Hi guys, Heres a question for all of you.

Does the Guildwars online Store support Debit Card Payments? If so does it accept payments from Canadian banks such as CIBC or TD Canada Trust?

Thanks in advance

My VISA check card works there, and it's just a glorified debbit card, I think any card with a VISA logo will. Can't say anything for other cards tho.

Canadian Debit cards work differently than American cards. That said, scrinner, you should be able to get a pay as you go type of Visa or Mastercard if you want. You put say $50 on it and then thats your limit, it basically acts like a US debit card.

Arghh, I really cant get another card at the moment. Was hoping if I could just pull money out of my chequing account and pay them right there. By chance do we have any pre paid cards available in Canada? For example I could use it to make a purchase and then throw it away after its finished?

I know that VanCity Bank (which I don't know if it's available in your part of Canada) has something called a MyTreat Visa prepaid credit card. I got one for myself and used it to get a character slot since it acts just like a Visa credit card. However, be aware that the amount on that card would be in Canadian dollars and since Guild Wars Online Store charges in US prices, they deduct the converted amount plus handling fees for that conversion.

They charge handling fees for conversion? Hmmm, thanks for that, I didn't know. Prices nearly double for me with the Australian dollar, so knowing that I get charged handling fees is definitely something I need to budget with. Thanks.

Scrinner: you might also want to give Scotia Bank a look, I believe they have been advertising a mastercard through muchmusic that you basically load up with cash like a giftcard.

I did a quick search and didn't find anything on their website and I shall check Bmo and RBC since pretty much all the banks are in walking distance from my house. I hope they implement Paypal though... Saves me alot of trouble

Wish I could help you with the price, unfortunately, I'm not an employee of muchmusic or whomever they are partnered with on this, still, it's an option and if you use it for more than just EotN, you can easily justify the price. 30 charges on the card = roughly the same cost as 30 purchases via interac with bank fees
