Armor Questions?

First Off...I am an ex GW player. I played about 2 years ago or so, then I went to WoW, but I got burnt out with that game and now I'm back. When I went to WoW I gave my account to a friend, who later sold the account so I am starting somewhat from scratch and I was looking for a few pointers.

Currently I have a Lvl 9 W/Mo, who last night I got a run to Droknar's Forge to get some decent armor crafted for my toon. I remember before that I went with a combination of some Gladiator's Gear and the Knights boots. I looked over and compared all of the armor sets last night and I could not see a difference between any of the sets outside of the helmets, so rather then waste anymore time I just grabbed the full gladiators set, and figure I can replace things later as needed. The reason I got the gladiator's set is because I remember an energy boost coming from this set in the past. After I equipped the gear there was no change to my energy, and I was wondering what was going on with this particular gear.

If anyone could shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated.

My, you have been gone...

Basically, A-Net changed how the armour system works - instead of buying armour with *inherent*, unchangeable bonuses, you now can choose what bonus you'd like yourself.

Check the Rune traders in towns - they sell Insignia that are equivalent to the bonuses that old armour had.

The 'old' Gladiator's armour used the Radiant insignia.

yer but i usally go for 1 set anyway just so in the inventory it has all 1 type of amour name

also, the knights bonus got "fixed" and isn't global anymore (and with that, a waste of space on any armorpart xD )
