For people that don't have the time or have missed some festival in the game because they was working their a** off or was on vacation. The idea is to add option unlock/buy to [festival hats] so people that have missed the festival will be able to unlock the hat for let say about 20 - 50k. I think it's great idea i have missed 3 festivals i really wanted to play them but life is life and i din't have time because i was bussy So why i have to punish to the rest of my life for that ? Game is fun and i think we shood thread it this way.

Another idea is to add a little image to [festival hats] how the hats look like so you will be able to see the hat before crafting it something like crafting armor.

Thank you for reading and sorry for bad english. I hope it's a good idea please post some answers about this idea.

Well I think the point of a festival is to get everybody to get online. If you could simply buy them, it would cancel the point of the festival in the first place.

I feel for ya, man, but every idea in life has a drawback or else it would have been done already.

Thats why there will be a prize to unloack not some 2k but can be 50k i think 50k is mutch. And as i said there are some ppl's that have time to play events but sometimes they are really bussy. Like i was on a web project all week some time and din't have time to enter the game even for 1min. And there are some times i am free of work and i can play 24/7. I think people that play events will not waste 50k for mask, because they can have it by doing quests that take them 20 minutes and get mask.

How about this. If you really want to get the mask, pay 10k or whatever for 250 Victory Tokens, then trade them in to the collector guy who stays around for 2 weeks.

Well the main reason that masks are only available in certain days is to make them unique. If you want to make them buyable, they will lose their rarity. It's like turning Tengu Mask into Long Sword .
Think of it, 2 stories about player A meeting player B :
1.A - Wow ! Cool mask ! What is it ?
B - It's Tengu Mask ! It was only available 2 days before the Factions release (I'm a P.I.M.P. ) !

2.B - Hey look ! I have a Tengu Mask !
A - Pffff. So ? Look around ! 90% people got it ! I don't have it yet but wait 20 mins, I'll go farm 20k and be back with it !
B - Oww, you got me... I'm a loser...

So sorry but /not signed !

Whoa, buddy. What missions are you playing? Or perhaps the better question would be, what are you smoking and can I have some?

I'm against this because the hats are handed out to those who participate in a certain event not for just showing, doing the way you suggest why even have the events just hand out masks like they do the birthday minis. Sorry dont like it.

While I feel for those who can't get to the game in order to enjoy the games or getting the masks for having to work around real life priorities, these events and even the masks are not a necessity of the game.
I missed out on the Tengu and Dragon masks since I had not purchased Factions at the time these events were being held.
I am missing the first ever Pumpkin mask for I deleted my character that had the mask before they came out with the festival hat maker.
Do I want these masks? yes
Will I get them? No.
Will it affect my ability to enjoy the game or even play the game? No

The masks show either obession or devotion to the game. Depending on how one looks at it. To make ALL masks available to every person no matter when they started really devalues the purpose of trying (as best you can) to participate with the community (for what it is) in order to get said masks.

IF it were not for my job denying my time off request, I wouldn't be here this weekend to get the mask. I would have been in Ohio to be at my friends wedding. I would have missed getting the mask, but I would gladly trade the opportunity to get a mask in order to be with one of my best friends for his wedding.

I was really bummed to find I was out of town during the Tengu and Dragon festivals last year (They are still my two favourite hats and are unattainable to me!) but buying hats is lame.

Offering older hats during future related events that are more difficult to acquire than that year's hat is one thing, but no one should be able to buy a hat outside of a relevant festival.

If it's impertant to you take your laptop. It really only takes 30 minutes to get enough tokens for a helm.

I do wish they would fix the lag at these events or at least assign the dropping prizes for a minute or two so you at least can get the prizes that fall at your feet. I found people taking my prize even before it showed up on my screen. This way could at least get yours and the people who need more than their fair share could go crazy getting the ones from the afks.

Nope. They are unique.

I would agree, though with a Yule giving away party with them.

