A-net hates Cantha
Shadowmoon
The evidence that has brought me to this conclusion:
Halloween-ignored
Wintertime festival-ignored
Day of the Tengu- replaced
Dragon Festival- canceled or cut backed alot from what it was last year, time will tell
and all it gets in return is Cantha News Years, and event that somewhat effected both Elona and Tyria. I was alittle fustrated by the fact the day of the tengu was replaced by the b-day party that didn't make sence in the in game world (sorta the RPG player in me speaking), but they completely remove the dragon festival. I mean can't they just use the same code as last year if time constraints is the problem.
But o well, guess i'll just have to wait til next new year to do something in Cantha, unless its canceled as well because they ran out of Asian countries to promote this game to.
Edit: I am glad the Dragon festival will be completely restore to the events of last year. It may only be half as long as last year, but I'm sure it will be just as enjoyable. I just didn't like that the celebrations of my homeland were being removed, see yall at the festival...

No, that just means Anet hates tengu.
Tengu rally time imo
Tengu rally time imo
Onarik Amrak
Yep random forum users have total authority and speak on behalf of Anet!
Ahem, Tengu rock.
Ahem, Tengu rock.

Yea thats official, a.net hates cantha... u.u

I was actually expecting some random Guild Wars dev to say something like "Cantha will have no place in Guild Wars 2!! HAUHAUHAUHA. Tyria FTW!" Alas, I am deceived.
Exoudeous
Day of the tengu was stated as being a factions launch event, it wasnt supposed to be repeated
Hell Raiser
Well if we look at hats, it really isn't too bad. Tyria got... 6 hats? (4 xmas, 2 halloween?) Cantha got 3? (tengu, dragon, lion?) And Nightfall got... 2? (2 xmas?I was still on my 5month break when NF came out, so I'm not sure if they got the Halloween hats...). Right? So if NF didn't get Halloween hats, then it is as it should be...(Tyria-most, been out the longest, Cantha-next, Nightfall-last...)
I could be completely wrong
I could be completely wrong

I like Cantha, always have. The theme is great and I really enjoy the music as well. I would like to see the Dragon Festival repeated as a Cantha only event but won't hold my breath. I do agree when it comes to the big festivals Cantha for whatever reason does get the shaft. There is certainly no shortage of Asian mythology they could pull ideas from...thats where we got the Kirin among other things.
SerenitySilverstar
Hmmm I must be terribly mistaken then if I'm playing Cantha more since the Faction point tweak/skills.

I think the sad fact is that Factions is currently the least popular among the three campaigns. I think I'm safe in saying there's the fewest players on the Canthan continent compared to Tyria or Elona at any given time now. Of course, that's nothing to say about how good it is or isn't--personally its my favorite. But I think Anet just realizes that if they had another Canthan themed event, more players would be asking "Why Factions?" than "Why not Factions?"
Croco Clouds
At least they care a little bit about AB and luxon/kurzick double points weekend
arcanemacabre
Aww c'mon, Jesu.... I mean Anet loves all their children
drago34
The majority of the time I hated Cantha and the city scape. I liked the rest of it... But sadly that's not leaving too much to like haha. Plus they will probably do something special for GW:EN.
ShadowsRequiem
ooo good point I didnt see anything about a 4th party
Neo Nugget
Although i am disappointed that there is no dragon festival, I'm willing to wait and see if anet can make up for it with the dragon-ish weekend t his weekend. Although i have no clue why there was no dragon festival.....but at least it was replaced by a useful event

Totally agree with Shadowmoon. It's entirely noticeable how little attention Cantha gets. It was unfair to see Cantha left out of so many events. Not long ago I saw too many people claiming Factions was the worst of all three campaigns. I had hoped anet would be impartial but I guess even the majority of them also dislike it.
When Canthan New Years came around I thought it would be contained in Factions only figuring it will somewhat balance the exclusion in the other events. Instead everyone got to join in the event and that rock-paper-scissors guy in Prophecies which beat out any trade-in offered by Factions. That scavenger hunt for collector items was incredibly bogus as well.
You have to be some kind of stupid not to see the points being made. I don't hate anet or anything but I get the feeling Factions is always thrown in as an afterthought. Look at the allegiance skills and all the blunders that went into that.

if they hated cantha why would they even created Faction at the 1st place?

