I have been stirring around a change to the Party Window that is simple in theory and very effective for group communication.
1) When in a town or outpost, the ability to change your bar from RED to GREEN to indicate that you are ready. No more typing 1, rdy, ready, etc.
Your status will be noticable to the entire party.
1a) Set it so that only after every member has turned status to green may you enter the mission or go out a portal. This will prevent the 'Hey I wasn't ready yet!' syndrome.
* I believe the heroes and henchman are obvioius, they change color when the owner or party leader do. *
2) Now, as I do not encourage AFKers, this suggestion may not be as well received, but none-the-less useful. However, when outside a town or outpost and in a zone, allow each member to be able to actively change the color status to BLUE or maybe some type of watermarked 'AWAY' on your name in the party window. Now, before you say anything, I am a very guild organized player, meaning I play most exclusively with my guildies (I am the leader of my guild Order of the Crimson Phoenix [CPT]), and that we play casually amongst ourselves while having fun. Example to explain my idea: 45 minutes in to Urgoz, we decide to take a restroom, food, drink, cig, whatever break... We always find ourselves saying, ' Hey, who isn't back yet? Are we ready? and we prolly waste more time trying to figure out who is/isn't back. I know, I know, there are other ways to do that, like sit down and when you are back stand up, or everyone move to one side and move to the other when back, but It just goes with my idea of the color changing party bar.
Any thoughts?

I like this idea a lot. No matter what you are doing you always get the "type your number if you are ready" and god knows I cant keep track of everybody who has typed their number. A kind of added bonus to this would be that leeching would be very hard to do or even impossible in the normal sense. You would either have to manually sit there and click ready every time or design a program to do it for you which is botting and at least they are trying to fix that...

I don't like the 'turn autistic' part of this suggestion.
As long as this si activated by tipping the /ready emote and deactivating by typing the /afk../sit one, I'll agree with this. Just button would be too much 'we are bots'.
For example.
You start with a RED bar.
You join a team. You tipe /ready, your health bar becomes light green.
You type /afk or /sit and it becomes red again.
You tipe /afk a second time and your name turns bluish.

blech! clicking on the UI is clunky... hotkey the color scheme for the party healthbars... the mouse is for subtle navigation, not for dragging around your screen in a frenzy.
this idea with hotkeys /signed
this idea clicking UI buttons... /notsigned
PS you've mentioned red, green, and blue as part of your color coded schemas... can I get a w00t w00t for these additions? purple = in town dancers, yellow = the just plain cheery folk and black for the goth crowd? And I'd like my own personal color if you don't mind... I call dibs on orange.
