and costly process. I do know that if somewhere along the line A-Net adds the hair stylist NPC, I'm the first one to use it on some of my characters.

Mordakai
In the beginning, when I was just trying things out I made and deleted tons of characters.
The only one I regret was my first Character, Mordakai ______. (Can't even remember his last name!).
I didn't get very far with him, it's just that it would be fun to see the first character I created again.
I've had no reason to delete any characters recently, even though most of them are under level 10. I honestly don't play GW very much anymore, so when I log on, it's just to see if any special events are happening, or to do a quest or two.

I rerolled my mesmer a few times... Had a Prophecies one first, waited for my birthday and then rerolled Canthan ones twice. Ended up deleting my mesmer for good and replaced with a ritualist cause I only have 9 slots. So no room for all 10 professions.
Zedd Kun
I deleted my 55 hp monk after the nerf, I regret it now =/ used alot of time on him.. I wanted to use him as a ordinary monk, but the name was "Fifthy Farmer Five", so I didn't want to.. I regret most making that name >.< and I forgot to transfer all his gold, runes and 55hp monk equipments into the storage =/
Leonhart
Since we have birthday gifts I can't reroll or I'll miss out D:
But I suppose to the question yes, as I see on some of my characters are 2+years old, while some or only 6 months :/

Well, I took my first character (a Ranger) through all 3 campaigns. About halfway through all this, I decided that her name irritated me, so I made an identical looking ranger with a slightly different name who's been sitting at lvl4 in Pre ever since :/
No matter how much I want to, I can't face starting the game over again just because I want a different name for my main character.
Anet should give us the option to change our character's name, say once every 3 months or something, I dunno. (If you can change it often, then it might become a way to scam people).
Also, regarding appearance. Hairstyle and colour changing should have been in from the start, either free or maybe a stylist NPC.
Face, skin colour and body size, I dunno. It would be nice to be able to change these at any time too, but I can see why changing them would feel wrong. In any case, why would anyone want to make a character any smaller than the largest body size?

I really hope Eye of the North includes a character editor.