Although I was looking forward to a Dragon festival, since I missed it last year because it was between the time that my brother gave me one of his buddy keys and when I could actually afford to buy the game, I would rather they wait to hold another special event. My reasoning is entirely selfish I can't play for another 13 days, because I stupidly used up almost all my quota.
So yeah, I'm all for a Dragon Festival, but please don't hold it for another two weeks. Of course, if there was one before my quota is renewed (which is pretty unlikely, since I think everyone is busy with GWEN and GW2), I'd just stay up all night and use my offpeak quota. Still got plenty of that.

Patience?! Patience?!
What is this patience you speak of?
/on topic
I was always a big fan of Cantha and I have to agree with the OP about it not being fair. I mean Cantha didn't get anything for Halloween or Wintersday and now we only get a "dragonish weekend". Oh well I guess I better find this so called "patience" Gaile told us to get.

As long as there's something to drool about, this guy can bring up the patience!
So ... will Event Hats ever have attribute +1 modifiers, or AL, like all other headgear has? The Dragon Masks were cool, but they were no good for combat ... so, in the end, they just became a filler for storage.
scrinner
They were unfortunately never meant for storage though perhaps a side effect of weekend events could be giving the masks boosts to bring them to normal headgear AL? just a thought
OI-812
Make it so you can take the special hats to an armorcrafter, and apply the special hat skin to a helmet already in your possession. And then, make it so you can toggle whether the special skin is viewable, or the standard skin, much like the way you toggle whether helmets are visible in town/combat areas or not.

Well, I'm currently vanquishing through Cantha with my trusty henchies and over the course of the last week it really is becoming my favourite of the 3 campaigns again.
I seem to be in the minority of people who actually like the dank cityscape (problems navigating aside), Shing Jea is just lovely peaceful, Echovald grew on me and the Jade Sea was always a fantastic concept.
You say Cantha's been ignored, but it has had 3 unique Canthan festivals (Tengu, Dragon and New Year) whereas Nightfall has had none, it's always shared with Prophs.
Let's not forget the Shing Jea Boardwalk either, it's totally unique to Cantha and while most sane people won't 'enjoy' watching their bank balances decrease on the ring games, 'Whack a Wurm' is great fun.
Well, I'm done. Just gonna look forward to our Dragonish-themed thingy and hope I get a chance to re-fill my mesmers cellar. He's grumpy when he's sober.

I like the fact that the starter isle for factions is the fastest (in my opinion) and with that I have 6 canthans vs only 5 tyrians and 3 elonians ....(and 3 of my mules are canthan as well)....
cant make rits anywhere else!!!!

ooooo! News!
Come on Gaile don't make us suffer! Papa needs some alcoholic drink goodness!
Maybe patience means they are replacing the nine rings with a giant card game of patience! You can carry the cards are rearrange them! 10 lucky points for each card you clear!
WHERE IS THE DAMN ACE OF SPADES!!!!

What you guys are all failing to remember is WHY the Wintersday and halloween festivals did not make it to Cantha.
It all has to do with the atmosphere. Does it make a lot of sense for celebrations like this to be hugely significant in Asia? Not... really... I mean, hell, the Japanese celebrate Christmas by making Christmas Cake (I am not making that up).
Halloween and Christmas are traditions largely dominated by Western and European cultures. So that's why it made sense for them to be in Prophecies and Nightfall, but not Factions.
Seriously. ArenaNet provides this gaming environment for you at no monthly charge, which goes strongly against the typical MMORPG model because monthly fees are usually required for stability of the game... and when they don't give you free stuff, stuff that is costing YOU nothing and THEM a huge number of man-hours, you bitch and moan?
Get real, guys.
