North Kryta Province - HARD MODE
Kris
I've spent some time over the past couple of days trying to find a good build for myself and my heros for this area in Hard Mode. So far, I have managed to to kill all the Bogscales and Fire Imps, but as soon as I get to the Tengu they annihilate my group
I play a Monk/Mes, and I use 3 heros and only ONE henchmen (to reduce degen of energy while bonding AND to reduce the number of -3 energy hits of prot bond). The build I am using is basically a Protective Bond/Barrier build with Mantra of Inscriptions, Leech Signet (Perfect for Fire Imps), and Blessed Signet running all the time (due to the -3 energy per hit of Protective Bond). My heros are Acolyte Souska, Dunkaro set for hex/condition removal and Koss.
The build plays slowly, but it works fine for all mobs except the tengu, and this is due to the energy being taken to zero as soon as I engage them. They seem to constantly hit for more than 5% so I get a screen full of -3 energy and cant regen fast enough to keep the bonds up. Obviously, when the bonds are down we all die horribly.

Really man, don't use protective bond. Ps will do just fine and no -3 energies

Yep, you see I tried that... Against 3 Fire Imps, and with 6 team members, I can only protect 3 before the other three are already dead. Thats no joke. Rotgorts invocation hits for around 190 damage from each Fire Imp, plus the burning, and when each one hits without the protection they have died - and then me and the 2 heros left are doomed.

then use the protective bonds for the imps.
Drop them before engaging the tengu.

Huh, this is my fav solo farming area. Tengu drop pretty fast to VwK. Scales and Imps are too easy, and mergoyles take some timing cause of PBlock.

So start from ToA with an 8man party and do Nebo Terrace and Cursed Lands on the way.
I don't see why your having problems with the Tengu... Koss is pretty useless in that area anyway. Tengu Warriors use Riposte and the Skales love there Price/SS... so why are you still using him :S

Sorry, I'm not sure what VwK is? Sounds like youve got a pretty good build When I'm alone I can survive a lot longer than with heros and henchies, but of course, I had assumed soloing the whole area to be a lot harder than a group effort. Any pointers on a build?

Get rid of Koss, first of all. I was having trouble with this area too. I was leaving from LA in a 6 man team. What got me over the edge was using Razah and microing resilient weapon and shelter before battle.
Maria Moon
Yes shelter can help alot of the time, even if it does not last the entire battle it still take out alot of the punch from the imps first few spells which does ( I know it sounds abit dodgy) help.
Jedi Battousai
You can always do it the easy way:
Grab your Defend North Kryta Provicne Quest, Grab your 55 Gear, and solo every thing on the map.

Dr Strangelove
Agreed, DNKP makes the whole thing pretty easy except for the rotting titans. Solo everything then bring a couple of heroes with spellbreaker along to deal with them.

I used..
War (Dragon slash)
Razeh (Wanduslust, pain, bloodsong, shelter, union, splinter weapon, essence strike, rez)
Ollias (SS, Enfebleing blood)
Dunkro (LOD, Prot Spirt)
Mage Hench
Healer Hench
Was very easy

I actually vanquished that area with only 5 in my party - I meant to have 6, but apparently I mis-clicked the "+" when I tried to add Little Thom. I was half-way through the area before I even noticed. I went as an air ele and I took MoW as SS, Olias as MM, Norgu as dom mes, and Alesia. What worked well was that MoW, Norgu and I had Prot Spirit and Olias had Aegis, so I could pre-prot where necessary. The only real problem I had was when I over-aggroed some of the skales - their Spiteful Spirit/Price of Failure can be devastating, especially for heroes/hench. I wasn't ashamed to retreat and regroup when that happened. PS takes a lot of punch out of the imps.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS before saying about how hard a spellcaster hits, take in effect of the godly skills that Anet has passed on to us. Bring at least one Ranger hero, and load her up with BHA and Epidemic, Fire Imps problem solved. Then just keep hitting them till they keel over and die. Just a suggestion, then you don't need to bond everybody, and that opens up your bar to more advantageous options, and please get rid of Koss, I can't vanquish with him cause he looks so much like Borat that I laugh to much. Was talking to the OP btw.

So, just did this with
Barrage Ranger w/ Splinter weapon, Dragon Slash warrior, SF Ele, and LoD monk.
yeah only 4 of us since 1 monk err'd out right at the start, and other guy dropped late. gotta love the anet lag right.
The fire imps were pretty much a non-issue, Prot Spirit, SoA, LoD, and Seed of Life was more than enough to deal with them. Ineptitudes were a pain and our warrior had to occasionally stop attacking and let the ele do the killing. Generally no issues at all though.

Thanks guys and gals for the suggestions, been concentrating on Ascalon/Shiverpeak explorable areas and missions recently (which I've now mostly done), but I will be doing this soon Thanks again.