The hat maker would get a new option 'give a hat' and he would take 10 gold, make a hat and give it to the 'Yuletide Elves'.

Then, some of the gifts would contain hats given away by other players.
That way, only those who can't waste gold, are generous, and do not care about silly exclusivity, could give other players a chance to get older hats.

Something similar of the thing that was made last yuletide.

Of course, player could chose wich hat to give, but not which one to get, they would be completely random. So some gift could give you a hat you already own.

Here's the right solution in my opinion. You should also be able to work towards getting previous year hats at the next year relevant festival. So, at Halloween, let people spend 250 tokens to get a previous halloween style hat and however the devs want to do it for the new hat.

This helps the original intent of getting people online for the festival stuff. Unfortunately, the sad truth is that even with this idea people will only get one or at most two shots before GW2 comes out and the whole thing becomes a non issue.

You can still get the festival hats for a week afterwards, from a special NPC in the capital city.

The only issue is how do you get the 250 tokens... that will require getting ripped off in trading.

So unless your busy this entire week, there isnt really a reason you cant get a hat. But if you did miss it, you didnt miss much.

The hat sucks, because they gave us some rubbish looking crab thing, instead of the oober cool dragon looking ones the actors wore.

And the missions were just not fun, due to being too hard.

The dragon arena was just boring and the quests too easy!

I didnt find any of it relaxing in a "lets just chill out for a weekend and have fun" kind of way at all. I think Anet needs to appreciate these festivals are meant to be fun, so why add oober hard missions?

Make festival stuff a challenge, but not overly hard! Its meant to be fun after-all, not frustrating.

Everytime I warped into a mission, I started smack-back in the middle of a mob. I was dead before I could blink.

You didnt miss much.

How about you just dont miss it.
Really you dont get people asking for stuff form tv companies if they miss a show or a sporting event.
Make the time or you dont get nothing.
Christ talk about something for nothing.

Probably a moot point by now since it's been downvoted to hell, but /signed.

It doesn't affect my gameplay, of course, as noted, but I love to collect things like holiday hats and I'm missing a few. Sure, it's not as special as actually being able to attend the event, but I work early hours and have other obligations and would still like a Tengu mask, among other things.

"Just not missing it" isn't an option for some of us.

I might have agreed with this in the older days before they got some sense and made some changes to the way they did festivals. But they have learned from many of the complaints in the past and I don't see availability being a real issue this time around.

It takes all of 20 mins to get 240 tokens. 10 more isn't that hard to get either to make the 250 for the mask.

Planting yourself in a district either while you sleep or while you are at work is perfectly fine.

I feel for you man, I just missed the Dragon Festival. And the Halloween... and the Christmas...
But yeah, just to keep it fair for the people who can't pull out 50k, I say no.

I don't think they you should be able to just buy the hats, simply because some of them have some prestige connected to them, that shows that you are a dedicated player, and have been for quite awhile (I am, of course, referring to the Tengu one).

However, I do like what they did for Halloween and Wintersday. They offered hats similar to the old ones, but different enough to be able to tell the difference (For the Wintersday ones anyway. The pumpkin crown isn't really distinguishable if I just see someone running around with one). That's what I was hoping for this time around as well. Have both the demon mask (I quite like it. Especially the little antennae on the sides. Although I would have liked one of the Torment Claw ones) and a different dragon mask to the one last year.

I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have the Day of the Tengu this year. I can't see any reason not to do it (apart from the team being a bit busy, so that's understandable). I mean, even if the event was available for all players, so they could experience the same content as those who had a preorder of Factions, those players who were at the original would still have the original Tengu mask to show for it.

Also, to the point about the hats not really being important what with GW2 on the horizon, I'll say this: what if hats are recorded in the Hall of Monuments? It certainly wouldn't be all that hard to recreate the hats in GW2, since there's only ten or so different sorts of hats (although this number may increase before GW2 is released).
