So, I'm trying to "pimp-out" my Assassin for PvE (maybe PvP). I'm in need of some third-party opinions before I go through with this.
Please keep in mind, I do not own all of these skills - so this is all theoretical.
--------------------------------
Vexed And Glorious - Assassin/Dervish - Moebius Fox Build
Health (with Runes): 575-600
Energy (with Runes): 30-35
Dagger Mastery: 11 + 1 (Rune of Dagger Mastery)
Shadow Arts: 10
Earth Prayers: 10
Critical Hits: 1
1. Way of the Fox: For 27 Seconds, next 4 Hits cannot be blocked
2. Golden Fox Strike: Lead Attack, +26 Damage
3. Fox Fangs: Off-Hand Attack, +25 Damage
4. Death Blossom: Dual-Attack, +40 Damage to Foes and All Adjacent Foes
5. Moebius Strike: Off-Hand Attack, Must Follow Dual Attack, +30 Damage, All Skills are recharged if foe's health is below 50%
6. Feigned Neutrality: Enchantment, 8 Seconds, +7 Health Regen, +80 Armor (Stance)
7. Conviction: Stance, 27 Seconds, +24 Armor While Enchanted, (+3 Health Regen if not enchanted)
8. Vital Boon: Enchantment, 20 Seconds, +80 Maximum Health, When Enchantment Ends, Gain 158 Health
OK, I will couple this build with my Heroes (One Tank, One Healer, One Caster) - Just a note
Also, my daggers will at the very least be max damage and do +15% dmg (Not sure what the condition will be - any recommendations?)
So, let me be a super-nerd and go through this step by step.
1) Cast Way of the Fox
2) Cast Golden Fox Strike: 17 (+15%) + 26 = 44 dmg (44.15)
3) Cast Fox Fangs: 17 (+15%) + 25 = 43 dmg (43.15)
4) Cast Death Blossom: 17(+15%) + 40 = 58 (58.15)
Total damage dealt (only by me) at this point: 145 (145.45) - assuming I don't have any damage dealing hexes on me.
If my Tank Heroes, Henchemen, or Party Members are attacking the same foe, I assume that foe will be below 50% health at this point
I'm not sure what the Average Health of a foe between Lvls 20-24 is, so please tell me if my above-mentioned assumption is wrong.
Ok, in case I am severely injured/dying, I'll do the following:
5) Feigned Neutrality + Conviction will give me +104 Armor for 7.5-7.75 seconds +56 Health.
6) After Feigned Neutrality wears off, I'll cast Vital Boon, which brings up my health (+80), meanwhile Conviction is giving me +3 health regeneration.
I shouldn't die over the next 20 second period (while I wait for spell recharges) if my assumption is right about the foe being below 30% health.
8 ) I'll just repeat the cycle.
--------------------------------
So how close am I to this build?
Well I have 2/8 spells, and I do have NF but I haven't gotten farther then getting the initial 3 heroes - I can get the NF only spells
I'm at House zu Heltzer, so I'm fairly close to the location where I could cap Moebius Strike (Eternal Grove)
I have about 1K at the moment and I have one piece Kurzick Armor that I haven't bought yet.
I'll need another 1K to get the steel ingots and another 1K for a rune and insignia
I will need at least 6K for the spells, 5K for a decent pair of daggers (I'm still using Sheader's Talons and spamming the inflict and increase blood duration skills).
So, I'll need about 14K in total to get this build off the ground with the above-mentioned stats - shouldn't be to hard to do in one weekend.
Does anyone have any suggestions, ideas, comments, before I go through with this 3-4 day long venture and investment?
Thanks in advance!

ick. have you thought of energy at all? you have no energy managment and very low damage.

A few things:
Why use Way of the Fox, when Golden Fox Strike and Fox Fangs already give you unblockable attacks? (when enchanted when using GFS, but that shouldn't be a problem since you are part Dervish)
There are also better alternatives for Golden Fox Strike. f.a. [skill]Golden Lotus Strike[/skill] (both GFS and GLS aren't good when you're not under the effect of an enchantment)
Also Assassins aren't meant to tank or anything, especially not if that means they have to rely on the of other classes.
Both Conviction and Vital Boon are defensive skills of a Dervish, and both aren't really great. Especially since there the Assassin already has some neat skills that can keep them alive with ease.
[skill]Critical Defenses[/skill] f.a. And if you wan't a higher AL: Critical Agility.
That means you'll have to invest in the Critical Strikes attribute, which won't be a problem since you'll have enough attributepoints left when you drop Conviction and Vital Boon.
You also put to many AP's in Shadow Arts, since it only boost the length of Feigned Neutrality and does nothing else.
This also brings me to another point: Energy.
You don't have any energy skills + you don't gain energie for each critical strike (the main attribute of the Assassin). And an Assassin without energy is worthless.
I would suggest the following build:
Critical Agility[skill]Critical Defenses[/skill][skill]Golden Lotus Strike[/skill][skill]Golden Phoenix Strike[/skill][skill]Moebius Strike[/skill][skill]Death Blossom[/skill][skill]Feigned Neutrality[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
Golden Lotus Strike is only there if you need energy. You don't have to use it as a Lead Attack since Golden Phoenix Strike doesn't require a Lead Attack to hit.
You can also use Impale, because the Deep Wound that Impale provides is nice. And if you feel like you aren't hitting enough critical strikes, you could also swap in Critical Eye instead of Feigned Neutrality.
Another option is to drop Golder Lotus Strike (you should receive enough energy from hitting critical strikes) and use Mystic Regeneration. In that case you can drop Feigned Neutrality and use Critical Eye or Impale.
AP:
Critical Strikes: 12+1
Dagger Mastery: 11+1
Shadow Mastery/Earth Prayers/Deadly Arts: Rest
Damn Coloneh, why did you have to post that link It makes my post so useless

