Guild Wars Bonus Mission Pack Promotion

From what I know about the GW official store, people without credit cards (or equivalents) are unable to get this mission pack. This thread is asking ANET to make it available to people who do not have credit cards for whatever reason.

It was meant as a promotion. They should add it to the expansion. I don't feel that there is enough content to be sellable. I fear it's an experiment of ANet to see how they can milk us.
GWEN calculations:
pre-order (?? 10 dollars) + GWEN (40 dollars)= 50 dollars (PRICE campaign) + Mission Pack Promotion (??10 dollars).......

I agree, Anet, stop trying to force people into buying stuff on your online store. I would buy it in a local game store for ~$25 if it was made avaliable.

Lonesamurai , look good, OP didn't ask to make it available at his/hers local wallmart , she asked for the bonus pack to be available for people without CC.

Anet , i will repeat what i have said before in another thread where the CC problem was also being discussed .

The world is more then just USA ,the rest of the big wide world th at the USA makes a small part of don't all have a CC like most people in the USA.

Use your heads, now your only getting money from people with CC ,doesn't it seem realistic that if you added paypal and other types of payments that you would be getting more Cash?

I know i would have bought like 4 more character slots if i could buy them without a CC , which i don't have....

It should be made available in local retail stores, as the current payment option limit is just discriminating a huge chunk of the playerbase.

Anet wouldnt do that, because its one of their main sources of revenue (apart from the sales of the games), and they need these little forms of payment to bring the funding in.

If we want Anet to do a good job at maintaining the game, they need those funds.

You really DONT get much from the bonus extras, other then bonus items to give to heroes!

Thats honestly all you get.

/not signed because selling stuff like that on the online shop is a good way to make money for them, which they need.

A slightly different issue to the one of credit card payments, but still conerning who can access the bonus pack:

I'm actually a big fan of the printed material that comes with a boxed copy of GW - compared to other publishers, who these days seem to think that a decent printed manual is an unwarranted luxury, Anet really spoils us with lovely high quality box art, manuals, maps, reference cards etc. For this reason I'd like to buy a boxed copy of GW:EN - BUT I'd also like to be able to access those bonus missions.

Currently, if I opt for a boxed copy of GW:EN, the only way for me to access the bonus pack is by using the online store to buy extra character slots that I'd never use. So, I'd propose making the bonus pack available as a standalone purchase in the online store, say maybe in the £6-£9 price range (maybe after a period of exclusivity for the people who are getting it for free at the moment) so that people like me can enjoy it as well.

It's pretty obvious that online delivery is the future of the game industry - it's more advantageous and profitable to developers (and better for the environment) - but for now how about letting those of us who want to complete our boxed collections of GW1 games do so without being denied the chance to pay a reasonable price for a few extra missions?

Well the only other way you could pay for something online, is if Anet releases pay-as-you-go cards, that you scratch off and enter a number.

Then you can put that towards something in the shop. But I cant see that hitting off, because you would need a card of the same value as an item in the store.

And would computer game stores sell those?

Credit cards are the only way you can purchase anything online, or vesa or debit cards.

I believe that if ANet wants to increase the use of the Online Store, they should increase the availability. PayPal is widely used all over the world. If the CC problem is indeed this big, then ANet is nearly making the bonus mission pack an American Exclusive Item. I'm sure that's not their intent.

My biggest beef is that they expect us to spend money in the online store to get the bonus missions. If you're a loyal GW gamer, PvE or PvP, then you probably have all three campaigns or PvP packs as well as an extra character slot or two. The only thing left to buy is the special edition (One Million in Europe, Game of the Year in the US).

Right now, ANet is essentially offering a unique game pack to a very small audience. The only people who can/will buy it, at the present time, are people who have credit cards (that cuts out most everyone not in the US as stated above), people who don't have all 3 campaigns and can drop $30-$50 on a new campaign (and get the bonus pack), and people who are willing to buy 4 character slots just to exceed the $30 purchase ceiling to get the pack for free.

In essence, it sounds like ANet is trying to get more Americans to buy campaigns they don't have via the Online Store or even trying to squeeze another $30 out of those of us who have all three campaigns and are itching for new content. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who would buy the character slots for the missions and not even think twice about it.

Personally, I believe if they offer the pack at a reasonable price in stores they will get a better turn around. Presently, it doesn't sound like that is going to be an option. The wording of the promotion suggests "if you don't pay $30 in the online store before this date, you don't get the missions."

i would like to add that you can also use a debit card, which i use for the online store. but i will sign this because i think if you go buy another game in a store it should also count. Anet kind of needs money, and this will help them out.

Anet makes a lot of money from the online stores. Making the Bonus Mission Promotion Pack available in local retail stores would cost them more money(1.To keep inventory in the stores 2. To ship it there). Using the online store gives players the opportunities to A. Not to drive their lazy bums to the store B. Buy it from a direct source and eliminate the extra cost of middlemen(Retail stores) and an opportunity for Anet to eliminate other requirements that would take more time to get to players in the long run.

And more:

Make the bonus pack available after it goes live! Currently it's buying something unknown, a gamble. Either it's bad and not worth the ~10$ price or it might be actually worth it, but when we'll know that, it will be too late.

Or simply make it also the addition to every GW:EN Preorder, this way it would be a true Bonus, because now it's simply an addon with a price.

I can't get slots.
I can get the Prphecies upgrade.

I will miss the special missions.

I would pay 100€ for them.

But I can't pay with Credit Card.

Just plain unfair.
