Everything Unlocked: What to do with faction?

So during this weekends event I managed to unlock the last few items I needed to have all skills, items, heros, runes, etc., unlocked for my account. I am OK that there is no neat reward or title for the effort (how about a much larger faction cap?), but I find myself quite annoyed that all my faction from here on out is just wasted effort.

Think of the parallels in other areas of effort:
"You have fulfilled all expectations, worked long and hard, there is no challenge that you have not bested in your efforts to be made President of the company, as a reward for all of your work, you will no longer recieve any pay or benefits for your future work. Congratulations!"

There are endless gold sinks for people to pour extra gold into, from buy-a-title (sweet tooth, drunkard) titles, to FoW armor, dyes, and whatnot. There is nothing to do with extra faction.

I propose that something be made available for people to spend their extra faction on.

Could we not convert our faction into Flames of Balthazar? Stackable, storable, sellable faction for when the latest expansion comes out? A simple trader could resolve the issue. It would be something at least.

Thats just a suggestion, I am quite open to any propositions. Ideas anyone? I think it's just a little ironic that our reward for unlocking everything in the game is that our faction is now wasted and all of our future efforts go unrewarded.

Uhm... what about buying Tournament Tokens?
Thats what I do, but I've got no use for them though...
But at least you have something to spend your faction points on until GW:EN is released.

I didn't know about them, thanks. I assume they stack? I guess that's something. I still hope that they implement something a little more interesting. There are so many different gold sinks, you'd think they could come up with a creative faction sink.

You can make money selling tokens, particularly in Hero Battles. However, the market isn't very big, and it can be hard to find someone to sell them too. If you can find a permanent client though, you can turn a decent profit for like 100~ per token.

I got like 200 of these buggery tokens, and the pile is just getting bigger...

I suggested this already a while ago. I agree that Balthazar Faction should have some other use(s) than getting Tournament Tokens. My ideas would be to offer trades for:
1. Beer to celebrate the victory (Drunkard title)
2. Pie (Sweet tooth)
3. plain Gold reward

I have reached full unlock by the end of nov'06. I even bought that Razah hero for 50k fb that first day just to spend some useless faction.
When they introduced the tournament tokens, i simply started buying them, it was like making something out of nothing. But after making 2 full stacks (500) i realised they're not even worth the storage slot they take, so i stopped buying any more.

I've made quite a long, detailed and popular thread about it here on guru, suggesting possible uses for the faction. (no link cus I can't find it, the search doesn't work again, neither the show threads started by user option)

So much wasted potential, Faction could have been such a powerful rewarding tool for all kinds of pvp players... just like another one, the maximum Faction Cap, currently as useless like the faction itself...

The ideas suggested there included:

1. Unlockable (!) armor skins for pvp characters. (it was before automated tournaments were announced)
There were multiple tiers of armors, and the way to reach the higher ones was by rising your max Faction Cap

2. Unlockable White and Black dyes for the pvp item creation interface (unlocking would be quite costly and requiring high one time payment)

3. A title based on the total gained faction on the account. Should be obvious. Show off your 'pvp exp bar' like you can do with the other titles!

4. Donating faction into your guild's pool, usable by the leader on guildhall changes and upgrades or something new.

5. Gamble! npc exchanging 10,000 faction into a random gold item (excluding the extreme elite skins)

6. An alternative way of getting a Celestial Sigil. I'd suggest a collector accepting those tournament tokens in exchange for a Sigil. A price would have to be quite high (like 150-250 tokens) not to affect the secondary market price of sigils much, for them to remain a worthwhile HoH reward.

7. Turning Faction into Flames of Balthazar. Again the price would have to be high, like 10k faction into a 1k flame, to prevent easy selling of uax accounts on ebay or other abuses.

Hm... maybe they could turn torunamnt tokens into 'Balthazar tokens', the 'coin' in Battle isles.

And you could trade them in Zaishen Quartermasters all the time.

1) Flames of Balthazar:

3k Faction -> 1k Flame
5k Faction -> 3k Flame

There will always be a demand and market for Flames, like there will always be a demand for skill tomes.

2) Balthazar's Steward Title:

Donate Faction to a priest in 5k chunks to go towards a title track. Breakdown would be something like:

100,000 - Balthazar's Servant
200,000 - Balthazar's Steward
400,000 - Balthazar's Emissary
800,000 - Balthazar's Agent
1,500,000 - Balthazar's Hand
2,500,000 - Balthazar's Will


Take it one step further. Allow us to refund or exchange our tournament tokens for these rewards.

I like the above idea. Using faction to unlock stuff for those without UAX should still go towards the title too like Lux/Kurz. do.

Do you have enough faction to buy all the pvp-usable skills in the GWEN?

UAX'ing GW:EN will be a matter of 2-3 weeks tops. Then faction becomes useless again, forever.

Any title based on balthazar faction should definately count the total gained faction for the account and not be based on donating them or the title just doesn't make sense. All the faction gained over years should have some significance, and the title would be the only way to show that. All other possible suggestions are based on spending faction, the title should not.

And the flames should definately be more expensive, I suggested 10k faction into one 1k flame and still think it would be reasonable. If cheaper, they would quickly flood the market, be sold at like 100g each giving a cheap instant UAX for players who never touched PvP. Insane.

No they dont. The amount of balth you can store at any one time is dependant on /Rank and I think even with a rank of 13 you'd not be able to store at any one time enough balth to unlock all skills in GW:EN. But they probably have spent and still earnt enough balth to have achieved this.

Balth faction like XP becomes useless after a time, though XP does get you skill points but once you unlock everything on a character then its useless.

Some form of use for Balth faction is necessarry, I'm about 30K off of unlocking all items/skills/heroes, only need a few items now. and I too wonder what the point is in gaining balth. Obviously whne GW:EN is out i will have more skills to unlock, though doing PvE i will undoubtedly get many that way too.

The tokens are something i thought about maybe investing in but as i wont be entering tournaments, I'm not good enough for them, I don't see why i need them

Has anyone thought about the ability to trade them for tombs?
would have to be quite exspensive but i think this would encourge PvE so people who have lots i mean LOTS of faction can make some nice money to...

also if you included elite tombs then i would play PvP alot more than ii already to since i class myself as a hybird.

i have 2 PvP slots and 6 PvE i enjoy PvP when my friends ar'nt on and PvE when they are...

i also like the flame idea since i would buy them if a new game came out and i wanted the new skills or isgnas.

i was wondering how do you unlock every rune since on my account i can only unlock some...
like i wanted elite death, but i couldn't get it so i had to go out and farm...ALOT to get one lol.

Why not let you buy some rare iterm like jade or amber with it?

i have an idea mabye some cool looking amour like a ring does nothing but replaces gloves visual like is in your inventory like minipet "Double click to wear". you could have stuff like Evening wear... like a tux and you have to collect them from faction it would have no affect except look cool...

I had thoughts of maybe Kurzick/Luxon/Balthazar points being exchangable for various consumables, wether drinks or something to the ones you get in GWEN, maybe a way for players in other campaigns to get them themselves.

Yeah, use Balthazar Factions for consumable just like with the Victory Token NPC

I would exchange 10 token for a flame (i.e. 10k Factions).
When we recruit new people in our guild, it is always a pain to have them everything unlocked at least for 2-3 key roles. Flames could help them, as veterans are already UAX and have piles of tokens.
