Heroes in Prophecies?

Please bear with me as I'm pretty new to the game. I picked up all 3 campaigns boxed together and started playing Prophecies first. I mainly like to solo (since I'm a control freak) and have read in a post on this forum that you could go to one of the other campaigns and get heroes to bring back to Prophecies to make it a little easier to complete. If this is true then I have a few questions:

1. Is this even feasible in the first place since you have to outfit and get skills for the heroes? Will enough equipment and skills be available in the start to even make this worth it or are the henchies in Prophecies better?

2. What is the easiest way to accomplish this (which campaign should I travel to)?

3. I know there are a couple quests in Lion Arch that allow you to travel between campaigns. But Guildwiki says you can't do this if you have obtained a certain quest. Does all this mean that you can't go to Factions if you have the Nightfall quest already and vice versa?

4. Do you have to be a certain level to go between campaigns?

5. Which heroes do you suggest getting and how exactly do you get them?

6. Can one toon switch between campaigns as often as they want to?

7. Is there an advantage/disavantage to having more than a certain number of heroes in a group?

8. Is there advantages to having henchies instead of heroes such as 2 heroes and 1 henchie in a group.

9. Any other help/info you might give would be greatly appreciated.

1. Play with the henchman (less money for you to spend) and also if you are just starting don't use heros.

2. All the campaigns are separate stories play through them all.

3. No you can do them at the same time but it's not possible.

5. All of them. Just do the story line in nightfall and go to wiki if you have problems.

7. Yes there is. Advantage = more bars you trust. Disadvantage = heros to stupid to run the bars right (stupid moron heros).

8. Yeah don't have to waste time setting up the henchman bar.

9. If you are just starting play through prophecies (1st campaign) to unlock skills for your heros in nightfall when you get there. Also don't use 100 blades and mending.

If you are a new player, it will take a lot out of you and you probably won't be able to get them very good. However, henchies are so bad, that as long as you get the heroes cheap max customized weapons, a few runes, and a full skill bar, they'll be a lot better.

Well, since heroes are in Nightfall, I'd say go to Nightfall. =p

No, it's fine, guildwiki just says, basically, a canthan born character can't take the tyrian quest to get to Elona.


4. Do you have to be a certain level to go between campaigns?

No, but I reccommend you be at least level 17 as some of the first quests are tough for lower levels. Also, before you get very far in the other campaigns, you should beat Prophecies because there are two 15-attribute point quests in Prophecies for Prophecies born characters that you can't get in the other campiagns. If you don't get those, you will be at a very large disadvantage and won't be abel to get into any groups.

5. Which heroes do you suggest getting and how exactly do you get them?

You get heroes in order of the storyline. For now, I'd just get the first few from the first primary quest you get there and one more from another quest on the starter island. That should be good enough for you to go back and finish Prophecies, then come back later and get the rest and beat Nightfall.

Yes, just use the ship icon on the map.

You can only bring 3 heroes at a time, fill out the rest of the group with henchmen. There is no penalty.

No.

Make sure to set all of your heroes to guard adn the monks to avoid combat or they will run and aggro random mobs. Also, make sure you make good use of the flags. And don't ever use mending or healing breeze!

Heroes come with basic starter weapons and skills - pretty much exactly the same thing the hench have. So at worst they are no worse. After that just given them random drops - at worse case you are *still* the same junk that hench have. Heroes will not really shine until you have quite a few skills unlocked, but then they are at least as well equipped as the hench and the hero controls give you more flexibility.

Nightfall is the only campaign that has them, so "Nightfall".

Each continent has a quest to open the others, once a continent is unlocked on that character (not account) then you are free to travel between them from anywhere. In other words if you complete the quest to get to Elona from Tyria then you can not take the quest to get to Elona from Cantha - however you can still travel from Cantha to Elona when you click on the little boat.

No, though the missions may be hard to complete at low levels - there are always runs to purchase or possibly a nice person to do it for free.

Since they are better than the hench I would say yes - though if you play with an *organized* human team they are worse (for PUGS - your mileage will vary). You can only have up to three per human anyway.

Not really, I suppose if the hench has a build or class you do not have unlocked.

I wouldn't worry about it much, PvE is more about teamwork than anything. Max weapons are easily found in drops and the heroes are quite happy with plain old minor runes (which you can also easily find from drops or are usually fairly cheap at the trader).

You could always start one in Factions for the fast leveling, buy a bunch of skills with your pool of skill points (and ability to get to a profession changer quickly), and then do the prophecies chapter. That way you have more skills unlocked for the heroes. Then all you have to go is get through the searing, get run to LA, get through the quest to get to Kamadan, and you get a set of lvl 15 heroes to take back with you to do the Prophecies missions. And I don't care how dumb the heroes are, lvl 15 even with their starter skill bars are better than henchies in most places up through the ascension missions.

The downside is in missions where you need them flagged back away from stuff, if you have henchies, it's one button...if you have heroes it's a different button for each one. Oh yeah and derv heroes don't understand their skills...in fact the derv henchie doesn't either.

Starr, slight correction: Heroes WILL follow the every-one flag, if you do not have their individual flags in use.