Coloneh--
Good build, except I would substitute Mystic Regen with Feigned Neutrality - more health over all. I'd replace res signet with vital boon.
Sjeng--
I've seen that build before. The problem I have with it, is it takes 25 energy to get it off the ground, and there are chances it will miss.
I'm using Way of the fox, because GFS has a chance of missing, so ir ather not take the chance. Then the four attacks following will enusre me in doing 195 Damage.
Way of the Fox, GFS, Fox Fangs, Death Blossom, Moebius, Death Blossom, and repeat if energy suffices.
All the spells above, use 5 energy, and I'll have around 35 energy, so thats around 7 spells, if i were to hit all 7 at once. I'm only wanting to use the first five. If account for a recharge time of 4 energy per second or so, I'll be fine.
Thanks for the input - do you see what I mean though?

GFS, when you're under the effect of an enchantment, is already unblockable. And your attacks can still miss, even if you use Way of the Fox, since WofT only negates the blocking, not the missing of attacks.
Way of the Fox is just useless. Especially since there are much better ways to prevent blocking. Expose Defenses f.e.

If you're only planning to use 5e skills you'll be fairly limited when it comes to your attack skills. Critical strikes allows you to constantly spam your attack skills, while maintaining 33% IAS, +/- +20AL and a 75% block chance at all time. Since Critical Defenses and Critical Agility reapply everytime you hit a critical strike. Coloneh

Coloneh--
Ack, I didn't realize it was constant - my fault. I'll try your build as soon as I get the few spells I'm missing. And yes I was talking about AB - my mistake. I really don't ever need to carry a res, not yet at least - my heroes and henchies do just fine. But I'll try the build as posted with no changes. SJeng-- oooh!, I guess I assumed that WotF negates missing if it stops blocking - I assumed that the only way you could miss is if the attack were to be blocked - didn't think there was a small probability in general. Alright, we'll I take everything in account - thank you both for your help! I apologize if I came off a bit assholish to you Sjeng - I misassumed the purpose of WotF. Currently I use Critical Defense, Critical Eye and one other spell (that escapes me) and I stay a live, but it;s too much energy. One more question - how much does a zealous dagger go for usually? candyman_sb

Coloneh I'm not sure but I think critical eye is not an enchantment and in the A/D build u cant have 9 regen, only 6. Or u wanted to have only 6 regen from mystic? Sjeng oet Mestreech
Take a look at the 'Variants' section.

ya, i always have critical agility in PvE or vital boon in AB. the PvEwiki skillbar template just dosnt have the info for the new skills yet so you cant put them on the bar.

Here's what I'm using now (A/X Build). Dagger Mastery: 12 Critical Strikes: 12 Shadow Arts: 8 Health: 600 Energy: 30 (3 Pip Regeneration) Weapon: Everthorn's Chakrams (Unique/Max/Zealous/Fortitude) [skill]Jagged Strike[/skill][skill]Wild Strike[/skill][skill]Death Blossom[/skill][skill]Moebius Strike[/skill][skill]Critical Eye[/skill]Critical Agility[skill]Way of Perfection[/skill][skill]Critical Defenses[/skill] This works really well when I fight with my heroes - I've actually been able to cut the henchies from my team, which gives me more money and xp. Now I just travel along side Koss (W/Rt), Olias (N/Mo - MM), and Dunkoro (Boon Healer) and we pretty much survive any attack. I'm about to go A/D, replacing [skill]way of perfection[/skill] with [skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill], and probably turning Olias into my permanent res character since he never dies as it is. A/D Build: [skill]Jagged Strike[/skill][skill]Wild Strike[/skill][skill]Death Blossom[/skill][skill]Moebius Strike[/skill][skill]Critical Eye[/skill]Critical Agility[skill]Critical Defenses[/skill][skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill]
I want to cut out Dunkoro and replace him with Melonni - I have a sweet PvP build that I've been able to transfer to PvE with minor changes (change Avatar of Lyssa to Avatar of Balthazar). I figure Critical Moebius Sin + AoE Sword Warrior + AoE/Self Healing Derv + MM will get the job done without anyone dying. Worst case scenario is that we'll have super low health after 3 mobs of four or five lvl 20-24 monsters. How does this sound? |
