Acolyte of Dwayna farming problems
taurus999s
I tried farming using the method described here.
My skills:
Communing 12+3+1 = 16
Channelling 10+2 = 12
Spawning 8+2 = 10
Anguished was Lingwah
Bloodsong
Vampirism (L6)
Wanderlust
Anguish
Earthbind (started with shadowsong but it was too short duration)
Painful Bond
Binding Chains
Equipment:
Golden Boar Scepter Energy +5
Cho's Vice Energy +12 +15 -1 regen.
I setup by casting the spirits in the order above.
I pull Acolyte with a wand attack.
Once Acolyte is within range of the spirits, I cast painful bond and then Binding Chains.
I can get it down to about 30-40% or so and then I believe Binding Chains expires and it starts to kill off Earthbind/Wanderlust.
What wrong with my setup or strategy?

Try to use Shadowsong... He will be blinded, so you can recast Painful Bond when it expires, and he won't kill your spirits...

Just a note but hexes are nigh useless against Acolyte of Dwayna unless you have a way of stopping her from getting into her form
Smile Like Umean It
But isn't she always in form?
Knight_Blazer
She has about 20 seconds where she isnt in avatar form. Where Anguish, pain, bloodsong and shadow song with painful bond kills her very easily. You can kill all the mobs with hench, flag hench away, set up the spirits (time shadow song so that it coincides more or less with her avatar expiring), then pull her.
Be warned though, from my experience kills made with spirits dont give you drops. So to get drops the damage will either have to be from painful bond, or your own damage (channeling spells, atk etc.) It's very hard to deal the finishing blow with a channeling spell, but you have no choice if you want the green. Or else I'd just spam 7 spirits with painful bond when she isnt in avatar mode and get Dwaynas Grace a lot more often ;/ Channeling spells that deal a lot of dmg are Spirit Rift (hard to time -_-) Cruel was Daoshen (dropping ashes but have to be precise) or just spam nightmare weapon and hope to get lucky.

I dunno if this helps, I use mesmer only
1. Signet of midnight {e}
2. Signet of Humility
3. Spirit of failure
4. Spirit shackles
5. Mind wack
6. empathy
7. ether feast
8. mantra of inscriptions
wait till dwayna is out of form, cast mantra of inscriptions->signet of humility-> spirits of failure -> empathy->signet of midnight -> spirit shackles - > ether feast (by this time, both your signet should be recharge)
then alternate sequence 1 and 2 till he's dead
1) sig of hum-sig of mid-spirits of failure-spirits of shackles-mind wack-empathy
2) sig of hum-sig of of mid-spirits of shackles-mind wack-empathy-ether feast
ether feast needed to drain his energy complete and occasional heal
mesmer primary is needed because fast casting works on signets now, and 3s cast time for sig of humility and the recharge time barely make it before he cast his elite form.

Thanks Kess. Unfortunately I don't have a Mesmer .
Knight_Blazer,
That's interesting. So since shadowsong only last 47 secs or so, does that mean you would:
1. Summon the high duration spirits i.e. Anguished was Lingwah/Pain, Bloodsong, Vamp., Wanderlust.
2. Pull Acolyte with Painful Bond.
3. Summon the lower duration spirits i.e. Anguish (47 sec) and Shadowsong (47 sec).
4. Spam Painful Bond whenever it refreshes for continual coverage.
Is that how it should go?

Yea Rebel pretty much uses the same build. When she's out of form Pain. Bloodsong, Shadowsong and Disenchant + painful bond is enough to kill her, so you have 3 other skills in bar thats free. Although I really dont get any drops if spirits get the kill, dunno why no one else says they have that problem ;/
Well the 100% foolproof way to do it for me is:
1)clear mobs with hench, at this point her avatar should have expired
2)send all hench away, then poke the the acolyte until she uses her form
3)run away til she doesnt chase you anymore while still in form, then run back without aggroing her.
4)put up pain, bloodsong, disenchant (she has fateful intervention which is a pain to deal with unless you have disenchant), shadowsong, near her but without aggroing her.
5)wait til her avatar form is done, then pull her to the spirits then painful bond
6)when she is near 10%, drop ashes of Cruel Daoshen or a high damage spell.

Thank you for all your help. I finally figured out where I went wrong.
I didn't wait for her to get out of form. Once she is out of form, its pretty much an easy kill.
Cheers.

Because it's not a real problem, I'm afraid you got the wrong impression about that, mostly due to the fact that the drop rate for this green is very low anyway.
If that were true, wouldn't it mean that you also shouldn't get any drops as a minion master?
I've always killed this Acolyte with my Rt without even wanding her (and surely without any direct damage spells) and yet I got the green drop few times.
Also, besides these specialized builds, there is a really easy way to farm this boss with pretty much any character/profession you have.. For example, I like to take her down with my assassin . The key is to use Olias' minions after sending all the heroes/hench away (off-radar) right before she dies..
I use Olias as a mm with Death Nova and golem + shambling horrors.. the rest of the hench/heroes can be pretty much anything (bring plenty of healing, but not too much AoE). I also take a BHA hero to daze her a bit toward the end, but that's probably not a must.. Just clean up the fort (except for the Acolyte, of course) calling targets one by one. Then when only the Acolyte is left send the hench/heroes away and by that time her initial Form should expire.. Then just "help" the minions and finish her..
Yes, even with Olias away, the minions will keep attacking her and yes, they won't steal the drops .
I use Moebius Strike + Horns of the Ox to knock her down continuously and finish her quickly while minions poison and bleed her. But probably any dmg dealer can do the job when she's surrounded by minions and out of the form.

Hole Sale Traps
I've used my Rit (Rt/Me) to farm him first killing everything around then flagging, set your spirit wall and go pull try to disrupt the avatar and he drops in seconds if you time it right.

I can confidently say that whilst that might be your experience, it is most definitely not the case.
In my first two runs with a similar build, I got Dwayna's both times Now I'm sure that's enormously lucky, but the final blows were done both times by spirits.
Cheers,
Rukh
PS If you're worried about her form, why not bring Leech Signet?

The spirit method works also with Ritualist as secondary. I did it with monk as primary. I used:
12 communing
12 channeling
3+3 smiting prayers
Pain
Bloodsong
Anguish
Shadowsong
Dissonance
Painful Bond
2 more skill of your own profession ( I used scourge healing and signet of jugment)
Basically the same thing than everyone... clear all the area with henchmen then flag them away.
Get her to get into her avatar.
Wait a bit then cast pain and bloodsong.
When she's almost out of form use the three other spirits in order to cast the shortest lasting at the end.
Pull her immediately with painful bond when her avatar is down. You can also pull her before it's down but just make sure she doesn't hit anything until her form is off.
Get your own body in her way so she can't attack spirits. Since she'll be blind she'll never hit you or almost.
Cast damage spell on her... I used scourge healing in this case.
To get the final blow I used signet to knock her down so she can't heal.
Got my green after 6 tries.
By the end of the fight you may only have pain and bloodsong left. They can do the job. Just make sure painful bond is on the avatar. The timing is also important to get the maximum damage out of your spirit before they expire. It took me 3-4 tries to get the timing right but once you have it it's a kill every single time after that. If you mess up just run and let her attack your spirit then try again. If you die at the same time than her just unflag your henchmen and they'll rez you. Also if you can get Wanderlust i'm sure it'll be even easier than this. Just cast him before Anguish.
I'm pretty sure this can be done with any primary profession. Have fun!
